TEST DRIVE: MARCH

— TEST DRIVE: MARCH —

Welcome to [community profile] empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

  • Date reminders. Reserves open Tuesday, February 23nd and Applications (Canon | OC) open Tuesday, March 1st.

  • OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are currently allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.

  • Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.

  • Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.

  • Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.

  • First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

PROMPTS

• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• Prompt D: Fireworks are a common source of entertainment for the island, and each year the equipment and technology used get more advaanced—and more dangerous. This year they're trying to contain the explosive emotional power from the easily angered by using a new device based off the Tree of Memories petals. Except the "device" includes the explosive powder for the fireworks. You can only imagine how disasterous that could be. YOUR OPTIONS:

  1. Someone is deliberately provoking you to try and make you mad.
  2. Someone else has blown their top and the device (and nearby fireworks) are exploding.
  3. General firework and explosives mayhem.

Note: Calm emotions will help diffuse the situation, but you might want some water or something else to help douse both the literal and metaphorical flames.

• Prompt E: The spring season of Zephyras is on its way, so there's a lot less snow these days. To make the most of it, a lot of the local children have built as many snowmen and snow creatures as they can. Some adults have also taken to it, some actually treating it like some kind of competition. The resulting creations range from the standard to the incredible. Behemoth, monstrous creatures with gaping jaws and horns, majestic unicorns with ice sculpted wings and horns, lifelike human sculptures in various poses. Normally all of these would be considered works of it, but when you're in a world where emotions can sometimes give things a mind of their own...well. Creativity isn't the only way to "breathe life" into them.

  1. Emotions can affect these snow sculptures in various way. Those that trend on the happier side will cause the snow creations to move and frolic around in place, perhaps even try to "play" with those around them. Those that trend on the negative, however, will give the opposite, especially anything that could make them more angry and violent.

  2. A few people have caught onto this and have actually created a snowmen army! Using "stock" made snowmen, at least ten from each side slide and wobble around, chucking snowballs and rocks at one another for pure snow destruction. Hopefully you don't get caught in the middle of it.

• Prompt F: Have you ever ridden on a hover board? Or a flying motorcycle? Well if you haven't, you get to be one of many to try out a new design set to come out by the summer months of Eurus. Of course, they are still in development, so expect some hiccups and stalls. Even more, to help with fuel and power efficiency issues, the engineers have created a system that would help absorb and channel the user's emotions into the machine. Now, it's supposed to only take the energy from emotions and not actually be affected by what kind is given. In theory, even a sad person could power their new flying vehicle! However, that's a kink that still needs to be hammered out, so the test vehicles are still prone to emotional effects just like everything else. Angry emotions will have fire bursting from the exhaust, giving it a super huge boost in speed and power, but lack of control. Joy and excitement are also good boosters, but prepare to have a trail of stardust that could blow back in your face. Some other side effects are: rust, engine stall, decreased acceleration, suddenly flying upside down. Oh yeah, these don't have seat belts. But you get a helmet and a parachute! Good luck.

• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include empty barrel and/or chickens.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

Fan as Lucy might, most of the smoke puts up a fight but at least Michelle can see that she actually has not burned down the kitchen even through her watery eyes. It's also appear she manages to find the solution rather quickly as once a moment passes of the frillier of the pair being coddled, she manages to calm-

The circumstances are certainly different but just as she had wanted, she's being petted on the head. It's almost sort of exactly perfect! But she's too ashamed to really enjoy it- She doesn't deserve it! Not that she's going to draw away, as that would just be silly. It's so warm..

The smoke releases its grasp, spirals around the pair, then shows itself out the window. Granted it doesn't look nearly as magical as if it were sparkles but oh well. Eventually she murmurs, "I- I guess I overreacted a little.. I'm sorry."
celestial_wizard: (Whoops! My bad eheheh.)

It's been ages since she'd seen Michelle. But she'd never forgotten her - or her habits. Maybe she shouldn't coddle the younger girl quite so much, but she was weak to those tears. "It's okay," Lucy grinned, "It was a little scary, seeing all that smoke in the room, wasn't it? But -" ooh, it was kind of neat the way the smoke just wooshed out of the room - maybe not awesome like sparkles, no, but it was neat on its own. Once it was clear in the room, she gently tried to pry herself free, "So, what were you making?"
pseudobelle: (its wonderful!)

"Well.. Yes, it was." Michelle sheepishly agrees, though of course she was far more frightened about what Lucy was going to do more than burning alive. She'll not mention that, though. No, it's just so nice to be like this; so she'll just stay here forever and ever. And ever.

Michelle was just short of returning the embrace but Lucy's question stops her, "Eh?" then she stands up straight with a shocked expression, though note the considerable amount of grossness hanging from her nostril. "AH! I forgot I was doing a job. My very first job!"

And so she explains to Lucy about the cake request, the smudged recipe, and why she decided it was a good idea to make more than one type.

Lucy really should work on her habit of enabling people - or coddling them. But Michelle was ...kind of family! She couldn't help herself! Releasing her sister when the other girl straightened so suddenly.

"A job?" Ooo, making a cake! But... hrm. "Well that was a pretty good idea to try to make different types, but..." She eyed the oven with its burned cake contents. "I think you're going to have to remake that one..! I can help, if you want?"
pseudobelle: (what could that be?)

It's all right, Lucy's just a little out of practice! In due time she'll get things perfect... Perfectly in younger's favor, that is, mu ha ha ha ha!

Michelle looks to the oven as well; at some point the oven door opened so the charred and smoking, gruesome remains of the victims are out on display. "Yes, I'm.. Not really sure what happened, I've made cakes plenty of times back home." she says with a hand raised to her cheek.

But then, the sudden realization that Lucy is offering to help her sets in. She really wanted the whole thing to be a surprise but this.. This would be the first time they would bake together and she hadn't considered that beforehand.

That's so exciting! Far too exciting for her little heart to handle, which she feels pounding in her chest so hard it might very well burst free! Her eyes go so very wide as she raises her hands into fists near her shoulders as she cries out with a flustered yet clearly excited.

"Y- Y- YABBLUDAH!!!"

That. Might have been a 'yes'?

celestial_wizard: Not mine (You think we're... what!?)

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2016-03-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Michelle. . you're never going to change. Lucy was fine with that though! She'd just have to try to figure out how to balance attention between Michelle and Natsu or one would get jealous of the other and... she really didn't want that. "Well the equipment here is a bit difference from the ones we use back home."

And ...then that -noise- comes out of the other girl that makes Lucy just -stare- at her for a moment. "Er.... a..ahaha, bless you!" Allergies?
pseudobelle: (whats this? whats this!)

*dying* That icon!

[personal profile] pseudobelle 2016-03-01 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Her moment of bliss is quickly interrupted by what she perceives as a non sequitur. She stares right back for a moment before she replies with an awkward smile. ".. Thank you?"

Well then.

"Ah, anyhow, I did notice that this stove is different but I had no idea that it would bake so quickly. Are you certain you could teach me? I wouldn't want to take you away from your brainstorming..." Hmn. Did Lucy ever tell Michelle she was doing that? Well she most certainly didn't peek through something, why would you even ask.
celestial_wizard: (Modest Blushing)

LOL Natsu-mun found it (and some others) for me <3

[personal profile] celestial_wizard 2016-03-01 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
... okay then! Lucy smiled, nodding confidently at Michelle as she padded over to the stove. "It has a bit of a learning curve, but yes, I can teach you~!" She started to point out the little gadgets on the steampunky stove - pausing at the latter comment. "Huh? Ahaha, how did you know? Was it that obvious I was up there so long?" Natsu had probably fallen asleep watching her. Weirdo that he was.
pseudobelle: (so cute!)

[personal profile] pseudobelle 2016-03-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
This time since the stove isn't on, the stove doesn't react to her gradually increasing excitement, and of course appears attentive to the end at which she praises, "Wow, you're so well-informed~."

".. Um." Suddenly Michelle had the look of a deer in headlights. Now, it isn't that she thinks it's wrong to peek in on Lucy now and then, but even she knows that the method she used is pretty embarrassing. Her laugh is similar to Lucy's then, albeit weaker. "S- stop, big-sister, you're embarrassing me~. Let's divide the duties, ok?"

Good stove, you behave yourself. "Well, .. Natsu and I have been here for..." She paused. "...two months now. That... seemed so strange all this time passing. A lot has happened."

Ah, is Michelle dodging the question? How odd! But she won't press, since it wasn't important. She flashed a smile at the other girl, "Haha, okay okay~!" She pushed her sleeves up - metaphorically. "That sounds fair. Do you want to mix the ingredients first? Although since you have so many cakes to make, it might be more efficient to make two cakes at the same time. We can prepare the cakes at least, and call Natsu to cook them evenly if you want."

Don't be jelly of the fire dragonslayer, sis.
