Olynthus Event Details

— OLYNTHUS: DETAILS —

GENERAL INFORMATION

Who's ready to hit another new place? Here is the quick technical info regarding the upcoming event:

  • Schedule: Starting from June 12th and running all the way up through Helisium (which will be forward dated).

  • Opt-in: This is completely opt-in and characters will be ICly encouraged to only take brief visits to the city due to the amount of grief within the city.

  • Logging: There will be three posts related to this event: 1) network post from Daimonia; 2) main event post; 3) finale that will lead directly into Helisium.

Because of the "detached" nature of the event, players should still be able to do any of their personal plots and logs without any interference. We know there are multiple weddings planned, in particular. Please do not feel discouraged from going ahead with these, as lingering joy from such happy events can only strengthen characters who want to help out. In fact, if people want to throw those kinds of celebrations up there in an attempt to foster more positive feelings, they are welcome to do so! For players who would rather avoid their characters knowing about Olynthus during their weddings at all, Daimonia's call will not occur until the 12th, so there is plenty of room to backdate.

PROBLEMS IN OLYNTHUS

Olynthus is an old, "lost" city of Daimonia's and she has finally found where it's been hiding. Unfortunately, things are not looking too great for it—grief overwhelms the ruins and the spirits of its inhabitants have emerged, breeding even more negative emotions. It will be up to everyone to try and help soothe these distraught souls and reclaim the city for healing. But it won't be easy. Because of the intensity, visits can only come in short bursts so each one will need to count. But surely as time goes by with sustained efforts, it can heal.

There are numerous effects and problems that are happening in Olynthus, and those listed in the log will be strongest at the beginning of the time period. Over time, the negative effects will be less and less heavy, and by the IC end date in mid July, it should be barely noticeable. Here are some of the shenanigans you can look forward to:

  • Altered emotions, on multiple different negative spectrums.
  • Spooky skull creatures that bite, causing nasty grief infections. If a character is affected by one of these and doesn't get it purified with magical healing, they will basically be an emotional vampire for positivity until the problem is dealt with, and go around leeching good feelings out of their loved ones until said loved ones are apathetic husks. Yes, all the way up through the end of the game if you like. No, they can't actually spread it by chewing on their friends, but feel free to have them try this anyway if that's what floats your boat. Don't worry — the creatures are also easy to avoid if these things do not float your boat, as they are only found outside the city proper.
  • General support for those characters who may not be up for venturing into the city directly.
  • And of course, because the negative effects will lessen over time, players who would like to be involved without participating in intense negativity should feel free to set their threads later in the event.

By the 4th week of the event, characters will also notice music beginning to happen in certain spots in the city. There will be no clear source to it and it won't actually do anything, but feel free to have characters comment on it!

Also we managed to keep the details on the short side for once but the log itself is very beefy!
