simpathis— MOD ANNOUNCEMENT: WE MADE IT —
And now for our real final mod post. We want to thank everyone who has come and gone through the game, and a special thanks to those who have stuck it out since the very beginning. It's been an amazing FULL six year run, and although the ending was a bit rushed and during a very trying time for everyone, the good news is we already had a path and managed to get there in a reasonable time frame and stick to the plot. Things have changed and evolved due to everything that's happened in the past, but it was all for the better. Thank you again for being part of the game's development. And now a word from our sponsors remaining crew:
Laena: As the original creator, this is a very bittersweet moment. Empatheias is my second "successful" game that managed to last a year longer than my first, Somarium, and I am honestly VERY surprised. I really thought it might not last more than a year or two, but here we are now at the end of its sixth year. I also thought that I wouldn't be around for endgame after I left due to my pregnancy, but six months after I came back and am happy to see the game through. I have had many people to help as co-mods and helpers and we have seen a lot of crazy things, but I am grateful for all the help I received over the years, especially as we hobbled over the finish line. For everyone I've threaded with, thank you very much. My characters have developed in amazing ways and this GAME developed in unbelievable directions because of everyone. Even though I'll have a few of you around, I'll definitely miss what Empatheias offered.
Steve: Man, it's kind of funny that I'm sitting here writing this.. Way back when I first apped, I didn't see myself being here this long or modding (if I did, I would've used this awesome future sight ability to win the lottery or something along those lines). I just thought Emp sounded like a great game and decided to try out a new character instead of apping someone I'd played before because I thought the new character was a great fit for the concept even if I wasn't sure how long I could actually sustain a character like Junko (let's all take a moment and laugh at past me).
And then I ended up modding too, so I guess it's for the best that I ended up sticking around so long. A large part of that is due to the fact that I've had a wonderful group of comods and assistants to work with over the years who did a lot to keep things going and hopefully make the game as enjoyable for all of you as I've found it to be over the years.
The other part of that is that you've all been a fantastic playerbase to be a part of and create content over the years for. The game wouldn't have lasted this long without you guys and I'm grateful for every thread I've had here and every wonderful player that I've had the chance to write with. Thank you all for putting up with the despair garbage I've inflicted on this game for so long.
This has really been one of the better experiences I've had in this hobby, both as a player and a mod, and I'd just like to say thank you once again to everyone who's been here over the years and contributed to Empatheias one way or another.
Callie: I managed to join Somarium right before it went into endgame, and when I followed Lae to Empatheias, it was mostly because that brief time in Som had failed to scratch my boredom itch. At the time I never suspected I would ultimately take my character from game opening all the way to endgame without stopping — and I definitely had no idea I would wind up on the Think Tank not once, but twice, with two different teams. Over the past six years I have learned so much about myself as a writer and about what a joy it is to craft something interactive for others, and though I'll be retiring from game RP now, I'm going happy and satisfied with what we've built. Being eyeballs deep in building the end of a story that's been such a long-running part of my life has been a privilege, and I would like to thank all the members of the Tank who thought nothing of leaving me unsupervised with our planning docs.
As for how the comms will work now that we've reached endgame, the game will NOT be private so everyone can always look back on posts and threads. All current journals will remain as members of the comm but will be unable to make any new posts after the weekend. We will lock membership so no new journals will be able to join and if a journal leaves they cannot come back. Players can use the meme and any last entries to continue threading, but anything past that can be taken to their own museboxes. Outside journals can COMMENT to posts, but they can't make any. We don't expect many to utilize the comm, but we'll leave it accessible like this just in case.
Just note that there are no active moderators.
Finally, if anyone wants to use the story and concepts of Empatheias, you may do so freely for private psl settings. For anything more public, please contact Laena. Obviously the whole emotion thing is free for all, but any type of reboot, sequel, or offshoot that closely resembles the original must be cleared by Laena first.
See you around everyone!
