TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

"A talent show!" she said, wagging her finger. "You know, where people go up on stage and perform in front of an audience. You can sing, dance, tell jokes, or whatever! Either as a solo performance, or in a group."
no subject
"Hm...while I am talented, I'm not sure if it would really cut it for a show like this. I do have a few friends who might benefit from this, though." Yes, he did say "benefit." What he could mean by that was only for him to know—or if she asked. He then looked back at her. "Are you the one hosting this? Or did the managers just have a good eye in picking their recruiters?"
no subject
"I just thought it'd be fun, something to get everyone's spirits up, you know?"
no subject
"With everything that's been happening recently, that's actually not a bad idea." What with all of their sudden arrivals and the locals still being on edge about them. "And with this show's host being a pretty, energetic girl like you, I really can't see it failing," he grinned in a goodnatured manner. He could give her one last flirty compliment at least before reining it in. Keeping her own spirits high would help, too, right?
"While I might not be part of it," he continued, "I could probably help spread the word around and come by and watch."
no subject
"That'd be great," Minako replied. "Though I wish I could interest you in doing something! I'm gonna participate myself!"

"The show's gonna be my big idol debut! I'll be singing and dancing!"
no subject
"Big idol debut, huh? I'm sure you'll be a big hit."
no subject
"The more acts this show has, the better. By the end of the night, I want everyone to feel happy and confident, and filled with the Goddess of Love's energy!"

So maybe it was a bit much to ask for everyone to be happy here, but Minako would still try to spread good vibes. It wasn't every day you went to a world that could be fixed simply with positive energy. If only life on earth were so easy!

"But going it alone sounds pretty rough. You don't plan on having any back-up to help?"
no subject
"Did you want to volunteer?" she grinned. "I could use all the help I could get!"
no subject
"Who me?" His expression changing as he grinned, arms crossing over his chest. "I get the feeling you don't want me around just for volunteer work," he teased.
Though in all seriousness, him helping out with a talent show? Alvin had done a few odd jobs before, but this one would be a real first. What would he even do? Other than probably do the heavy lifting as what usually happened to all guys who got roped in by pretty young girls. On the other hand, it wasn't like he had anything better to do.

"In other words, manual labor."
He called it.
no subject
"Well, I wouldn't call it that," Minako said, pressing her hand to her cheek.
no subject
So with an apologetic grin, he said, "Oh? Sorry, then. Guess I'm used to there being some kind of a hidden agenda."
