A Welcome Newbies + HOORAY WE'RE NOT DEAD kind of party thing at the Hearth

Hey, guys! More importantly, HEY ALL NEWBIES! I'm Laena, the head mod, and normally I'd greet you all individually but I welcome you all with a special welcome party instead.

This gig will be held at the player run restaurant, "From the Hearth." It's co-owned by Alvin (opportunitycosts) and Fractured Milla (descendend). As part of (another) reopening mingle log, we're comboing it to also celebrate the following: WELCOME THE NEW FOLKS!, GOOD JOB OBELISK TEAMS!, and Alvin's birthday. Less important, hence why no bold.

Since there are two parties going on, this one is deliberately designed to be a bit more low key and more focused on celebrating the fact that the island didn't fall out of the sky and to help the new islanders meet some new people! It's set to happen on Friday, June 10 and flyers will be posted around the city for advertising. EVERYONE IS WELCOME.

Because this is kind of an all encompassing celebration and meet and greet type of log, we just wanted to go ahead and kind of give an idea of a few special things that will happen:

• Name Tags+Stickers. Everyone will be given a special name tag to use. They all have special symbols and are randomly given out upon entering. The symbols are ♠, ♣, ♥, ♦. OOCly, everyone will just RNG which symbol they get. And be sure to RNG it! There is a reason! Oh and each name card comes with a set of stickers with the matching symbol. Why? Well—
  
  
• Symbol Matching. At first, everyone with the same symbol will sit in the same areas, so they can meet and talk to each other in their little group. But then later on, there will be "rounds" where different symbols are mixed together. It's kind of like speed dating, only it's more like speed...friending. There will be fun "get to know each other" ice breaker games/questionnaires that we'll provide and people can use to get conversations going! And with each person met, characters are to put their sticker on the name tag. The more people met, the more stickers acquired!
  
  
• Cooking Competition. Really it's just for fun. There will be a designated subthread for those who'd like to show off their cooking skills! Those participating will make their own thread under that header and everyone will be able to taste test and judge them on a scale of 1-5. (This is also an excellent way for the Hearth to learn new recipes for their menu!)
  
  
• You Got Served. There will be a designated subthread for a little mini game where guests can either be Diners or Servers. The servers will be hailed by different tables where the diners are to choose up to 5 random menu items to order. The servers have to remember all of them THROUGH MEMORY ONLY. No order pad! After that, they are to deliver all the orders correctly. No worries, the actual food is fake so if there are spills it's not a problem. Actual threading instructions will be given on the log, but the idea will be Servers will make their own starter in the subthread. Diners tag the Servers with their random menu items. Servers either get it right or wrong. The more diners that tag them, the crazier it can be. People are free to just mingle chat as well.

Since this is also a celebration of HOORAY WE'RE NOT DEAD, there will be large obelisk cake and green crystal cupcakes for the theme.

And that's it! It's most mingling with just a couple of other fun activities on the side. But hopefully this will be help some folks both new and old get some new CR!

Then you can use the new CR to drag new friends to the super cool party hosted by Kunikida later on the 18th! Think of ours as the more chill "welcome get together with free food" and then Kunikida's as the super awesome super cool summer block party that everyone should totally go to.
