TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

That boar will have no idea what hit it.
[power combo these two shall be.]
Though that makes me wonder—think we can still Link in battle?
no subject
That's a good question, I'm not sure. I suppose we could try it. It couldn't hurt. [Though with the mind linking amulets on them she just hopes she can't hear his thoughts somehow if they successfully Link.]
no subject
Can you even channel spirits here?
[do they...even exist he does not know.]
no subject
No, I haven't been able to channel any spirits yet. I've tried but I noticed something interesting. When I thought to summon Undine it caused it to rain. I caused a wind storm by trying to summon Sylph. With Gnome there was a small earthquake and Efreet made the temperature rise.
I don't remember feeling any particular emotion in my attempts but perhaps that was the cause. Or maybe it was them somehow trying to heed my calling. [Still so many mysteries to solve here, it seemed.] So it might yet still be possible.

there's a slight arch of the brow as he hears her explain what happened.]
Interesting. It's hard to really say if these people use artes, but they have those elemental cores. Maybe there is something to this place that you're pulling mana from?
[who knows, it's kind of beyond his field of expertise.]
Let's just hope you don't accidentally summon a hurricane while we're out there.
no subject
There definitely aren't spirits here so I'm not sure where this energy is coming from. I think your theory of some other kind of mana source seems most plausible. I'd certainly like to look more into it.
A hurricane might be quite helpful against our foe. [Is she kidding? It's unclear...]
no subject
Just make sure I'm out of the way when it happens.
[he can totally see her doing this. like for serious.]
no subject
Just make sure you're fast enough to get out of the way then. [No mercy.]
All right, enough talk. Meet me at the pumpkin fields.
no subject
he chuckles a bit and gives her his traditional one handed wave salute.]
You got it.
[and off to the pumpkin fields he goes. well this should definitely be an easy job between the two of them, especially if they can Link together.]
no subject
Milla is already there when Alvin arrives though she has only just arrived herself. Hands on her hips, she surveys the surroundings fields. There... doesn't appear to be anything here?]
Did we beat the monster here? [Maybe it just hasn't come out of its hole yet or something...]
no subject
[if the whole emotions thing applies to animals and monsters, anyway.]
Either way, we probably should fight it away from the fields. Wouldn't want our pay deducted because of collateral damage.
no subject
She's already walking toward the outskirts of the fields as he says that though for a different reason.]
There's a hill on this side. Perhaps we can see it coming more clearly if we're at the top.
no subject
[and he'll follow after her since she is and will always be the leader.]
