Mod Announcement: October
We're starting to hit the holiday season, but we have a lot of exciting planned. And exciting stuff for this month!
» CALENDAR
The main calendar spreadsheet is here as reference.
But here are the basic dates to keep up with:
- 10/01: Canon and Original Character Applications open.
- 10/04: Applications close; Reservations close; Intro log posted.
- 10/05-06: All applications should be processed by the end of this period
- 10/07~10/10: ??? Part I
- 10/14~10/19: ??? Part II
- 10/18: Test Drive.
- 10/25: Activity Check starts; Reservations open.
- 10/31: Activity Check ends.
- 11/01: Applications open.
The autumnal season of Boreas is officially hitting the island. However, due to how the Emotion Tracker finished, things are not as pleasant as they could be. Details are after the Emotion Tracker results.
» ACTIVITY CHECK RESULTS

» JOBS & TASK BOARD
The Task Board has been updated so characters can start taking on odd jobs if they are so inclined. Details as to how the Task Board works and sign-up can be found here. In addition, there is a Job List sheet that list out more permanent jobs available for characters. These are different from the Task Board jobs as they can be used as part-time or full-time jobs and do not have any specific time period. If you want your character to have a job, that's it. This is also where we will list character run businesses. So if you have one or are thinking about one, there will be a place where it can be referenced and looked at. You can even make tasks relating to your business.
A reminder that the Drask Association tasks are all centered in Shaarnath.
UPDATES! As you may already see, we have slightly restructured the Task board and included the Excursion Missions on there. We have also reduced the amount of tasks given as we now have more categories. We will now provide (at minimum) 8 General and 8 Special Tasks, 5 Drask, and then then the Excursion Missions will vary depending on the excursion. Of course we'll put in more if possible, but so as not to overwhelm us, that is our new structure.
As always, we highly encourage anyone to fill out task ideas. (Or if someone is actually crazy and willing to help be our task board generator, we will gladly hire you.)
» EMOTION TRACKER UPDATE
The Emotion Tracker has been updated with brand spanking new sheets. Anyone who posts after this announcement will be added to the current sheets (so any late tallies from the previous month can still be counted).
As hinted earlier in this post, the ET is going to look interesting. And this is how:
WE HIT NEGATIVE HUZZAH. However, because it's only against like a long string of positives, an Emotion Shift will not occur. That doesn't mean nothing is happening. The details are in a section after this, but we'd like to point out that in terms of strict "negative" and "positive," the points were almost even. What tanked it were the apathy points.
That's right, all those apathy points have finally made their mark.
So while it's not the biggest thing happening, there are a lot of noticeable effects happening. Of course, while the effects listed below is like a projection for the whole month, things can either get better or worse at mid-month. We'll see!

» OMINOUS BEGINNINGS
It first starts with the symbols on the giant floating crystal flickering a dark gray, followed by the crystal itself seeming to blink and dull in color. It's a small change, but a change nonetheless—a sign that the crystal may still be working in some way.
Then, as if to greet the new season, sharp, brisk winds cut through the air with a lot of overcast skies. Although there are no thunderstorms, drizzling rain will often pass through, sometimes lasting throughout the night. The leaves change and fall quicker than usual and plants are already starting to show their winter withering. The lake will have cold, choppy waters, making fishing and any usual lakeside pleasantries difficult and uncomfortable.
Everything seems to have a bit less color to it, with shadows running longer and darker, sometimes making it seem as if whatever they fall on has disappeared into it. Even sound seem a bit muted. Some may find that they need to speak up a bit to be heard. Telepathic communication is also quieter with the connection cutting out at times.
Various machines and appliances will also malfunction, especially when it's raining. Lights and lanterns will flicker on and off, sometimes cutting out completely in the late hours of the night.
The harvest is going to have some difficulties due to this change of weather, but there's more—food is more easily to spoil when around those of sour attitude. If that doesn't happen, then meals may lose their flavoring to those who do not pay particular care to it.
Finally, some may feel a little more prone to unease, fear, and uncertainty. Not overwhelmingly so, but a small sense of dread or doubt when none usually occurs. Sometimes they may feel as if being watched, but there isn't anything there.
» ??? PARTS I & II EXPLAINED (SORT OF)
Despite the ominous effects from the crystal, this month is not planned to be a bad month. If you guys continue to tank the tracker then we might have to do some tweaking, but meanwhile we do have an event planned for the month, and it's a nice one with a big surprise. However, because it's a surprise we can't go into the details just yet. But we can give a bit of a heads up and a kind of idea of what to expect.
Part I is going to be more like a fun, lighthearted little "pre" to the main event. As listed on the calendar, Part I when will be from October 7th through the 10th for a weekend affair. Part II will be the true main event and will run from October 14th through 19th. Both are opt-in and, more importantly, they are nothing that will directly affect the island.
These events are also replacing the usual Boreas Seasonal Dance—although we think no one will mind since they're good replacements and, as a hint, kind of have the same atmosphere.
We'll give full details for both parts when Part I starts.
» ADVENTURES & EXCURSIONS
As we mentioned in our last announcement, we are streamlining how expeditions out on the surface are being handled. In doing so, we have created a new entry in the mod journal that not only explains how these are handled, but also where everyone can sign-up. Thus check out the new Adventures & Excursions page. With the page, we also created an Adventures & Excursion Charting Log spreadsheet to help chart out all places that everyone goes to and what they discover.
For those who have already done or in the process of going through the adventure, please comment to the specified Adventure Requests thread just so we have an official record. If you already have the log up, go ahead and link it so we can add it to the chart.
Now with the maintenance stuff out of the way, let's give a quick explanation of some terminology and what to expect.
- Expeditions are going to be the catch all term for all trips out on the surface.
- Adventures are what we're calling player initiated expeditions. These are designed to cater what the players would like to do and aside from our general guidelines, players have more free rein on what they do and setting environment.
- Excursions are our mod run focused expeditions. These are the ones we designate every month and give general details in these announcements. They are also sometimes accompanied with special mission tasks to complete. While players can still influence things, these have goals that we'd like to see accomplish and conform to more what we expect.
All pertinent information is on the Adventures & Excursions page, and we have updated the Game Information page to reflect these new changes. We look forward to what people come up with as well as what everyone's find!
We are also going to be most curious in where these expeditions will take the game.
» EXCURSION FOCUS
We do have a focus for this month. However, that focus is going to be tied in with the ??? event. So unfortunately for right now we can't say much. Just hang tight, it will be unveiled in a week!
