Although technically scheduled for next month, we're going to swap this month's HMD with May's CR Meme so we can double it as a plotting post for the Festival. For the details, refer to this post.

OH MAN YES that's Nyanko-sensei/Madara, who's a spirit that Natsume accidentally sets free. Natsume inherits this book of spirit's names from his grandmother (who could also see spirits) and decides to return them all, because he's a kind wonderful cinnamon roll who doesn't want to have power over these helpless youkai.

Nyanko-sensei decides to be Natsume's guardian until he dies, then he'll take the book of names for himself. And their dynamic is adorable and precious because they both pretend not to care about each other but they doooooo. There are some other arcs, where Natsume meets a group of exorcists and some of his classmates who are sensitive to spirits and they have adventures and bond and care about each other.

Really at it's heart it's about Natsume who's been shuffled around from house to house all his life (his parents died when he was little, and none of his relatives wanted him because he was "creepy", and some of them were outright abusive) learning that he's not worthless or useless and that he's allowed to be loved and cared about and that he can belong in both the human and spirit world.

I knew that sounded familiar! If it's on hulu or netflix then I can add it to my queue this weekend. Good feels stabbing my heart is a nice change of pace to my puella binge.
