TASK BOARD

In addition to the standard business jobs, there are also independent jobs, or "tasks," that can be done by anyone. These jobs are posted in a large central bulletin board located in a building called The Task Center in Merchant's Square. It's overseen by a group who collects the fees, posts the listings, monitors who takes what, and gives the appropriate payment upon completion. These are more "mercenary" like in the sense that anyone can post one and anyone can take it. They range from asking for a helping hand to run an errand to gathering a hard to get item to exterminating a dangerous monster roaming too close to farms. Some jobs may even be related to the plot or an event.

Types of Tasks

There are two categories for tasks: General and Special. They are coded "GT" and "ST" respectively. The tasks are generally ordered from "easy" to "difficult," with the more difficult/limited tasks categorized for "ST." As you can expect, General tasks are more mundane while Special ones require some higher skill or objective.

While most tasks are default set on the island, there will sometimes be some from the other cities as well out in one of the Arehtei domains. These are color coded, and the anything Arehtei related can be simple as helping restore an area or fulfilling an important objective. We also sometimes include plot related tasks.

Taking Tasks

Except for specified special tasks, there is no formal sign-up or need of proof. Players can just pick and choose at will and assume payment is received if it's successful. Unless specified, ICly characters can solo most quests and can even be handwaved. But there are some that will specify a certain number, and practically the tasks are a good way to build CR and form new teams, so we encourage players to seek out others who are interested in the same Tasks. Our CR Memes always has a section for players to post up tasks their characters may be taking.

Any tasks that have limited slots will have a separate toplevel that will be frozen once the limit has been reached.

Submitting Tasks

If you have a task idea OR if you have a character who would post up a task, submit it under the Task Submission thread! We're always open and welcome fresh new ideas. Some tasks can even lend to the plot, including yours. Alternatively, we also accept vague ideas and requests for certain types of tasks. They can be as silly, off the cuff, or s serious as you want—we take all kinds.

Forming Businesses

In addition, characters are free to create their own businesses (and subsequently their own tasks) and it will be added to the Jobs & Businesses list. You do not need mod permission—unless it might be of questionable nature. Otherwise, we'll come to you if we have questions. But you do need to have information about the business somewhere in the character's journal so others can reference it.

To have your business added, comment to the Business Registration subthread and fill out the form.

Adventure Requests

If you would like to send your character off on a rousing adventure in some distant land outside of the pre-established cities, you can make a request in the Adventure subthread. The form will ask some general preferences, such as any particular location, type of action you'd like to see, any objectives, whether it can be plot related, etc. We will then come up with a location, description, and "prompt" for you to work with. The characters will be provided with all their travel needs.

Feel free to play around with the tasks. Some can even become mini plot events with the right people, and players can create jobs in relation or as a reaction to a posted job. You don't have to feel like you need to restrict yourself to the small blurb in the description, either, so have fun with it!

Not only do we need to clean up and help restore some blighted areas, we have several "rock garden" designs that should surely cheer up the ancient Arehtei, and we trust everyone to follow the instructions and not get in each other's way. [Note: They will return to where the group encountered the train and near the cave Piphron had holed himself up during. Many of the rocks used for the rock gardens will be the same as the ones gathered from last month's train escapade. The rest will be scattered and found around the area they are sent to within Piphron's domain. There are no set OOC designs for the gardens so players are free to do whatever, but there will be those baby crabs monitoring them for Piphron. ST0112	Beastmaster Hunting Guild	Flower Festival's coming up. Go get rid of these beasts so everyone can enjoy it. Herodotus: Last seen a couple years ago, this resurrecting gigantic bird is terrorizing the skies once more, making it difficult for the airships to transport anything. So they're more than willing to ferry the lot of you up there to get rid of it. Again. Hopefully it won't come back this time. Krystos: A pack of roving crystal creatures have been spotted near Theasthai, causing a ruckus. They're not too tough, but still be careful. Those beams they fire and crystallize whatever they hit and nobody wants to spend all day chipping away at a giant chunk of crystal. Sharkliff: You'd expect this kind of thing to be in Lake Niras, but there's reports of a shark-like creature attacking travelers in the Ferril Mountains. It likes hiding in the ground and then jumping out to take a giant bite out of whatever's in front of it. Don't expect an easy hunt, anything that can tunnel through there's bound to be tough.
