— TEST DRIVE: FEBRUARY—

Welcome to empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

• Date reminders. Reserves open Wednesday, January 25 and Applications (Canon | OC) open Wednesday, January 1st.
• OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.
• Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
• Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
• Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
• First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!


PROMPTS

• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• Prompt D: Over two years ago, the ill fated Red String of Fate toy made its debut. At the time it seemed like a solid idea, but as it turned out… it didn’t exactly work as advertised. People found themselves tied together with entirely incompatible people instead of the proclaimed “emotionally compatible” and to top it off, personal, influential and private telepathic communication came out drenched in sap and overly lovey-dovey overtones. It was, without a doubt, one of the company’s least successful product launches ever. And you would think that they would have learned. However, they decided to try again, and… well. It wasn’t exactly all that well thought out the second time around. But third time’s the charm, right? Wrong. Even if this time, it’s in the form of rings that will draw two people together in a “matched pair” rather than a string.

1. There’s not really anything wrong with believing in true love, but trying to formulate a product that can detect someone’s ideal mate is innately flawed. Which only means that no matter how many times the product is adjusted, it’s just not going to work. Those who wind up with the product shoved onto their fingers (by a sales rep or through actually purchasing the product) will find themselves, once again, pulled by an unseen force to the nearest person they are “compatible with”. Same height, same hair color, whatever. It’s not exactly discriminatory. …Unfortunately as poor a match as they may be, the two cannot be separated until they share a meaningful embrace. So settle in, you might be together for a while.


2. In certain pairs, normal conversation is often unintentionally made amorous, simply from inflection in voice, or perhaps a heightened affectionate emotion. Or, on the flip side, anger and aggression is increased ten fold, but it’s kind of 50-50 as to what effect will take place, all dependant on which hand they wear the ring. Left, romance, Right? Anger.

• Prompt E: The inexplicably cavernous sewers of Verens are no place for a sane individual, but here you are anyway—dropped there by some horrible emotional shift that made an entire section of street vanish and then reappear above your heads as if nothing had happened. You and the poor fool you’ve been dumped down here with need to find your way to the access tunnels and climb out, or perhaps go the other way and swim out through the Lake Niras outflow. Or just smash your way out, if you’re feeling destructive. But your own emotions will work against you, as you struggle against the terrible scent, the darkness, and the entirely-justified questioning of why your life has taken this horrible turn.

1. There’s something odd about the way the water and sewage is sloshing around your ankles, almost as if it’s rising. But wait, that can’t possibly be a pair of eyes you see under the oil slick surface… could it? You’ve heard rumors about all sorts of beasties down here but surely your mind is just playing tricks on you.


2. Remember that part about emotions turning against you? Maybe you’ve been trapped down here way too long with someone who’s just not living up to your expectations, or you’ve got something else on your minds—but the smell around you certainly seems to be growing thicker, the scent growing harder and harder to ignore. The water and grossness at your feet also seems to be growing thicker almost as though it’s curing like cement. The cause? Negative emotions. But are they yours or the person you’re stuck here with? Perhaps you should work through those post haste…


3. Escape! You’ve made it out, but not without a great amount of effort on both you and your partner’s parts. Did you manage to find a way out through the access tunnels? Or perhaps you really did travel through all that much to the Lake Niras outflow… whatever it is, You’re certainly stinky, and possibly tired and cranky too.

• Prompt F: Some bandits went and stole another airship, only this time the Enforcers are prepared with a few of their own. Join in for some intense air battles. Just don't make the ship explode—they'd like it back in one piece please. Unless you're actually on the bandit team, in which case you probably want to blow up the Enforcer ship.

1. What's an airship fight without some on deck action? Either the bandits are swinging over to the ship you're on, or maybe you're swinging over there. Whatever the case, it's a full on brawl. Just watch out—those bandits are well-armed with some interesting firearms and weapons. If hit, one of the following emotions will start to take over your senses: unquestionable rage, debilitating fear and panic, and sleepiness. Needless to say, these effects will hinder one's ability to fight.


2. Can you fly or are you okay with climbing up the full height of your airship? Then grab a few sleep and apathy grenades and throw them at the bandits. Just be careful not to accidentally hit your allies. Otherwise they will be the ones feeling sleepy and want to give up. Also watch out for flying nets and bullets. Those bandits will definitely try to bring you down.


3. While the enforcers are trying to maintain the integrity of the stolen ship, the bandits feel no such need to hold back and are freely unloading their weapons onto the Enforcer's ships, forcing them to defend themselves. Other than decapacitating the bandit behind the weapon, it's also possible to overload it with intense emotions. Explode it with rage or clog it with happy, loving flowers.

• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include bubblegum and/or toadstools.

[ It's not the first time today that Cor is wondering just what he's managed to get himself into, or how he even managed it to begin with. In fact, reading the Task Board the marshal is having an absolute voyage of emotions, though mostly it's exasperation and amazement that the island hasn't managed to blow itself up yet. Cor doesn't consider himself to be an employment snob. Even back in Eos he'd taken on hunts that were required, it didn't matter that he had been Crownsguard for the King, work that benefited the world and the people within it would always be considered helpful. But then Cor never really expected to be reading such requests as carpentry project, spider collecting and the ever elusive panty thief.]

Maybe I'm misunderstanding this. [ Cor speaks to himself, loud enough for anyone nearby to hear as he folds his arms and frowns slightly. Maybe there's a trick he's missing, or perhaps it simply is just what it says on the tin.] Pineapple gel may just be pushing it....

[Prompt D (1 or 2)]

You're going to love this!

[ Before Cor can even move or retaliate at the sudden sound of sales in his ear, he finds himself completely at the mercy of one very enthusiastic staff member. What had seemed to be a polite enough store assistant had suddenly turned into whirlwind of excitement, obviously taking Cor's quiet, stoic nature as someone who needed this ring immediately. Obviously Cor would change his mind once the ring was on his finger, right?? Either way before the ex-Crownsguard member can even say Regalia the offending piece of jewelry has been shoved onto the middle finger of his left hand and Cor just stares at the assistant with an almost baleful blue gaze. Really? Was this really happening? All the events in his life shaping who he is just to be berated into a sale by some random shop assistant?

It doesn't really explain why Cor finds himself headed out the shop door, feet on a mission to find something or someone. It's hard to decipher when his body doesn't seem to want to communicate with his brain all too much right now and it's only when he literally bumps into someone that Cor manages to gain some kind of control again and he puts his hands up apologetically.] My apologies, I wasn't watching where I was going.

[ Cor Leonis, known to some as "the Immortal" due to the amount of suicide missions he went on and came back from, the one who curbstomped his enemies through being one of the best fighters in Eos, skilled with his blade kotetsu, has officially had it up to his neck with sewers. One time he'd gone through Crestholm Channels for a challenge at the age of eighteen and that had been more than enough sewers for one lifetime. Apparently fate had decided otherwise in this new world, opting to put him in sewers once again for no reason other than because.

By the time the marshal and company had even found the exit through the Lake Niras outflow, Cor knows they must look a sight, himself most of all. Just about every inch of his black uniform is covered in dirt, muck and other assorted maladies that Cor simply doesn't want to identify. There's even smears of dirt down one side of his face and his lips thin as he resists the urge to completely lose his temper. He has no issue with adventures or fighting the good fight. But when it's pointless with no rhyme or reason it's enough irk him some, rattling the normally cool composure he carries.

Cor takes a deep breath, instantly regretting it as the smells assault his senses enough to knock his bad mood out and away. He's seen people chewed up and spat out by marlboros and they smelled nicer than this!]

I think it's wise we just don't talk about this.

[ Glancing back into the maw of the disgusting hell they've just trekked through, Noctis can only cringe and try very hard not to breathe in their putrid fragrance. Trading that for a morbol would be a no hesitation deal. ]

Agreed.

[ Cor is going to get exactly no argument from Noctis on that front. Normally one talks about having Seen Things that can't be unseen, but that? That's Smelling Things that will surely haunt their nightmares for years to come.

So clearly they should put it behind them and instead gaze out upon the lake before them! ]

Normally I'd say it's too cold to go swimming, but...

Oof. This is so gross.

[Precis is no stranger to ending up in weird places or getting her hands dirty, but a sewer? Really? Being covered and oil in grease is one thing, and wading through wastewater is a different thing altogether. Does her companion know what's in this water? Hopefully she doesn't have to spell it out for them, but Precis can at least be happy she's wearing boots. See? There are two flowers blooming because she's happy she's perpetually wearing protective gear.

She turns to her companion without wasting another second.]

Sooo, we're gonna play a fun game, okay? It's called 'keep my robot dry at all costs.'

[She shifts the small robot in her arms. It waves its arms a little. This isn't going to be a fun game for anyone.]

[ C: Serious Poll (Voice) ]

So, what's cooler? Magic...[her voice sounds intentionally unimpressed] or the science that can do anything, technology? Which one's cooler?

[Her voice perks right back up at the mention of technology. It's less of a poll and more of an obvious search for like-minded people, but it's still a good question to ask.]

[Or it might end up attracting something else. Someone who tries to make his mental voice sound as demonic as possible, complete with an echo.]

Fuhahaha! Now that must be one of the most brilliant jokes devised by mortal minds. Technology is nothing more than the embodiment of humanity's hubris.

[William has no problem with collecting spiders honestly. Sure some people might fear them, but he rather appreciates the efficiency of their design. Truly a marvel of evolution. And besides, these aren't poisonous. Unfortunately, you don't seem to feel the same way. You're probably even wondering why you let William convince you to do this.

And he's giving you a cross look as he catches another spider and dumps it in the jar.]

Really now. It's perfectly harmless and has more to fear from you. You could easily squash it...

[Why are you being so nervous when there is money at stake?]

I'm truly, truly sorry about this!

[William says as he tries to extricate himself from this unfortunate embrace. He's not a hugger at all, let alone with completely random strangers and he can feel himself heating up in embarrassment, causing little shimmers of heat to surround the area they are in.]

At the very least, please squeeze me a little less hard.

[Because this is getting a little claustrophobic.]

Prompt E, 3

[William's been lost down in this foul place for a couple of hours and he has a deep fear that he's nothing going to get the stench off him. Despite that fear, it had been safe going, but he's getting tired, mentally frayed. Being down alone in a dank place will do that to you. And it's unfortunately causing the muck to solidify around his feet and the shadows in the sewer to grow darker, despite the bit of fire magic William is using to light his way in the form of a small flame floating in the palm of his hand.

When he rounds the corner and sees someone else, William sighs in relief, the gloom retreating a little. As much as he'd rather no one saw him in this pitiful state, he's also tired of being alone. Misery loves company after all.]

I take it that you don't know the way out either?

[The figure in the darkness stirs...then suddenly lights up, illuminated by a blue light that has little to do with his emotions. Said emotions are present, though: swirling darkly around his feet and lapping at his ankles, frantic shadows only partially banished by the beautiful and wholesome light of demonfire.]

Don't know the way?

[There's an incredulous edge to Gilles' voice, almost affronted, as if he takes offense to the idea that he, Gilles de Rais, would somehow be lost, in a sewer of all places. Absurd!]

Ha! You betray your ignorance. I absolutely know the way!

[Gilles smirks, but his bold declaration doesn't answer the question of why he's there, if he knows the way.]

He isn't sure what to make of the situation, but since he does not have his army outside of his Noble Phantasm to plunder for money to eat or indulge in other pleasures, he must settle for these menial tasks until he's built his proper army. Waver isn't here to pay for his crap. Normally, he wouldn't really do this kind of thing, but...]

Now, this just won't do. You!

[Rider is in close quarters with multiple bandits that are trying to gang up on him, sword flashing to parry and thrust towards the enemies. Join him?]

[The tiny kid with the oversized sweatshirt and bushy hair that was nearly auburn in color waved her hand at the poor sales rep with a powerful frown on her face-- heedless of the burly man who approached from elsewhere in the vicinity.]

I came in here looking for a wrench to replace the one I broke-- don't ask how, it just--

[Her protests were suddenly cut off by the booming greeting that had her literally jumping in surprise. Thoroughly rattled now, she whirled on the stranger and--

( These are-- by all accounts, the remaining, polite attempts to drive a very insistent sales representative away. Integra doesn't mean any harm, truly, but by the way the man practically grabbed hold of her right hand and shoved the damn thing on her finger, she's almost considering it. However, these thoughts are halted by the sudden pull of the ring, directing her whether she likes it or not.

Prompt E-1 - It always feels like, somebody's watching me...

( Oh, well that was just brilliant. If Integra wasn't in a sour mood earlier, she certainly is now!! Of course, what with the putrid scent of the sewage and the unnerving feeling of a pair of eyes boring into her skull, it's a little difficult to keep her emotions in check. Perhaps, most notably displayed by her reflexive motion to draw her blade and shout: )

( Nor is she concentrating too much at the water swishing at her feet, but we'll get to that... )

This would be the second time he's had to wade through one of Verens' sewers. His luck really was something.

He grimaces a little as the woman's voice echos his way, warring feelings of relief and annoyance both stemming from the same thing: He wasn't alone down here.

At least there shouldn't be anything as bad as possessed people down here anymore..... right? Otherwise their voices were definitely going to draw something...]

Some unlucky guy who fell through the street. You?

[He holds up a small, dunamis conjured flame in his hand, projecting light around them.]

Is it always this lively around here or is it just me?

[ Really. She doesn't know what to make of how things work here. So she's a little lost. This odd way of communicating was also still very new to her as well. ]

D (1 or 2)

You look like a sweet young girl who could use this! Here!'

[ The salesperson seemed very insistent, approaching her when she'd only been looking curiously at the different things that they had around this place and they thought she apparently needed this one 'special thing' and didn't seem to listen to her when she'd tried to politely decline.

Which meant they shoved the ring on Kairi's finger without warning and suddenly her feet were carrying her somewhere else without her even willingly doing so. ]

...What's going on...? Come on... stop, already!

[ She's trying her hardest to tell her body to stop moving but it's not working, so the next best thing is trying to pry the ring from her finger but she's not exactly keeping a keen eye on where she's going here. That could mean running into someone sooner or later... ]

E-1

[ How in the world had she ever convinced herself that this was going to be okay?! It'd been one thing to get dropped here without warning, but the clothes she was wearing was NOT what she'd wanted to be caught in while walking around all this sewage as it was starting to come up past the tops of her shoes now.

There's a bit of a chill creeping in along with the sense of being watched, setting her nerves on edge as she eventually summoned her keyblade. Clutching it tight as she walked, it took everything inside her to stand strong as she walked with careful steps; at least until she glanced around her feet and swore she saw a pair of eyes actually looking at her which made her eyes widen and still in her steps.

Kairi really was halfway tempted to try and lash out and see if she could maybe scare whatever it was away when she heard a noise from just a ways over and saw another person nearby, waving her arm with the keyblade in it to get the other person's attention. ]

...H-Hey!! Wait up!!

[ Don't leave her alone here longer than she'd already been so far! She's going to be hurrying toward the other person the best she can. ]


F-1

[ Of all the things Kairi had ever experienced? This was high up on the 'weird scale' but nothing like Heartless or Nobodies so she could actually help out somewhat; after all, she wasn't defenseless.

Summoning her keyblade, she tried to remember the bit of training she'd received and started defending herself against the attacks that came at her or using the flat side of the blade to bat away any of the weird little bomb things they were throwing at people, though since she was just learning how to properly wield it?

Well.

The last little emotion grenade might just have bounced off a railing and started careening off toward someone on accident. Oops. So cue +1 Kairi running at them, trying to get their attention so that maybe they can move out of the way. ]

Watch out--! Get out of the way!

[ He's used to hearing a cacophony in the streets while he's up on the rooftops, but he doesn't expect to see a girl go careening down the street like that. It's enough to make him curious, so he uses a Dark Corridor to get down to street level. Little did he suspect that that's just where the girl was heading - he'd expected her to pass him. Instead, she's running right towards him. ]

Wait--

[ He holds up his hands and braces one foot backwards, propping her shoulders away from him and hoping that stops her. ]

Klavier Gavin | Ace Attorney

[ Klavier is not a man given to extended dour moods, at least not where most people can see. As a result, even though he's been in this world under mysterious circumstances for several days, he's already found himself a little bit of contentment. He's even humming--it's a bit disjointed but it sounds like it could be the beginning of a new composition.

The ground around Klavier's feet seems to agree, at any rate. Crocuses are starting to appear! How charming! It's quickly becoming a self-perpetuating cycle, as the rock star prosecutor is so pleased by the flowers' growth that it just makes more of them appear. He crouches down in the little patch of white and purple, careful to make sure he's not in anyone's way. At least, he didn't think he was. ]

Why couldn't this have happened at home? The girls would've gone crazy for a Gavinners flower...

[ Sure, he's still learning his way around, but Klavier also wants to be helpful in this new place he's calling home. A lot of the things on the task board seemed out of his wheelhouse but he's passed this little pile of green creatures a few times now and they're not going anywhere on their own. He manages to get a few of them into a basket but... now what? ]

So, what exactly am I supposed to do with these reebos now? They are cute but I am given to understand they need to be relocated.

[ Well. Klavier would very much like to go back to making flowers grow out of the sidewalk, please. Instead he's ankle deep in disgusting mire, filth that splashed almost up to his knees when he landed in it. He only barely avoided tipping over into it completely but that feels like the last stroke of good luck he's had in a while. The place is dark, the smell is making him want to wretch, and no matter how far he walks, it's just more dark tunnels.

Frustration has him slamming a fist against the wall, then immediately yanking his hand back and wiping it on his jacket because who knows what's on that wall!? ]

If someone's bad day can make the street open up, then why is my considerably worse day not doing the same thing?

[Apollo was not as lucky as Klavier on the way down. It wasn't a far enough fall to do actual damage, but he's not convinced his tailbone isn't broken. He's not really a guy who curses, but being about 40% covered in sewage (and surely bruised) prompted an uncharacteristically colorful stream of complaints. As Klavier strikes the wall and then thinks better of touching anything, Apollo gingerly picks himself up, shaking the filth off his hands.]

Your considerably worse day?!

Ravus Nox Fleuret | Final Fantasy XV

( Prompt D - 1 or 2 )

[If there is one thing Ravus wants absolutely nothing to do with, it's rings with mysterious powers. And yet, as his terrible fortune would have it, a sales representative descends upon him, all smiles despite his tall, severe appearance. (Maybe she thought he was in need of the ring because of his imposing appearance.) So she takes his right hand, instead of his prosthetic left hand, shoving the ring on his little finger with a chirpy, 'Please try our new product!'. A flash of panic jolts through him and he jerks his hand away with a fearful expression. Immediately he tries to tear it off, but to no avail.]

What is this?! [He snaps at her, but the rep is already descending on other unwilling 'customers', while Ravus finds the ring compelling him to head outside and into the crowd. He doubts this is as dangerous as the Ring of the Lucii, but he's not about to take any chances, so he's still wrenching desperately at his finger.] No-- I must get this off--

[Do you help? Or maybe you're unfortunate enough to have a matching ring? Maybe you should just keep walking in the other direction, given how angry and agitated he's getting.]


( Prompt E - 2 )

[One misfortune tends to beget another. So it is with Lord Ravus Nox Fleuret, Supreme Commander of the Niflheim imperial army, meeting the dignified and not at all humiliating fate of being dumped into a sewer. His long, trailing white robe is already soiled around his ankles, he imagines beyond all rescue, and his armoured greaves and sabatons likely aren't faring much better. Still, there's no point in complaining about it when all he can do is try to get out as quickly as possible.

The more he stews silently on his feelings of resentment and frustration, though, the more cloying the smell seems to become, and the harder it is to move. He grips the wall with his clawed magitek hand, as if dragging himself along might actually be effective.

He turns to the person accompanying him, making an expression of disgust at the worsening smell.]

It is impossible to go through this way. We must turn back at once. [... Little does Ravus realise he's causing the problem, here.]


( Prompt B )

[By now Ravus has swallowed his pride enough to at least look at the task board, even if he balks at the idea of taking on menial jobs or, equally unappealing, becoming a sellsword for hire. Yet his skills as a warrior are truly his best, so he finds himself scanning the monster hunt postings with curiosity.]

He doesn't get why people want to travel in the sky so much. But he's here because maybe they'll find some place with even cooler treasure.

Plus, there's probably some really cool bugs up in the air, right?

However, his exploration for some cool bugs gets cut short by the sound of someone on the attack. That's a familiar sound, on land or air! He grins and turns to face the bandits that are jumping on their ship. His tail wags and he starts to lick his lips.]

[He calls out to the person who he's closest to at this point.]

[He's gripping a stone in his hand now, just waiting for the signal to go!]

[He's running up to the closest person with a big grin on his face, and his tail wagging. His hands are clasped together. It seems he's found something really cool. His face is even brighter than it normally is. Although he's usually happy, he's so happy right now that flowers are blooming as he runs over.

Holding up his hands, he opens them up to reveal... a piece of chewed up bubble gum.

[Never before had he been so accosted by a salesperson out of nowhere, and he came from a world full of demons! There was nothing but a quick, incomprehensible motormouth sales pitch and a forceful equipping of an undesired accessory. The unmitigated gall of these company people in this town was unacceptable! Frankly, to him, it sounded like all of them were in need of a sound reeducation! But before he could start in on lecturing the representatives, the ring that had been thrust on his hand began to pulse and thrum. The ring's goading feeling like it was pulling him somewhere, and he dumbly followed it along. Of course, that leads right to someone.]

...Strange. What's all this about? I hope you have an answer.

[Now this was more his speed. He'd signed up to help the Enforcers to make a little extra money and to punish some bandits in need of it. Valvatorez himself quickly decided to board the pirate's ship and take the fight to them, sword drawn and fighting with practiced and furious strokes of an accomplished swordsman.]

Ah ha! Is this really all you can muster? I've seen a single human lass unleash more potential than you cretins!

[He nonchalantly looked to whatever ally was closest to him while blocking a strike with his sword. Sure, there was a mission to accomplish, but maybe this was all part of the plan.]

[Hayato is really kind of frustrated that he got roped into taking this thing. Sure it didn't look all that bad, but he had a really hard time turning down that sales lady and so here he was. He's about to take it off when he realizes something pretty wrong- it won't come off. For something to be stuck on a being with superhuman strength, this is pretty problematic.]

[He tugs on the think comically, in the middle of the street for a moment before he holds his hand up and gives it the single most baffled expression he can muster.]

[And then it starts to tug him. He squawks in alarm as he's dragged over to some unsuspecting schmuck.]

[Okay, so this was a little more normal for him. While this wasn't fighting hideous underground terrorists bent on world domination, nor was it the sort of vigilantism he was used to running around and doing, this was still kicking some ass and helping some people out. Guarding the airship from bandits seemed simple enough. He wasn't remotely worried about taking them down. They were just human right? And no one expected the mousy looking photographer to be a 6th degree karate blackbelt with superhuman powers. (though with luck, he'll be keeping the whole I'm-a-cyborg thing under wraps)]

[When the brawl breaks out, he's all but knocking them down and flipping them across the deck as they come at him with a slightly manic grin.]

[Oops, and then one of them straight up shoots him from behind. He makes a startled noise and then sneers, looking over his shoulder.]

[Hayato hits the floor with a particularly loud thud, fast asleep. Looks like his cyborg defenses don't do shit against emotion magic. He's out like a light.]

[ When action is demanded you can bet Tracer to be right on it. Which is exactly why she's hopping from her ship onto the other. She'll be bringing the fight to them. If anyone can serve as a menace and distraction, it'll be her.

She doesn't leave without a pat to anyone accompanying her and a trademark grin. ] I'm counting on you! [ And once she's on the other side can she be seen zipping around with blue blurs of her blinking. She seems to be getting the enemy's attention after a while but so far no hits just yet, which cues a few giggles from the girl while directing her jabs to the bandits. ] What? Giving up already? [ Which her good dodging so far she feels she more than deserves to be a little cheeky! ]

So anyone who feels that ring's pull to locate a green-haired, left-handed swordsman with only one eye will find him even more grouchy than usual.]

[Why aren't we out of the sewers yet? That would probably be 100% Zoro's fault. Every tunnel he turns down is the wrong one, he's backtracked on his own path at last three times, and he is the first to admit that it is not at all his fault. At all. Never. Nope. He couldn't possibly be the one who keeps getting completely, utterly lost. But does that mean the thickening sludge is due to his irritation, or that of the person with him who keeps getting blamed for not knowing the way out?]

I swear you wouldn't know your ass from your elbow without a diagram. It's this way! Water flows toward the sea, don't you know??

[Now this is more like it.

Zoro doesn't give two shits if he's on the side of the Enforcers, all he wants to do is tear shit up and this is the best opportunity afforded to him. As soon as the two airships come within range of each other, he pulls a sword and jams it between his teeth, then draws the other two and curls his arms up into a spiral over his back.]

[the barrage of shots from the bandit ship get caught in a spiraling current of air thrown off from the three swords and slow to a stop in mid-air. Several fall straight down, but a couple get deflected back into the ship. Oh, was he supposed to not hit the bandit ship? Oops.

But now the ships are close enough that Zoro readies himself to board the enemy vessel.]

No sweat, I can jump that distance. If you're scared, stand back.

[It's probably actually a bit far for him to jump, but if anyone can give him a springboard - or even throw him - that would be even sweeter.]

That's so cool! [Nobita's eyes literally light up when Zoro takes out three swords at once. Sparkles are surrounding him and he might actually be hovering a bit. Technically, he shouldn't even be on deck, but the idea of seeing an actual sky ship battle has overcome any fear or orders he might have.]

Alright! I'll back you up from here! [In his eyes, Zoro is cool and competent and has totally got this.] Air Cannon! [He grabs a strange device from the pocket stuck to the front of his shirt, firing off bursts of air at the remaining shots. He's definitely not as effective, but he hits more often than not.]

[ Koujaku's most obvious problem is that he cannot say no to a lady. So when a particularly persuasive young woman started talking to him about the fate-rings or whatever the hell they were called, he was more than inclined to go along with it. He didn't want the ring, didn't really think that it would lead him to his soulmate or anything, but the idea was cute — and it left a good opening to make comments like: "It must have worked, because now I'm here with you" that made even the saleswoman giggle and blush.

Meandering down the street afterwards, he doesn't think much about the ring again. Not until he's forcefully yanked in the general direction of a passerby that he's supposedly compatible with. Chances are high that a poorly dressed loser will be smacking into someone. ]

Hey, uh — sorry about that. You alright?

[ Who brings a sword to a gun fight anyway? This guy. Like the shitty anime trash he is, Koujaku instinctively unsheathes the absurdly large sword on his back in hopes of keeping the incoming bandits at bay for however long it takes. They don't look so tough.

He turns to the person nearest him and grins. ]

Don't worry, I've got your back. [ and, you guessed it, if it's a lady he's going to wink. if it's a dude - you know what, he's going to wink anyway. So either come fight with him, or stay back and watch him work. Either way, he's pretty good with that sword, deflecting bombs as best he can and (probably definitely) maybe accidentally bouncing them towards other passengers. ] Shit! Look out!

[Ahsoka's been pretty dubious about this whole emotions thing. It sounds far, far too much like the Sith. Really, using your anger to fuel your power is exactly what the Dark Side is. Exactly what her Masters always warned about. She can just imagine Mace Windu's face if he were to hear about it.

She feels a sharp stab of sadness at the thought. She won't see Mace Windu's face again. He's gone, like all the other Jedi.

And she's not a Jedi, so really, it doesn't matter what the Jedi would say about using emotional power. She's still too wary to let her anger out, though she can feel it, looming, building up against the Empire and all the injustices she's faced. Instead, she takes a calming breath and focuses on her other emotions. Her grief for the friends and loved one she's lost, and her hope for the Rebellion she's helping to start.

She tugs on the hope, letting it flow through her like the Force, and when she opens her eyes, there's a small flower poking through the ground. She smiles.]

[There's a flash of white light as Ahsoka swings her lightsaber to block the bandits' attacks. She's got a look of grim determination on her as she deflects the blasts, providing cover for her comrades.]

Come on, we have to--

[Whatever she was going to say is lost as a blast gets past her defense and she suddenly snarls in rage. But it probably doesn't have the effect the bandits were hoping for. She works so hard to keep her rage on lock, but this added burst breaks the dam. She rushes forward, lightsabers blazing, and starts cutting through the bandits like they're made of butter.]

[Signing up with the Beast Hunting Guild was a natural choice for Zhao Yun, if he had no lord to serve and nothing better to do with his martial prowess. And the task of protecting airships from wyverns sounded...great? Sure, why not. He is a protector at heart, so fending off hungry creatures at spear-length seemed like a good job.

But then he sees what a wyvern really is. Translations did not prepare him for the sight of living dragons of a sort, and as he stands on the foredeck of a ship, his arms drop to lower his Dragon Spear.]

I...I cannot! Dragons are sacred, even if they...ah. Want to destroy our ships.

[fog begins to pool around his feet, spreading across the deck. It may serve to obscure the ship from the wyvern, orrrr it could turn to the wyvern's advantage. Either way, it stems from Zilong's distress, and he can't figure out how to turn it off. He bears dragons on his armor, his clothing, even his headband, how can he turn against one?]

[As useful as he is in a fight, Zhao Yun is a bit in over his head, here. He's no stranger to firearms thanks to his sojourn in Orochi's dimension, but his spear is no good for countering them. One projectile grazes his arm, tearing through his sleeve, and within seconds a creeping dread begins to overtake him.]

It's not...it's not possible. We'll never manage. Don't you see it? So many people are going to die, just let them go...

[he throws himself on the nearest comrade, trying to pull their weapon away and convince them to turn the ship around and get the hell out of there, even if he's no coward and would rather die than run.

And then one of the sleep grenades lands too close to him. BOOM. At least he's not panicking in unnatural fear any longer, but instead, Zhao Yun wavers and then faints away in a dead sleep. His spear clatters next to him as he passes right out to serve as a speed bump to anyone trying to make their way across the deck.]

Zelgadis understood pushy merchants, but this was a big ridiculous. It didn't help that this one had just made a comment about how everyone had someone, with the unspoken, even people like you. "Now, I'm definitely not- hey!" Despite Zelgadis's gloves, the merchant had slipped a ring onto his finger, and he was now careening across the street, pulled by whatever force the ring was producing.

"I am not coming back to pay for this!" As warnings go, it was loud, yet confusing. feel free to either be the target, or just someone in the way of Zelgadis's date with destiny.

Prompt E -- 2

it was pretty easy to be unhappy when one had unexpectedly taken a trip into the sewers, especially when these ones were particularly disgusting in Zelgadis's experience, and and his foul mood was creating environmental effects that played merry hell with his magic. He had been able to wade through the muck, even if he couldn't get off the ground, but now it felt like it was moving through sand. "And now I'm stuck. Have any ideas?"

You know what does feel good? Being a swashbuckler. After tucking some sleep grenades into his belt, and checking to make sure the rope could take his weight, Zelgadis was swinging over, sword drawn and hoping to unnerve any bandits. Sure, he could stand back and cast spells, but he's not sure these idiots are worth the magical expenditure. "Come on. There's no where to go on an airship."

A Vulcan controls her emotions. She is not controlled by her emotions. Saavik may be reminding herself of this as she stares up at the sewer's ceiling, which any basic understanding of physics would suggest could not have simply disappeared and reappeared. Occam's razor would suggest a transporter, but then there would have to be equipment and a motive. "Magic?" Merely something science hasn't explained yet, and therefor still suffering from the same objections.

No emotion, only logic. And yet Saavik's lips have turned in a frown, and her brow is knit. She only turns her attention to Zelgadis when he speaks up. Even then the Vulcan's head tilts and she doesn't speak for a moment as she considers the more immediate problem.

"Perhaps we can find some leverage."

Black Rock Shooter/Stella | Black Rock Shooter: The Game

[ Stella's been told she can talk to anyone with the amulet she's been carrying around, yet she hasn't actually found the time to try it. Well, any time is a good time to give it a go, right? ]

Has anyone else ever tried this bubblegum they sell at the corner store? It tastes like mushrooms...I'm not sure how to feel about it. [ She pauses. ] Other than I don't want it anymore...

[ Whichever poor soul finds themselves Stella's object of affection, if they can even be called that, they'll most likely be unhappy to find that being pulled to this girl in particular is like being yanked into the side of a semi. That is, if they ran into her or the ring's pull was just that strong. Regardless, with her newfound beau all up in her business, Stella's a touch more agitated than she usually is. Not that it's easy to see since her face is typically so taciturn. ]

Get off me. [ On the positive side, she doesn't sound mad! At least, that would be comforting if her default wasn't a neutral face and almost monotone manner of speaking. ] Please.

[ Don't mind her casually bringing out her Black Blade. It's how she typically responds to threatens that are too close to shoot with her Rock Cannon. ]

[ If there's any option Stella's used to taking in life, it's the "let's just blow it up" option. It's the best route to take in a sewer where you only get lost rather than finding your way, and after trudging through the muck and slime, she's fully reached the point of being so done that she wants to blow up a wall and use her boosters to fly away. Only aiding this decision is how dark everything is. She didn't ever think herself afraid of the dark, but something about this is so unnerving for reasons she can't place. It makes her skin go cold and looking over her shoulder does nothing to quell the anxious need to escape that's been building over the past hour.

Hence why she's aiming her Rock Cannon at a wall and firing at it as swiftly as she possible can. She fires enough shots that her cannon overheats for a moment, which allows her to realize She fired at the other person who's been walking alongside her.

Well, being reminded she's not alone helps her focus on something other than the oppressive dark, at least! The darkness, but moreso, the loneliness that's really only missing intense cold to really remind her of the worst moment of her life. ]

You...You might want to stay behind me. I almost hit you.

[ There's a stammer to her voice that she doesn't acknowledge, and part of her hopes they won't either. ]

[Well, that was quite an impressive show of force from a girl who looked like she'd snap in half lifting that cannon. Then again, such a concept didn't really make Valvatorez so much as blink. He did, however, quickly get out of the way when the blasts started flying.

Once she stops, and speaks, the person with her, mostly clad in black anyway, and looking distinctively not quite human, answers.]

That is clearly sound advice. Is all this getting to you?

[Oddly, it doesn't seem to be fazing him very much, despite the dark and all the toxic, negative emotions around.]

[If there's one feeling that Apollo experiences with great frequency... it's irritation. He's not possessed of the most patient disposition, and he's more than a little predisposed to having annoyance spring forth from other emotions, such as embarrassment or despondence. He's been varying degrees of frustrated since he got here-- there are so many questions and not nearly as many answers as he'd like, but it seems that the more frustrated and annoyed he gets by the lack of control over the situation, the more hostile the environment around him subsequently becomes.

Right now he's stopped from taking a head-clearing stroll (or what was supposed to be a head-clearing stroll) by sharp, thorny vines creeping up around his ankles, twisting threateningly without actually ensnaring him. Yet. He's clearly losing patience with the less pleasant reactions to less pleasant emotions, but of course this only serves to make the problem worse.

Please calm this child down.]

[Despite being a sort of curmudgeonly little dude, Apollo tries his best to be respectful to most people. Sometimes this gets him in a little trouble-- he goes a little too far now and then, slipping into an inability to say no, letting himself get walked on a bit… like right now, when he’s paid too much attention to a very enthusiastic salesman and ended up with this… ring? He’s not even sure what exactly it’s supposed to do, something about ideal partners and really, it should have been complete baloney. He can just take it off later...

Except only a moment later he feels it. A weird, very physical pull, and he’s moving in that direction before he even realizes his feet are moving.]

Wh-- what the heck--?

[This is confusing enough that he’s just kind of watching the ground and his own shoes as he walks, not paying attention to anything or anyone around him until he reaches his… destination. Where… or who… will that be?]

[Wow. Super. Awesome. This is 100% exactly where Apollo wants to be. Sewers are totally great. He’s no stranger to dirty work (considering how often he’s been the designated toilet scrubber at the office) but this is… this is just a whole other level. He has never in his life ever wanted to be this intimate with sewage. His socks are soggy, the bottoms of his pants are undoubtedly ruined. The odor is overwhelming and the space of the sewer tunnel feels claustrophobic, and both of these things only feel more so the longer he’s down here. At first, he can’t tell if that’s literal or a figment of his imagination.
