IC Campaigns
Hey guys, just a little reminder about the campaign log that will be posted tomorrow. For those who are new or need a refresher, Gaius and others are interested in there being official representation of the characters. After a large meeting with Ledwika, the chief of Verens, it was decided that they would "elect" representatives. Thus there will be an IC campaign to allow all characters to participate in, either in actually running as a representative or voting for them.
For details about all of this refer to the followings posts: Original Sign-up; Reconfirming + Campaign heads up; Gaius' Announcement.
If you plan on running, comment to the Reconfirming post. This way we will know for sure who is actually running.
Now, here are a few things everyone should know about this:
Phew, that should cover it. Instructions as to how the campaigns are to be run is actually fairly simple and will be written in more detail on the post itself. Candidates will be able to set up booths around the Merchant Square and characters will go around listening to why they're the best and all that. Characters will not ICly vote until Friday, allowing them a few days to think about who they'd want to vote for.
And that's it. If you have any questions about how the campaigns are run ask them here.

Now, here are a few things everyone should know about this:
- Political + Security Force. There are actually two groups to run for. One is for actual political dealings, the other is to lead a designated security force for the characters. You can only choose one. This is both to encourage more players in the groups rather than one player being in both. Note: Those who just want to be members of the security force do not have to worry about running in the campaign. All you'll have to do is just sign-up and hopefully pass the future tests/training sessions. This is only for top-tier leadership roles.
- Max number of reps is three (3). For practicality, the maximum number of representatives for each side is three (3). ICly that would make things the most balanced and OOCly it will be easier to handle. Ideally we'd like to have three exact so there's no less than three, but it will be dependent on how many actually run.
- Character must have been in the game since at least January to run. There is a one (1) month minimum requirement for candidates. The longer the character has been the game, the better they may be in understanding how the community has had to adapt to the game setting. However, even those who have been only in a month may have had leadership type qualities in their home world, and those shouldn't be ignored. Things have also happened since January so those who have joined that month are basically on the same page as everyone else now. Note: The limit is only for candidates. Anyone can vote, so new players/characters, you can still participate in the decision!
- Be prepared to handle or throw events. Ideally, groups like these should be dynamic. No need to make the representatives just be paper pushers, right? With mod approval, players will be able to throw their own events, whether it's using the world itself or direct character actions. Having political turmoil/fallout with the locals is indeed possible. Probably not what the character population would want, but we don't always have to make things "nice." The mods may also come to the players to help with any mod based events or tasks that may directly affect their group or would require their attention. While the game will be shifting outside of the city, there is still a lot of potential for things to happen locally as well.
- Going for the long term. For the above reasons and because these positions are important for the character population, only players who intend to be in the game for the long run should participate. It wouldn't do to have a character chosen as a representative and then disappear the next month. In addition, you should be relatively active and keep up with the game plot.
- Troll campaigns. THAT ALL SAID! It is possible for characters who have no real intention in seriously running or to run and screw everyone over to participate. Look let's be real—most of these people don't know each other so it's highly possible for some to lie through their teeth and fool everyone. That is welcomed; it's politics you can't get much more real than that, right? Just know that if that character does get voted in and is later discovered, fallout will happen (IC actions = IC consequences). But that is why we need everyone to hit up that Reconfirmation post. That will at least give players OOC awareness of what's going on. Just try not to let that sway your decision when voting.
- Voting. As mentioned in the Reconfirmation post, there will be an OOC poll and that will be posted Friday, February 13. Although it will be posted OOCly, players will need to vote with each character who would vote and need to choose ICly who their character would vote for. The poll will run through the weekend and the winner decided on Monday, February 16. If you miss it, you miss it.
