We hope everyone is having a good holiday season! We have several announcements, including details about the event this month, so please read everything!

HALF AC THIS MONTH

We mentioned it earlier, but for the month of December, everyone only needs to provide half of the usual Activity Check to pass. Thus you only need:

However, if you provide the normal full AC, you can earn yourself a free pass to use on any of your characters during the next year.

In addition, we are going to make a few adjustments to the AC starting next month that will hopefully better accommodate the current state of the game. Although we are not discussing it fully right now, just know that we are going to be relaxing some of our previous restrictions since the reasons for them existing are no longer relevant. Some will remain because they have proven to do their purpose, but lifting some of the others will balance it out. We will be using the Jan/Feb cycle for the test run since December would be a poor choice to really see how it goes, and will announce the changes in January.

NEW AIADA

As we announced last month, Pixle stepped down as Aiada and a member of the Think Tank. But we already have a replacement and are happy to welcome Reena back on the team! She has a lot of ideas for our little spritely Arehtei, so look forward to them!

EMOTION TRACKER UPDATE

This is the final month for the Emotion Tracker! It has been updated with a new sheet for the coming month. If you forgot any threads from last month, you can still submit to the tracker and just have it count toward this month. This includes any events that occurred.

Well if we needed a reason for this bizarre blizzard, we definitely have something to go with now—but for real, a few things will have been amped up a bit thanks to this negative dip.

In addition, because this is the last month for the tracker, the submissions will affect Selenium next month in some ways. This month will provide a lot of opportunity for characters to experience a lot of emotions, so we encourage all players to submit to the tracker for one last hurrah!

Anyone who is interested in the breakdown of points and emotional trends can find it here, but don't worry too much about it if numbers aren't your thing.

MYSTERY GIFTS FOR DECEMBER

Since this is the final month for the ET, this is also going to be our final month for the gifts. They will not be given out next month. Thus everyone will be receiving the following:

• Arehtei on the Abode (see the Task Board GT0101 for details, but it's a reference to a certain elf used to watch children)
  
• Eternal mini snowman that will always snow no matter where it is or how hot it gets.
  
• Silver star ornament that will twinkle when there is a lot of festive cheer.

STATE OF THE AREHTEI

Appointments can still be made with individual Arehtei here, complete with updated player list. Here’s a glimpse of where each of the Arehtei are at right now:

• Aiada - After what happened last month, Aiada is looking forward to the next one, since she knows a lot of people tend to have celebrations, and if there's something Aiada loves, it's an excuse to make braids in people's hair seeing others having fun and being appreciative of each other. Expect the sprites to dump snow and/or snowballs on unsuspecting people to get them in a 'festive' mood, and make decorative braid crowns in their hair if they aren't careful. Watch out for the pinecones and flying mistletoe.
  
• Daimonia - Though the cooling weather isn't doing much for Daimonia's personal mood, she seems to be cheering up since last month. With Ennea comes a season of celebration from Otherworlders and natives who have taken on their traditions -- she'll be watching closer this year to learn more about them, and may even feel so inclined as to join in.
  
• Elios - Elios has been pining for Peromei while she's been away, but he is now ecstatic that she has returned! And with a special gift!!! Oh what great joy! Because of this, his aligned may feel a little more affectionate with their loved ones.
  
• Peromei - Weirdly, Peromei is still doing pretty well despite the negativity creeping up on the island, although she has settled into more of a neutral state than anything particularly hopeful or despair-filled. The gross weather this month is going to totally bork her sleep schedule, however, as she spends her days snoring away in the Memory Tree and her nights trotting around to investigate certain lanterns. Perhaps she will even join in on the caroling. No one wants this, but she might.
  
• Piphron - In passing, Elios recently commented that it would be nice to spend the human holidays getting the Arehtei together and perhaps Piphron's mountain, being so large, could accommodate them all? Thus, any visitors to Piphron's domain will find that it is starkly empty for the entirety of the month. There is a sign left beside the door announcing that Piphron is on a world journey and to not wait for his return. In actuality, he can be found hiding in the Ferril Mountains from his family, collecting vast quantities of serpentinite, his favorite rock. He will begrudgingly respond to telepathic summons.
  
• Sosyne - Due to all the negativity this month, Sosyne's taken off from the memory tree in an angry huff and headed out of town again. She'll still respond to requests for completed crystals, but she won't be sticking around for long chats or anything of that nature this month.
  
• Thras - After the retrieval of his artifact from the ruins of Ephyria, Thras is in very high spirits, grateful to all those who assisted in this venture. For the time being, he'll be returning to Shaarnath, but not for long: since he only hatched in the middle of last year's seasonal festivities, he'll be looking to enjoy them firsthand this time around, in addition to making regular trips back to Ephyria with his guards to see if there is more that can be done to restore the city.

CITY OF THRAS, RUINS OF EPHYRIA - WRAP UP

Thanks to everyone's efforts, the city of Ephyria was explored, the labyrinth navigated and the fearsome minotaur lurking at its heart defeated after being weakened by the efforts of the puzzle and combat teams. Though the labyrinth collapsed shortly afterwards, thanks to the sword's protection, the Otherworlders were able to escape into a now restored city. More information about the ending can be found in the event epilogue post and teams from Shaarnath have begun forming expeditions to see what else remains to be discovered in Ephyria now that the sword has been recovered.

As players likely guessed, the sword is Thras's artifact, and that just leaves Aiada, Daimonia, and Sosyne's to be found. They will be explored further in the coming year. Characters will have opportunities to go to Ephyria for various tasks in the future, but if there are any players who have other interests in it, please let us know!

PLAYER ORGANIZED PARTIES AND EVENTS FOR THIS MONTH

We'd like to inform everyone that there are a couple of player organized parties and events happening this month outside of our event. As far we know, Sora is holding a Christmas party and the log will be posted early and forward dated to Christmas. Usagi will have her annual toy drive. We will happily update this space with other details if needed! If other players have anything in mind, please let us know and we can add you in here, too.

WINTER WONDERLAND?

Similar to the Ivy and Pumpkinvasion "event" we had back in October, this month we have an "atmospheric" event that has effects that will last for a large portion of the month, but will end before Christmas. To give time for players to enjoy any forward dated Christmas logs, our event won't really start until Friday, December 6th and will end Friday, December 20th. This will allow for any IC effects to have reasonably worn off and allow characters enough time to recuperate before any Christmas related events occur.

As for the event itself, it is basically a very weird blizzard. Peromei had been out exploring during November and has returned, but unfortunately a few things stuck with her. Starting today, December 1st, snow will start falling and continue to accumulate throughout the week. Friday is when the real weird stuff happens, and this is what you can expect from the log that will posted on that day:

• Mistletoe. This is not the usual mistletoe that characters are familiar with from previous years. This plant will actually be aggressively mobile and attach itself to a victim. The person will then seek out what they loves or longs for the most—and not necessarily romantic. It could be a feeling of wanted affection of a parent, the support of a friend, sibling bonding, etc. This mistletoe is influenced by Elios and Peromei, however, so if you want to go traditional you can. Most importantly, the effects are indiscriminate. Sure one could easily seek out someone they're familiar with, but this mistletoe will have enough influence for their "host" to seek out random strangers who can fit the bill. So if you ever wanted to explore a certain aspect of your character's personality and want to try find CR that could fill those gaps, this is a perfect opportunity!
  
  
• Blizzard. This blizzard is none like any have faced before. There is going to be some despair mixed in with the snow, and while it won't make anyone ooze black goop, it will make those "winter blues" a reality. The natural dangers of big snow buildup and icy patches will be prevalent. Some may find themselves facing a wall of snow upon opening their doors and will need to shovel themselves out or find some other way to get rid of it. The snow will fall heavily for the first two weeks but will taper off to just light, consistent snowfall for the rest of the month.
  
  
  • Naptime. Over time, people will start feeling rather morose and lethargic, enough to the point where all they want to do is sleep. Even sleeping outside sounds like a great idea even when it really isn't. Normal means of waking those affected won't result much except for a lot of grumpiness, but fortunately there are solutions.
    
  • Caroling. Music is proven to be an excellent way to ward off the sleep. Whether it's good music… In any case, jingle bell collars necklaces will be handed out for people to wear, and it should help stave off some of the sleepiness. But the real music from carolers will have a stronger effect and will help wake up anyone already asleep. Ideally the music should be pleasant to the ears, but there really is no requirement for the music to be good. Just positive.
    
  • Light the way. The blizzard will be so thick that not even the sunlight will pass through, which can make conditions even more dangerous. Special lanterns will be set up and handed out for everyone to infuse with hope. This will help reduce some of the blizzard's despairing effects. Aiada's sprites will also be helping, so appreciation will also help make the lanterns glow brighter.
  
  
  
  • Werewolf flu. Yes, you read that correctly. On top of this bizarre weather, there is also going to be a very bizarre disease going around. Passed around like the flu, those infected will be afflicted with various "werewolf" traits. This can be from partial transformations of ears, tail, a little bit of fur, but otherwise mostly human to full wolf transformation. At least they will mostly maintain their personality and ability to speak regardless of the state. And yes, those who turn into 100% wolf can turn back to human, but it can be unpredictable so have fun with that. How severe it gets varies.
    
    
    • Who's a good wolfie. As for one's behavior, those infected will find themselves much more affectionate and will seek the comfort of others, especially other wolves because of that pack mentality. Not romantically per se, just a bit clingy like our friendly pet doggos. The more positive attention and affection they get, the faster the flu will pass. However, if they are neglected their behavior will become more feral like a wild wolf and the condition will worsen. Trust will be required to coax them back. A cure WILL be found, but that won't be until the end so. Enjoy being a furry.
      
    • Playtime. One side effect of the flu is that those infected will have a lot more energy than usual with a desire to frolic and play around. Despite the conditions, a large area by the lake will be sectioned off to allow everyone to just goof off and have fun.
      
    • Receiving the cure. When the vaccine is made, it will be distributed all over. However, there will be some who have become feral and distrustful due to neglect and won't take it so easily, so some...more aggressive measures may need to be taken. Grab a net and a blow dart.
    
    
  
  As mentioned earlier, we will have a designated log that everyone can use, but players are free to use the effects in their own logs and threads outside of it.
  
  This event is also an opt-in event. Although it's impossible to ignore the blizzard, all effects are optional. It's definitely possible for people to remain unaffected and mostly go about their day. Use of the teleporters will also be closed during the event. One reason is the heavy blizzard, but once the werewolf flu strikes, the island will essentially be quarantined to prevent the disease from spreading to other cities. The teleporters will reopen after a vaccine has been made at the end of the event.
  
  That should be everything. We hope everyone will take this opportunity to form some new (if interesting and possibly estranged) CR with this event! Because we are not posting a CR Meme this month, you are free to use this mod post for plotting or seeking out certain CR, particularly with the mistletoe. For the werewolf flu, is it a progressive thing, where characters infected get more and more wolf-ish as their symptoms worsen? And I take it that once partially transformed, they won't change back to a lesser state until the cure/vaccine is administered?

It can happen, but we'll let that be an optional thing since some players might not want that kind of effect on their characters. And you correct on the partial transformations! And since we're on it, even if someone transforms fully they can still return to their human form, just with the additional ears, tails, etc.

Character: Kevin Regnard
Participating in: Kevin's getting saddled with adorable ears and a swishy tail this month because I enjoy making his life difficult in stupid ways. Other than that, he is aligned to Peromei and actually has a pretty easy time navigating despair, so he's going to be acting as a hope generator this month. The bakery his in-game family runs will serve as a sanctuary for carolers and others seeking shelter from the storm, and he'll also be patrolling the streets as an Enforcer when he's not topping off hope lights -- he can teleport through shadows using his dunamis, which makes him ideal for rescuing lost folks, or just for getting people from place to place without dealing with foul weather.
Seeking: If Kevin does get mistletoed, what he'll be seeking is an apprentice of some sort, actually. One of his strongest in-game relationships was with a character he served as a mentor for who wound up being more like a shitty little brother attached to his hip over the three years this character was in game. They went home over the summer and he's had an apprentice-shaped hole in his life ever since. He can teach sword skills, fighting skills, even dunamis -- and in fact does this daily at the Enforcers, he's a captain in the training division. But he isn't truly close with any of his Enforcer students. What he really craves is a young knight of sorts that he can guide along on a more personal level, where the lessons he has to pass on can go deeper than simply "here's how to whack somebody with a sword". I don't expect anyone to truly replace the relationship he had with his first apprentice and ICly he wouldn't allow that anyway, but it's something important enough to him that I'm not going to saddle him with the mistletoe unless something is worked out in advance!
Offering: I think I already got most of it, honestly. He's a mentor figure, and he's seen enough shit that he walks the line between "big bro" and "dad". Will occasionally make a speech about hope and feel gross about it after, that sort of thing.
Extra: Nothing I can think of!

Character: Ryuunosuke Naruhodou
Participating in: Mistletoe, sleeping, lantern and werewolf. The mistletoe will probably have him gravitate towards people with food or seek friendship support. Definitely considering to go full werewolf that's super friendly and will jump on anyone, but can easily become wary if treated poorly or accused for something he didn't do. He can find someone sleeping or be the one sleeping himself, probably outside where he shouldn't be. While he'll infuse the lanterns with hope, he'll also utilize it to find people lost in the blizzard, be it with someone else, or looking for said person.
Seeking: Looking for a bit of both, mostly seeking to create new CR. A lot of his friends have gone home, so I want him to create new ones, while also working on the establishing CRs. Not particularly looking for romantic antics for this, just friendship and maybe a sense of family (Maybe with a wolf pack). I be down for positive or negative CR, misunderstandings while as a werewolf, getting cuddly while under the mistletoe's influence....or he'll try to swipe your food cause food is love for him.
Offering: Naruhodou can offer family, sibling or friendship bonding and he carries a bit of optimism with him when others need it. He has experience taking care of animals, so he could try his luck handling a werewolf or two. They'll probably like his cooking, yes? He's also can be used as a buttmonkey, cause being dragged into bad situations is part of his resume.
Extra: I'm honestly open to plotting anything that isn't romance.

Participating in: So Nep is for sure going to be getting hit with the nap time effects and will bring plenty of pillows for anyone else that wants to nap with. Also, not a full transformation but she'll have ears for the flu and want to do more physically activity compared to normal.
Seeking: I'm honestly open to anything, I kinda fell off last month because of retail hell and want to jump back in badly.
Offering: Neptune will crack jokes and make fun of the whole situation but, of course the flu thing is serious and she'll want to find a cure since it's not fun.

Participating in: Definitely considering mistletoe (either her being affected or just playing it up like she is to annoy CR), not sure if I'll do anything with the blizzard effects themselves, and probably gonna do something with the werewolf plague because lord knows Junko's been enough of a pain over the years that she deserves being trapped in a net and hit with a dart
Seeking: Kind of everything here, definitely wouldn't mind working more on existing CR, but I'd also like to get new stuff started. Mistletoe's probably best for new CR as dealing with a possibly feral despairwolf might not be the best idea? But I'm open to that too.
Offering: A more emotional Junko than normal. She's usually kind of guarded about that unless she's playing things up for people, but because of the month's events, she'll be more emotionally gross which I think most of her CR hasn't seen before. And it'll be more positive grossness as opposed to her usual despair garbage (though there'll still be a fair amount of that)
Extra: She'll probably be insufferable after this ends.

Participating in: OH BOY should this month be fun. :D Ritsuka will try to help people out who might find themselves in a tough spot thanks to the blizzard, which of course will naturally make her susceptible to the werewolf flu. I haven't decided how bad she'll get it yet, so if you have suggestions let me know! And while I have no particular plans yet I'm definitely open to mistletoe as well!
Seeking: ALL THE THINGS Ritsuka's made a fair few friends here already, but more never hurts! Alternatively, if you want to risk incurring the wrath of the Servants and her boyfriend I'm always game to discuss potential negative scenarios!
Offering: I have no specific plans in mind so I AM FLEXIBLE. Stuff that's both hilarious and/or highly dramatic are both doable. |D
Extra: Ritsuka's already plenty kindhearted can you imagine how much more affectionate she'll be under some of these effects.....

Participating in: Given that he lacks insulating fur of any kind, Chaz is going to be quite unhappy with the blizzard. Especially given how deep the drifts will be compared to him! So expect him to be extra-crabby. |Db THAT SAID I would love to do some mistletoe shenanigans with him, so if you want a cynical dinosaur friend, let me know!
Seeking: People who can put up with his attitude long enough to help him feel more at home! And just... people who can put up with his attitude in general. Chaz actually loves socializing but is still in permanent grouch mode thanks to culture shock and how horribly inconvenient everything here is for him, so people who can assist in getting him to settle in/find a good niche for himself would be great.
Offering: A cynical/pessimistic little dinosaur with a huge vocabulary and the ability to mimic enough sounds to speak a dozen different dinosaur languages. For all his attitude though he WILL try to help out where he can, he just... doesn't know what if anything he can really contribute.
Extra: Currently no plans for werewolf flu for Chaz but if you have a reeeaaaally great idea feel free to toss it at me anyway!

Character: Adrien Agreste
Participating in: Blizzard and Werewolf Flu. He'll steadily become more wolf and his transformation will fluctuate depending on his mental state.
Seeking: Christmas/Holidays can be a hard time for Adrien considering his mother loved the holidays and he loved his mom. I don't think he's actually celebrated Christmas here properly IE the traditional French way for himself so the blizzard despair will get him easy. He'll need help getting home sometimes from work during the worst of it, but once the flu sets in, it'll be difficult. He'll want affection (amplified more by Elios) - he lacks it a lot for a kid his age - but mixed with negative feelings so he'll fluctuate often into feral tendencies (not helped by some latent cat ones). New CR to help him home is appreciated; the same when trying to get him out of his funk in world form. However, any instances of too deep into wolf brain and he'll need known CR to guide him home - likely to Marinette.
Offering: Adrien's often kind and warm himself, but the holidays get him down so sad little brother/kid with family angst be here for people willing to meet him.
Extra: He can be baited by warm food lol

Character: Reaper
Participating in: Blizzard and Werewolf Flu for sure. Given that Reaper lives outside of the city of Verens and out amongst the farm lands he'll be very much able to find people who could be lost in the blizzard. That and he has a dunamis creature made of hope and other emotions that will seek out those in distress/using it to help keep him from getting lost, it can easily find others. He's also going to of course be helping out at the in-game family run baker with Kevin and co. by helping provide warm baked goods/foods for those who take shelter there.

He's also going to catch the flu due to going out in the cold(he hates the cold so much) and will get partially transformed. Big ol' cuddly shadow wolf man, I'm not even sorry.
Seeking: I would like to build his CR back up, since for the last several months he's lost nearly everyone he managed to grow close to one after the other. Be that growing what's already there with some, or creating new with others.
Offering: I can offer a place of shelter at both his farmhouse for a period of time, or for anyone who takes the option of seeking shelter at The Golden Afternoon since he's one of the main bakers etc. there. Need to be found lost out in the blizzard? Like stated above can offer that, too.
Extra: Nothing coming to mind at the moment.

Participating in: Werewolf flu for sure! At the beginning he'll just have wolf ears and a tail, maybe slowly develop paws, but by the end he will have gone full wolf.
Seeking: Anything and everything! Open to shenanigans with existing CR or something with new CR, good or bad, anything goes!
Offering: Lea is a friendly guy who is also a bit of a doofus, and as a werewolf he's definitely going to be loving some extra attention. He's also well known for "picking up strays" in canon, so if he sees any "stray puppies" he's going to herd them and offer them a furry friend to hang out with.

Character: Marinette Dupain-Cheng
Participating in: Blizzard for sure, still debating on Mistletoe. Marinette's well-known for enjoying her sleep time, so she's definitely going to be feeling that lethargy. She's also going to help out with lighting the way as well as possibly do some caroling.
Seeking: Anything and everything! Open to shenanigans with existing CR or something with new CR, good or bad, anything goes!
Offering: Smol and cheery Parisian girl with an eye for fashion and a desire to do good things for the holidays! She's the kind of person who will try to encourage others and help them where she can, either as herself or as Ladybug.

Extra: Can't think of anything at the moment but always open for plotting and ideas!!

Offering: A blunt honest guy, who can be very snarky and temperamental, but also a good guy in general. He doesn't know what the hell is a Christmas even so please teach him about it. Also he needs to find more ways to have fun anyway!

Participating in: Definitely mistletoe. He will go and find the thing he loves the most. himself And yes, some winter blues.
Seeking: Any CR. For characters who haven't met him yet. Negative CR is guaranteed but since Zamasu has finished his second punishment he has entered a state where he is starting to care less. Instead of being snappy and arrogant he acts more as if he is tired of it all and that he has not much to lose.
Offering: Guaranteed Negative CR but maybe also neutral CR? :D

Participating in: Partial wolf flu/partial hibernation. He's probably going to get ears and a tail, but spend a lot of time sleeping it off. He'll also be helping to spread the vaccine when that all goes down.
Seeking: All CR types! People who can wake him up would be good! And he'll be happy to join any team of vaccinators!
Offering: Roxas has been here long enough that he's kind of used to these things happening, and can mostly keep a clear head about things. Though the werewolfing will make him a little needy and he'll probably want to cling on to someone before he realizes what he's doing.
Extra: Please keep the boy awake, he's been asleep enough.

Seeking: New CR, especially with other fighters or anyone who can put up with his normal grumpiness. And working on previously establish CR too.
Offering: Face punching. Plans are for Vegeta's reaction to the 'longing' from the mistletoe is to seek out strong fighters to test himself against. Also food, lots of food.
Extra: Please do let me know if you want to op in/out of a few things if interested in the fighting: Vegeta should be able to sense out high ki to target people to fight, but if you would rather not have him able to pick your character up, that is all good too. Also, while everyone's strength is limited here, I have kept his resilience and speed the same as in his world, so even if your character may be able to take the punch do please let me know with that op in/out if they could see/react to his attack.

Participating in: Trey is going to be all wolfy! Okay, maybe not all of him...I'm just not sure how much--though ears are a definite thing here. And a tail he can't control.
Mistletoe is still possible because it'll mess up Mr. Logic--again. Just not sure which way to take him...
He may also join the carolers to wake people up. (Thanks to Minako suggesting singing to him once.)
Seeking: More friends! Though, depending on the direction I take him with the misteltoe, his GF may not be too happy...
Offering: Trey will always help those in need--which is probably how he'll get the flu in the first place. Only--those he helps should be prepared for long-winded explanations.

Participating in: Sheena will probably be catching some zzz's all over Verens during the blizzard. Probably while helping others to wake up. She's got a pretty strident voice, so if loud singing can wake them up, then she's your woman.
Misteltoe! Yep. Definitely. Though, don't expect any kisses from her.
Seeking: Making new frands! A couple of hers have left recently, so "winter blues" will be a real thing even before the blizzard.
Offering: Sheena is a mom. No, seriously, she is. She moms anyone and everyone--though she won't take it from anyone else. Unless forced to.
