TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

I've fought my fair share, yeah. Haven't we, Repede? [Looking down to his companion, a rather wolf-looking war dog. The animal only yawns at his human, looking rather content but ready for whatever mission Yuri arranged for them next.]
-And you? Not in for any surprises, are ya?
[Directing Alvin's comment right back at him.]
no subject
Alvin grins at the return.]
Given that I used to be a mercenary back home, the only surprise would this piggy being bigger than I expect. Even then it won't be anything I haven't handled before.
[like taking down the Devil Beasts. yeesh.]
Name's Alvin.
no subject
[Can't say Yuri has much of an issue with the guy so far.]
Yuri, Yuri Lowell and this here is Repede. Where should we meet, Alvin?
no subject
[hah, pretty sure Yuri would have a lot of issues if he learned about Alvin's past. but that's for another time, another day.]
The place is up north, so the northern exit should be fine. I'll finalize things over here and set up the travel arrangements, so—meet in an hour?
no subject
Yuri cracks his neck--] Sounds good, meet ya there.
[About and hour later Alvin will be able to find Mr. Lowell hanging out at the northern exit, chilling on the architecture like your typical protagonist. Itching to complete their mission, distracting himself with some candy he bought with the salary he's earned form doing jobs.
This place has all sorts of crazy sweets he's never tried before. Nibbling on something similar to this. The war-hound, Repede, was with him as well. Resting beside Yuri, keeping look out even though appearing asleep.
He's been waiting, so when Alvin is seen through the corner of Yuri's eye he immediately looks over and waves.]
no subject
upon seeing the longhaired swordsman's wave, he returns it with one of his own.]
Hey. Sorry to keep you waiting.
[even if he does arrive within the hour time period, it's clear Yuri's been there for a little while at least. didn't quite peg the guy being one for sweets, though. although Yuri won't be able to see the gun hidden beneath his coat, he will see the rather large sword strapped to his back. between these two, that boar is definitely getting sliced up.]
The guy who'll take us there should be coming around, if not already outside.
no subject
Not a problem. [Jumping down from his make-shift set. Yuri is equipped as well, carrying his sword casually by the sheath strings. Just your typical one-handed sword, light weight, perfect for swinging it around and "showing off" (--as Flynn would call it.)
Repede also joins them, keeping by Yuri, the dagger around his collar is noticeable... Dog's and weapons, nice.]
This place sure has it's share of monsters... [Which makes sense, they don't have a barrier after all..] Been here long?
no subject
as the distance between them closes, Alvin can see the dagger on Repede. ... ....yeah he's going to ask about that when he has the chance.]
Seems pretty average to me. But nah, not that long. About two weeks.
no subject
Can't say the normal person where I'm from would be used to this sort of consent danger... [Though, if you live outside the safety of a barrier that's different. The guard also deals with many monsters and missions regarding number population. Nomral folk, though? Nah, they have comfort and security of living behind the barrier blastia..
Yuri isn't considered such--- normal, that is. No, he's what they'd call a 'wanted criminal'.] So we've been here about the same, alright. So you've seen 'em, people from different worlds. I'm guessing our worlds aren't the same either.
no subject
at his "different world" comment, Alvin gives his trademark one hand salute.]
Most likely. I come from a place called... [well this is actually a trick answer now, isn't it?] Well I was born somewhere else, but I've lived in Rieze Maxia for most of my life. Over there, the monsters usually stay out on the high roads or caves or whatever—places where only the hearty adventurers would go. It's not uncommon for mercenaries like me help assist travelers or just clear out any of the more unruly beasts.
no subject
Nonetheless, Yuri's isn't particular special and honestly one that you could relate too.]
Rieze Maxia? ... Never heard of it. [He shrugs, he assumed he wouldn't but-] It sounds complicated but where I'm from we have these things called blastia. They can do all kinds of things. Around our cities we have what's called barrier blastia that keep monsters out, so your everyday-joe doesn't see much monster action in his life.
Outside the barriers? That's another story... but that's also a good reason people never leave. [Not everyone is programmed for fighting, that's why the strong venture. That tends to be the case no matter where you live.] -Anyway, is that our guy? [Pointing to an approaching man.]
no subject
but he listens with interest. blastia, huh? he's a bit curious and half wonders if they're anything like the spyrix or even spirit fossils from his world. but at Yuri's indication, he look sover and nods.]
That's him.
[he then waves him over and much negotiating and timeskipping later, they're on their way to the farm. Player B now has option to:
A) continue conversation while the two loaf around at the back of a wagon or;
B) jump to the farm!]
