Monthly Mod Announcement: August

— MONTHLY MOD ANNOUNCEMENT: AUGUST —

Hi everybody! We hope you all enjoyed Helisium! August will start off a relatively quiet month, events-wise, to give people more time to continue their Helisium threads or wrap them up. There will be a small event around mid-month that will be of particular interest to characters who want to contribute to Verens' development as a city. There is also a major player plot running this month! OOC details and plotting for this can be found here, and further details regarding this plot will be posted by the players responsible for it as they become relevant.

That said, on to the announcement! Please take a few minutes to read this post thoroughly.

Here are the basic dates to keep up with:

• 8/01: Canon and Original Character Applications open; Plot and CR with Me Meme posted; Task Board updated.
  
• 8/05: Applications close; Reservations close.
  
• 8/05-06: Application processing.
  
• 8/06: Intro Log and Player Intros posted.
  
• 8/15: Mini-Event.
  
• 8/18: Test Drive.
  
• 8/20: Player Plot.

This month, we will also be introducing an IC calendar for everyone to keep track of! The dates here will give everyone an idea of what's happening in either of the four cities. In a way, this will give people more things to do.

• 8/3: Theasthai: National Sheep Day - People of Theasthai will be wearing wool all day to showcase their love for sheep. Sheep will also be allowed to roam around the city without any guidance. Nobody will also complain if the sheep bite them or attack them.
  
• 8/14: Verens: Burger Day - Give a burger to a male friend you care about! The people of Verens picked this up from the Earthly holiday: Valentine's Day. Somehow, a burger can also be romantic. Next month, 9/14, is Milkshake Day where people give milkshakes to their female friends!
  
• 8/22: Briarlan: Fyxit Wells' Van Race - People from all over the world will gather to race secondhand and almost dying pieces of junk! Come spectate, steal a van, participate in the race! Either way, you'll win something just by being there. (It's a keychain. You'll win a keychain.)

» JOBS & TASK BOARD

The Task Board has been updated so characters can start taking on odd jobs if they are so inclined. Details as to how the Task Board works and sign-up (if applicable) can be found on the said post, as well.

In addition, there is a Job List sheet that lists out more permanent jobs available for characters. The link to the job list can be found here. These are different from the Task Board jobs as they can be used as part-time or full-time jobs and do not have any specific time period. If you want your character to have a job, that's it. This is also where we will list character run businesses. So if you have one or are thinking about one, there will be a place where it can be referenced and looked at. You can even make tasks relating to your business.

The location of each task is determined by the colors they're labeled with. So, White = Verens; Yellow = Shaarnath; Pink = Theasthai; Blue/Grey = Briarlan; Purple = Excursions; Red = Plot.

Note: We always welcome and encourage players to submit various tasks for the Task Board! However, in the interest of fairness and making sure that player-submitted tasks can be integrated into the Board in a timely manner, we ask that if you would like your task to be included that it be submitted no later than five days prior to the start of the coming month. Otherwise, it will be included the following month. Thank you!


» EMOTION TRACKER UPDATE

The Emotion Tracker has been updated with a new set of sheets for July through December. If you forgot any threads from last month, you can still submit to the tracker and just have it count toward this month. This includes any events that occurred.

Anyone who is interested in the fancy breakdown of points can find it here—but don't worry too much about it if numbers aren't your thing.

We ended our month on the positive side of balanced, and looking at the individual Arehtei, certain positive emotions were definitely running high this month. Love, trust and appreciation were all notably high this time around, but there were notable spikes in fear and especially despair, as well— perhaps not surprising, given how thick Brinndosi itself was with despair during the excursion at the end of June. Overall, things are very even-keeled, meaning no noticeable effects caused by imbalance for the time being!


» MYSTERY GIFTS FOR JULY

Players who submitted to the Emotion Tracker last month are invited to choose an IC Mystery Gift from the list below for each contributing character! Below is a top-level where you can let the mods know what item you've chosen. These Mystery Gifts will appear at the foot of the character's bed once they wake on the day of your choice. If the character doesn't sleep, it will be at their doorstep.

Here are the Mystery Gifts for July:

• An etch-a-sketch temporary drawing tablet that colors in based on emotional input.
  
• Stylish boots with wings on them - will give its wearer 4x their jumping power!
  
• A potted plant that grows tea bags - just add water for it to grow!
  
• A chocolate cake - with icing that days "Happy birthday, Bertha!" (Who's Bertha?)
  
• A claw grabber featuring the head of your aligned Arehtei, or in Piphron’s case, his claw— also known as “Crabby Grabbies.”
  
• Unicorn slippers - like bunny slippers, but better, because who doesn’t love unicorns?
  

» STATE OF THE AREHTEI

Appointments can still be made with individual Arehtei here, complete with updated player list. Here’s a glimpse of where each of the Arehtei are at right now:

• Aiada - Aiada has been pretty quiet for the past month. The positive emotion from Helisium has rejuvenated her, and she's back to snooping around the city curiously. You might spot some of her sprites flying about during this month, and they'll wave if you call her name out.
  
• Daimonia - As expected after Helisium, Daimonia is in a fabulous mood, cheerful and energetic. She hasn't had a great many visits from the Otherworlders in a while now, so don't be surprised to find her sticking her miniaturized nose into things during upcoming weeks. She's liable to be checking up on her siblings, too. All of them. Accept her love.
  
• Elios - Elios explored Diateris and wasn't available for contact last month! Now, he seems to be back in the restored areas of Diateris. He's also asked some natives from Verens to help out in restoring more areas. The land can't be developed again, but it's still worth cleaning things up.
  
• Peromei - Only leaning a little bit negative, Peromei is getting back on her hooves this month but taking it easy. She'll mostly keep to her usual spot inside the Memory Tree, but may peek her head out now and again to take a look at any goings-on that may need her attention.
  
• Piphron - Continuing to be buoyed by the influx of positive emotion, Piphron might actually have bothered to visit the Helisium festivities. ...Incognito, of course. He might linger in the town for some time, though he will return to his cave by the end of the month, having tired of excessive social interaction.
  
• Sosyne - Sosyne's a little grumpy after Helisium, but hey, you'd be grumpy too if people decided to do all sorts of fun beach activities around you. She's still in the lake, she's not moving just because of that. But what she is doing is stirring the waters up a little more than normal, so that people, hopefully, keep their distance. Telepathy might be the best way to contact her this month, especially if any of those seagulls from Helisium are still around.
  
• Thras - Thras remains calm and collected, and has been in particularly high spirits as of late thanks to a number of visits from Otherworlders willing to brave the long trek up the temple stairs. Things have been quiet in Shaarnath following the wave of vandalism, but he remains quietly concerned about both those events and how suddenly they seemed to cease.
