Welcome to

empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

Date reminders. Reserves open Thursday, December 25th and Applications open Friday, January 1st.
Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

PROMPTS

• Prompt A: Things are a bit out of control right now, and that includes your emotions and the elemental cores. Just the slightest feeling will be exaggerated. You were only smiling a little? You're now a walking light bulb. Just a little pout? Strong torrential rain is now over the entire block.

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…

• Prompt D: Empatheias is currently experiencing an island-wide blizzard. Several thick inches of snow covers the landscape, and with the city's unusual architecture, falling snow from the eaves of roofs is an actual hazard to be wary about. So what can you do with it? Do you play in it? Throw snowballs? Try to help clear the roads? Or does your mood actually worsen it by creating your own mini blizzard or make a large patch of melt or even turn to rain and pools of water?

• Prompt E: The city is worse for wear and needs help getting fixed up. This can be done one of two ways: physical labor or using positive emotions to help speed the process a long. Which do you try?

• Prompt F: Empatheias doesn't celebrate Christmas, but quite a few of the PCs have decided to celebrate it amongst themselves. Will you help spread the season of joy and free will? Or try to ruin it? Don't forget your emotions will reflect your mood.

• Prompt G: Make your own! It can even involve pigs or a bucket of paint.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. [ And yet, before this very moment he had managed to miss spotting anyone he would even so much as recognize. So to this thought, he presumed that it was unlikely he would cross paths with someone he knows so soon (or at all). Maybe the pain had obscured him from properly noticing -- but like hell he's not going to notice now. Still, he's moving the object off of his foot first. ]

...Foolbright, of course you'd be the one to walk into me like this! Nevermind that for now, where have you been? I haven't been able to see you in this strange land until now.

[Several exclamations of relief are already making their way to the tip of his tongue. Exclamations like "It's really you" or "I knew firebreathing wolves and fairies wouldn't get the best of you" (because some responses to his announcement last week were less helpful than others). Still, all those things die in his throat, because Simon talks first and boy are his words out of place.]

What... What are you talking about? I should be asking you where you've been! You were missing for a week! Everyone was worried sick!

[ And this is where his own confusion starts to come forth, like what. He's pretty sure the other wouldn't make something up like that, but still...he doesn't recall being missing. Something else is afoot here or maybe Fulbright is just making a huge mess out of nothing. ]

Everyone? So you're not the only one I know who's here...presumably.

Regardless, are you sure it wasn't just you worrying about nothing? How could I go missing from this place when I have just gotten here?

[In the legal world, this whole thing could be called a contradiction of facts. Considering what's already happened so far, Simon's words make very little sense. Amnesia, maybe? Just where was the prosecutor this past week?]

Just gotten here? We've been here for three months already, remember? You, me and Miss Cykes, anyway. Mr. Justice and Mr. Wright got here a little later.

[ That response is just when he's finding himself flat out staring like the detective suddenly grew two heads. What the hell was going on? Was this some elaborate joke of some kind? ]

That sounds like a bunch of balderdash. I think I'd remember if I were stuck in a place like this for three months.

Unless you're flat out joking to see how I'd react to hearing nonsense.

But it's not nonsense! You can ask anyone, they'll all tell you the same thing! You really don't remember? Did you hit your head somehow? Here, let me see.

[Simon had better move fast if he wants to avoid an utterly unprofessional check for bumps, because Bobby's reaching both hands out to try just that. Who even knows what sort of injuries that huge mane of hair could be hiding?]

Do you realize how inane all of that is--!

[ He starts, and its out of reflex that his hands go to intercept Bobby's own in a grab. He predictably looks annoyed at what he perceives to be shenanigans of some kind, whether intentional or no. ]

Take an inch and even in your case you would take a mile. Not to mention this is utterly ridiculous. All of it!

[Whoah! Okay, he's backing up. He's giving Simon his space... Nobody wants to see this guy lose his temper, not even Bobby.]

It is ridiculous, but that doesn't mean it's not true... I mean, why would I lie about something like that?

[ He tries to calm down a little, because its also made more weeds and plants twist around him. It's true-- the detective wouldn't lie about something like this to him. ]

Hm. Then, someone here has the ability to take away memories. I certainly didn't hit my head anywhere and its the only explanation that makes sense at the moment. Even if it sounds completely outlandish, there's this ...strange environment that shouldn't even be possible.

[Someone with the ability to take away memories... Honestly, he wouldn't be surprised. There's people around who can control the dead and there's people who can shoot fire out of their hands. And talking ponies who have their own society with its own holidays. ...This place has all sorts of interesting people.]

I... I guess that's possible. Either way, I'm just glad you're back! [Or... still here...?] Nobody knew what happened to you, so everyone was really worried. Especially Miss Cykes.
