Welcome to

empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

Date reminders. Reserves open Tuesday, August 25th and Applications open Tuesday, September 1st.
Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

PROMPTS

• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try? The following emotions will have more effect than usual: fear, bravery, grief, joy, anger, and calm.

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• Prompt D: (Taken from the Intro Log) Last month a giant tree overtook the clock tower in Merchant's Square, a place that's usually bustling with social activities and businesses. It still is, but this tree is more than just any normal tree.

HELP! Unfortunately for you, you've landed somewhere atop the leafy branches of the tree. If you can't fly or climb down yourself, you might want to call for help, be it shouting at the top of your lungs or accidentally shouting at the top of your mental lungs for all to hear telepathically. Just be careful not to fall—maybe someone will catch you but would you really want to take those chances?
Memory petal. Beautiful petals the size of one's palm continue to scatter about the city, most of them falling around the tower. These petals will start reflecting a memory of the individual closest to it. Memories are ranging from those that display one's greatest achievement to their greatest fears.
In the tower. Did you happen to wake up inside the tower instead? Bet you weren't expecting it to be dark and dreary with rustling vines that move on their own. There are some hostile creatures, ranging from giant insects and snakes, but easy to fend off. It's even easier if you think happy thoughts. However, if you succumb to your fears, then things will worsen.

• Prompt E: The long awaited tournament has finally arrived, and you can be a part of it!

In the Arena. Whether it was voluntarily or forced into it, you are now facing another Otherworlder to battle. Fortunately, it's not to the death. Unfortunately, how skilled either of you are is completely unknown. The biggest question of all is—can you even fight? But fear not, there's another secret weapon in your arsenal: your emotions. Whether it's striking fear into your opponent's heart with a bolt of courage, or making the ground break and crumble from the adrenaline, this battle will be unlike any have ever seen before!
Sparring match. Maybe you're not quite cut out for an actual bout in the ring. But how about a spar instead? Or maybe you accidentally walked in on someone's practice and are now the target.
Spectating. Shout louder! Let the stadium ring with your voice! Just try not to create too much excitement to actually cause the stadium to physically ring. Wouldn't want it to collapse on itself.

• Prompt F: The weather is a little hypersensitive at the moment, what with all the excitement in the air. Emotions are in full affect as people talk about the winners and losers of the matches. The results can be quite...interesting. For this in heated arguments, that is definitely a dangerous storm brewing around the area. Or maybe the air is getting so hot, things are starting to melt. Maybe it's the opposite—the air is ice cold and a blizzard might happen in the middle of summer! For those gossiping and squealing about their favorites, the sun seems to cast hotter and brighter rays upon them. The air just seems to be electrified! For those lamenting over losses, it just never stops wanting to rain.

• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include something that looks a lot like a vuvuzela and/or mirrors.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. ... Traesto? Really?

[Adachi had spent some time messing around with all the spells he had access to when he first entered the TV to escape from the Investigation Team, but... That? That was never going to work. Did this kid really think this was inside a TV??]

Uhh... Man, what's with the special effects...? That was a pretty big snake. You're really into the whole roleplay, thing, huh?

[Adachi you needed to whisper a little more to yourself, or at least not close to someone like Naoya who had an inkling of what you might be hiding...no one would react to a persona like that if they hadn't seen something similar. There was just a...limit to anyone being that dumb. He might not have Yu's gift for seeing the truth...but he had a lot of common sense.]

I prefer video games.

[He said that once, but does so again, as he looks at the tree and where Adachi is located, his eyes narrowing. The wind begins to pick up. He just needs to concentrate and...]

Magaru!

[The wind slices precisely around the branches he's sitting on, or at least attempts to. And if that doesn't work, the large woosh of the wind spell would be enough to send someone spiraling to the ground. And then maybe he'd catch you!

...maybe.]

W-wait wait that's too mu--

[Adachi tries to right himself and dodge out of the way of the spell, but nope! He can't move fast enough to dodge that shit. The branches slice off, sending him tumbling downwards, just in time to catch the crossbreeze and go spiralling into the air, ending up about forty feet above Naoya and starting to fall. Fast.

... He really hopes the kid had a plan for catching him, because he really doesn't want to have to summon his Persona over something this stupid.]

Y-you better catch me, kid!!

[Urgh. Fine okay.]

Vishnu!

[Another flash of light before the persona appears above him, catching Adachi just before he's about to hit the ground. For a few more tense seconds, he's forced to look at that thing's facemask. Eventually it disappears like the one before it, and Naoya stands next to him, hands on his sides.]

Better?

...

[Adachi's stared at worse. ... Still, that's pretty damn creepy, honestly. He quickly picks himself up once the Persona disappears, brushing himself off and straightening his tie.]

Uh... Yeah, thanks. Hey, that one was pretty impressive! Some kind of tokusatsu or something? It totally surprised me!

...

[He sighs. Now that he's much closer, he can feel the hum inside the other. His own persona is riveting for a fight? No that can't be right...maybe he should test the waters. He's not a mind reader, but at worst, the guy will just think this is all silly.]

...not really. It's a Persona...like the one you have inside you too.

[He's Emperor arcana and can be pretty authoritative when he wants to be.]

[Crap. CRAP. This is bad.

Wait, no it isn't. Because Adachi really can't be bothered to give two shits.]

Huh. Look, I appreciate the rescue and all, but I'm not really gonna start joining in your roleplay right now, 'kay? I've got other stuff to do. ... Probably.

[Are you sure about that, Adachi? Naoya might be a bit smaller than him, but he's hard to ignore. His aura is a lot wilder than Yu's. To be able to be the leader of a gang of misfits, he's not exactly the type to let bullshit pass for too long. The limit has been reached.]

After all of that, you still want to pretend it's a game? What exactly are you hiding? [Is he someone working for Kandori? Even after his death, there might be others who wanted to continue his work...]

What is this, an interrogation? Geez, and I thought I was the detective here... [He grumbles a bit. He's really not concerned in the slightest, though- He's got nothing particular to hide. He just doesn't feel the need to be forthcoming, either.]

Okay, I'll play along, then. Even if I did have one of these- what'd you call them, personal problems?- What does it matter?

What your intentions are.

[The self suffused with divine love...the self-capable of demonic cruelty...]

We all wear masks. I just want to make sure this world isn't in danger. I can't sense my friends around, so I'll make sure to take care of it myself if I need to.

[He's acting like the grey-haired brat, but sporting a school outfit that looks more like he came from the 1990s. Or maybe his voice is a little more threatening than Yu ever made it. Yu didn't walk around with submachine gun either.]

Intentions? Uh... I guess just go hang around, maybe see if the cops here need any help?

[It's not a lie. He really has no intention of doing anything bad. Play by the world's rules! He promised.]

I'm a cop, remember? Save this for the bad guys. ... Also, I should probably confiscate your gun, but... I'll let it slide.

[That seems to satisfy him somewhat, but he's a bit annoyed the other isn't quite answering his questions. He could draw out the persona, but he's not quite like Nanjo to the point of a verbal smack-down.]

I don't think the laws here are the same as in Japan. [He touches his gun, it's almost become a tool to his side, he was going to have trouble putting it away once he got him but...] ...and you know nothing of the Sebec cooperation, or Kandori?

[God, this is bringing up some bad memories. What is with kids these days and interrogating their elders over every little thing?? What a shitty society Adachi is forced to live in.]

Uh, Sebec rings a bell, didn't they used to be like a power company or something...? I think I saw commercials for them as a kid. Kandori, though, nope. We done here?
