TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

Well, yeah.
no subject
still not used to it so. going to feel a little awkward and rub the back of his neck.]
Ah...no problem.
no subject
I'm Jude, by the way.
[he holds out a hand. His gloves are still damp from the rain before but hopefully that won't matter.]
no subject
ah. but that means he has to introduce himself properly. so after a nod of his head, he takes Jude's hand.]
...Shizuo. Shizuo Heiwajima.
[right. it was his first name and then last name...
Jude may notice that although he's not exerting much pressure, that is one tough, firm grip.]
no subject
Jude Mathis, then. It's nice to meet you, Shizuo. [yeah, that is a pretty firm handshake.
anyway. They should probably deal with the doll next. Jude turns on the water to try and wash some of the dirt off of the flowered dress.]
no subject
in the meantime he'll pull out a cigarette and light it while waiting.]
no subject
But he shouldn't say something about it. It'd be rude. They just met. It's not his place to tell a stranger that he's killing himself slowly by putting toxic chemicals into his lungs, as well as the lungs of anyone in the area.
Jude doesn't say anything, but his disapproval manages to make itself known anyway, in the form of a sudden gust of wind that picks up around them, blowing the smoke far away and attempting to put the cigarette out.]
no subject
but he's clueless as to Jude's discontent and just continues on. he does turn though, so as to keep that cigarette alive.]
no subject
Finished with his task now, he turns off the faucet and carries the doll back over.]
I think this is as clean as we can get it without proper soap.
no subject
Let's get it back to her then.
[he could just let Jude handle it, but he wants to see how the girl reacts and hope for a good ending.]
no subject
Jude covers his face to shield his eyes from the wind a little.]
Yeah, before the weather gets much worse.
no subject
no subject
[couldn't be the result of a person, of course not.
Anyway, let's go back to the girl, who hopefully was far enough down the road that she didn't see any of that fight going down.]
no subject
[and then go home. or well to his temporary home.
but fortunately they were far enough away and even if she heard anything, it's not like such commotion is that rare. the better question is—did the girl actually stay there or did her parents how up or something else.]
no subject
Here you are... She should clean right up once you get her home again.
no subject
and although he's distant from it, there is a small smile forming. he might not have gotten thanks, but he's glad the girl is happy and that's all he really needs. and despite how small that little bit of happiness might be, for Shizuo it actually amounts to quite a bit. the light on the lamp post brightens considerably, and even has fluffy little sparks that flutter about it. the subtle noise does catch the man's attention and he glances up, frowning a bit as he moves a few steps away.
They should get these lights fixed...what if someone got burned?
and just like that, the sparks stop, but the light remains considerably brighter than the others.]
