TEST DRIVE: SEPTEMBER
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Tuesday, August 25th and Applications open Tuesday, September 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try? The following emotions will have more effect than usual: fear, bravery, grief, joy, anger, and calm.
• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...
• Prompt D: (Taken from the Intro Log) Last month a giant tree overtook the clock tower in Merchant's Square, a place that's usually bustling with social activities and businesses. It still is, but this tree is more than just any normal tree.
• Prompt E: The long awaited tournament has finally arrived, and you can be a part of it!
• Prompt F: The weather is a little hypersensitive at the moment, what with all the excitement in the air. Emotions are in full affect as people talk about the winners and losers of the matches. The results can be quite...interesting. For this in heated arguments, that is definitely a dangerous storm brewing around the area. Or maybe the air is getting so hot, things are starting to melt. Maybe it's the opposite—the air is ice cold and a blizzard might happen in the middle of summer! For those gossiping and squealing about their favorites, the sun seems to cast hotter and brighter rays upon them. The air just seems to be electrified! For those lamenting over losses, it just never stops wanting to rain.
• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include something that looks a lot like a vuvuzela and/or mirrors.

• Prompt D: (Taken from the Intro Log) Last month a giant tree overtook the clock tower in Merchant's Square, a place that's usually bustling with social activities and businesses. It still is, but this tree is more than just any normal tree.
- HELP! Unfortunately for you, you've landed somewhere atop the leafy branches of the tree. If you can't fly or climb down yourself, you might want to call for help, be it shouting at the top of your lungs or accidentally shouting at the top of your mental lungs for all to hear telepathically. Just be careful not to fall—maybe someone will catch you but would you really want to take those chances?
- Memory petal. Beautiful petals the size of one's palm continue to scatter about the city, most of them falling around the tower. These petals will start reflecting a memory of the individual closest to it. Memories are ranging from those that display one's greatest achievement to their greatest fears.
- In the tower. Did you happen to wake up inside the tower instead? Bet you weren't expecting it to be dark and dreary with rustling vines that move on their own. There are some hostile creatures, ranging from giant insects and snakes, but easy to fend off. It's even easier if you think happy thoughts. However, if you succumb to your fears, then things will worsen.
• Prompt E: The long awaited tournament has finally arrived, and you can be a part of it!
- In the Arena. Whether it was voluntarily or forced into it, you are now facing another Otherworlder to battle. Fortunately, it's not to the death. Unfortunately, how skilled either of you are is completely unknown. The biggest question of all is—can you even fight? But fear not, there's another secret weapon in your arsenal: your emotions. Whether it's striking fear into your opponent's heart with a bolt of courage, or making the ground break and crumble from the adrenaline, this battle will be unlike any have ever seen before!
- Sparring match. Maybe you're not quite cut out for an actual bout in the ring. But how about a spar instead? Or maybe you accidentally walked in on someone's practice and are now the target.
- Spectating. Shout louder! Let the stadium ring with your voice! Just try not to create too much excitement to actually cause the stadium to physically ring. Wouldn't want it to collapse on itself.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
this will be gold
He settles for blowing into it from slightly farther away. Consider this the payoff of our social link, kid.]
... Huh? Whoa, Yu-kun?! I didn't know you were here! ... Uh, sorry about blowing this right in your face like that, haha...
what do you mean you have a persona
Another familiar face was nice to have. Especially someone he did consider a close acquaintance.]
Don't worry. I've been here for a month now...but I've never seen these before. [They weren't exactly the type of things Japanese would use even during sport tournaments.] Are they made just for that purpose?
laughing persona what?? just me and my vuvuzela yu-kun
Oh, uh... Yeah, something like that. I think they bring them to soccer games or something in some country or another. ... Kinda fun just blowing them to bug people, though, you know? Make people really jump.
new persona unlocked
social linkinginteracting with him and getting to know Adachi more, that trouble-making aspect of him isn't too alienish to Yu.]I don't think you should bring that to a crime scene then...uncle probably wouldn't like that at all.
[Um...]
the facade needed to face daily life, the persona vuvuzela-no-okami
... B-but, I mean, of course I wouldn't, you know? There's a certain decorum you've gotta follow at that kind of place, stuffy as it is. I wouldn't want to get stuck doing paperwork for weeks on end just for blowing this at a corpse...
that should have been his persona's instrument in Dancing all Night tbh
Not to mention that he trusts him. There's still that you have to break in him, Adachi-san.]
I'd be more worried about my uncle's reaction than anything else, personally. [At least he was attempting humor. In his own way.] ...maybe if you keep using it, he'll find you.
oh my god the images
Haha, I mean, who do you think would be assigning me the paperwork? Dojima-san's a good guy, but when he brings down the hammer on you for goofing off, he doesn't do it lightly. I'd be stuck in administrative 'til spring at least.
... Fun to think about, though. Sometimes I think the police need someone to light a fire under their asses, you know? Get something moving in that stuffy little town. ... T-that's off the record, Yu-kun.
no subject
Sometimes he had terrible judgement of character. Or he was too trusting.
Or both.]
Well...there's a lot of mysteries around here to solve, and people looking for help.
no subject
I guess there's always some need for a cop, though, even in a place like this. Sure hope there's something more entertaining than "meat bowl store" or "bookstore" here, though, know what I mean? You and me, we'd both thrive in a city more than somewhere like this. Metropolis with emotion magic, sure, that'd be great...
no subject
you baby piece shit cop]Did you ever pass the Meat Bowl Challenge? [Or could he even afford that?] When we go back, I should take you.
no subject
... Geez, what are they paying you students at your part-time jobs that you can afford that? I could hardly afford Aiya on normal days, let alone that thing...
Too bad he'll probably be told about the situation in game but this is both sad and hilarious at the
[Adachi are you secretly a brony.
Is Pinky Pie your favorite.]I could say...I've never been to one. [Unless you count Rise's dungeon. He really didn't want to count that as a nightclub. Ever.]
I had a few part-time jobs...
[...but most of his money came from a certain velvet attendant wanting him to do things or reselling old weapons and armor, but that might be...well, he can't tell him that, exactly. Adachi has no idea that the Shadow World exists.]
And if you finish it, its free.
[Guess who managed to do just that after a lot of tries...]
no subject
Whaaat, really? Man, you've got to live it up a bit! ... Wait, you're underage, aren't you? Crap, don't tell Dojima-san I just told you to go to a nightclub. That... probably wouldn't go well.
Geez, after a long day working with your uncle, I can hardly finish instant ramen and some cabbage, let alone something like that. The guy gives me ulcers... ... Not that he's not a great guy, and all!! Haha, heh, uh...
... Yeah, This entire conversation follows the same rules as our conversations at Junes, in case you hadn't figured that out. Dojima-san doesn't need to know about any of this!
no subject
[Adachi-san you are the worst influence. Ever.]
I wouldn't go there anyway, you don't have to worry. [Yu is perfectly content
with his 7 girlfriends and Yosukewaiting until the time comes. No need to rush everything, right?]At this rate if you keep saying his name, he'll show up. Like that movie?
[Well he was in a good enough mood to tease him.]
no subject
... Let's- Let's stop talking about he who shall not be named, then. Sending chills up my spine, seriously!
no subject
[Hahaha, well at least he was stably distracted. And vuvuzela-less so Yu had one this hand, as far as he was concerned.]
How long have you been in the city? Do you need someone to show you around?
no subject
Ultimax canon bitch]Huh? Oh, about a week, maybe? Couldn't tell you, I kinda lose track of time when I'm not having to work. I think I've got the place down, unless there's some kind of hot spot you wanna show me? ... That doesn't involve eating twenty pounds of steak?
no subject
[This place is pretty big.]
Maybe you could get a job here...I've found a few myself. [But that's Yu for...uh...you. He looks around them, thinking hard before answering.] There's a few restaurants around here. A bit less meat than that too...
no subject
[He sighs, hanging his head.] Nope, that's it, someone out there hates me. Doomed to the boonies forever...
no subject
[Again, this place is big enough for that and he wouldn't be surprised...]
It's not so bad here, but your emotions become physical if they are too strong...
no subject
no subject
I don't know if he'd be able to set you on fire. Maybe struck by lightening...I guess that could set you on fire, if you're not careful...
[This is the teenager who beat you, Adachi.]
no subject
Lightning's worse! But, nah, I was thinking more spewing fire out of his mouth like some kind of demon dragon. Maybe growing some horns.
