Task Board: August

In addition to the standard business jobs, there are also independent jobs, or "tasks," that can be done by anyone. These jobs are posted in a large central bulletin board located in a building called The Task Center in Merchant's Square. It's overseen by a group who collects the fees, posts the listings, monitors who takes what, and gives the appropriate payment. These are more "mercenary" like in the sense that anyone can post one and anyone can take it. They range from asking for a helping hand to run an errand to gathering a hard to get item to exterminating a dangerous monster roaming too close to farms. Some jobs may even be related to the plot or an event.

Jobs are an excellent way to not only get money, but also to create emotion drops because most jobs require more than one person. Even if the job itself could be done solo, it is still possible to bring in a friend to help. Unless the job specifies, there is nothing preventing the job taker from asking for aid. We do encourage that those taking the more "quest" like jobs to bring in a partner.

In addition, characters are free to create their own businesses (and subsequently their own tasks), and we double the task board as a way to keep track of them.

Feel free to play around with the jobs. Some can even become mini plot events with the right people, and players can create jobs in relation or as a reaction to a posted job. You don't have to feel like you need to restrict yourself to the small blurb in the description, either, so have fun with it!

For more information on the task board, see this post.

LEGEND:
White for Verens. Yellow for Shaarnath. Pink for Theasthai. Light blue for Briarlan. Red for Plot. Purple for Excursion.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Each task has a code: GT#### for General Tasks and ST#### for Special Tasks. Before, players had to OOCly sign up for particular tasks, but we've taken sign-ups down to make it easier for the playerbase. In the case of tasks related to player plots or tasks which have limited sign-ups, links to top levels will be provided for players to sign up their characters.

When applicable, threads will be frozen once sign-ups for that particular task are closed.

Questions about the tasks can be directed here. Task suggestions can be made here. In order to make sure that player-submitted tasks can be integrated into the Board in a timely manner, we ask that tasks be submitted no later than five days prior to the start of the coming month. Otherwise, it will be included the following month. Thank you!

GENERAL TASKS
GT0101 Peeply Lulu On my usual weekly hike through the forest outside of Verens, I came across something pretty scary north west of Lake Niras! There's a formation of large rocks in a clearing in the forest, but something seems to have dug itself a hole below those rocks. When I went to inspect it, I saw what looked like a horrible monster I have never seen before still hiding in there! Fearing for my life, I ran away immediately before it could hurt me. If anyone can slay this creature, or figure out how to make it go away, giving me back my favorite hiking route again, I'll forever be indebted! 1000 sylvs Open
GT0102 Lavi Have a story to tell? Want to explain your misunderstood culture? Want to do either of these things anonymously even? Seek me out and tell me your story, I'll write it down and we'll both make a buck! (OOC: There will be a log for this task posted early in the month!) A meal! Plus 500 sylvs/your story sold Open
GT0103 Café au Contraire Greetings my lovelies~ ♥ We are a new café that hope to open this month but we need a bit more help ♥ Our theme is unlike any other! All ladies are to be dashing butlers, while the gentlemen shall be sweet maids, all to serve their master or mistress with food cooked with love ♥♥ To sweeten the deal, anyone who pulls in the most customers will receive a FA☆BU☆LOUS reward!!! An all paid vacation to one of the most luxurious hot spots in a city of your choosing~ 100 sylvs hr/grand prize reward Open
GT0104 Candy Some of my bouncers and bartenders are down for the count after a particularly wild Helisium. Drop by Candy’s and sub in for them, will you? Hope you can handle the bar fights. 250 sylvs and free non-alcoholic drinks at Candy’s during your shift Open
GT0105 The Wandering Emotioneers We’ve got some gigs and concerts lined up for this month all over Shaarnath. Unfortunately, two of our members broke their legs last Helisium (don’t ask how) and we need some subs. You don’t have to know how to play a musical instrument, our instruments rely entirely on your emotions to sound! But they’re also very sensitive, so the slightest twinge of anxiety, fear or dread can cause a sour note. 250 drasks per concert Open
GT0106 Yven My inn, Yven’s Roost, has gotten a lot of good reviews lately from satisfied customers. That’s the good news. The bad news is that all this joy and satisfaction are causing the furniture to suddenly come alive! Chairs keep scuttling out from under people, the tables love to play hide and seek, and the faucets squirt water at anyone who tries to wash their hands! Come in and tell us a sad story to make my patrons weep, and I’ll pay you handsomely.. 150 sylvs Open
GT0107 Organization of Concerned Citizens of Verens Helisium is over, but there are still some stray fireworks from the festivities zipping around and chasing people! Send them up with feelings of joy and gladness into the sky where they can explode safely. Or, you know, get rid of them the old-fashioned way. 200 sylvs Open

SPECIAL TASKS
ST0101 Dr. Paul Our group would like to study the emotional influxes caused by unstable or disruptive relationships between friends, families, and romantic partners. We will also be testing new devices to help mitigate the negative effects born from such volatile emotions. Our hope is that these devices will help in future therapy sessions. With the chance to receive consul in bettering the relationships, we'd like those interested to join our open forum and, as the youth say, "lay it all out" to discuss your problems. From minor grievances to serious issues, all are welcome. 500 sylvs per participant Open
ST0102 Beastmaster Hunting Guild The guild headquarters have been struck by vandals, and we need volunteers to assist with clean-up as well as tracking down those responsible. All helping hands welcome; we want to find who did this as soon as possible!

(OOC: For those who are showing up to assist with clean-up, they will find a banner reading ‘MURDERERS’ GUILD’ hanging over the entrance to guild HQ, as well as red paint splattered all over the side of the building. Meanwhile, those looking into the identity of the vandals will have the opportunity to find the following points of evidence:
  • a few downy feathers (these can be discovered to be from Blue's Pidgeot's wings)
  • a long, bleach-blonde hair
  • the culprits wore gloves to prevent any fingerprints left behind, but shoeprints can be found all over the roof (some partial paint-prints of shoes as well)
  • any night watchmen or enforcers that were in the area found themselves suddenly and quietly lulled to sleep for the couple hours when it happened, but only when they approached the wooded/park areas around the building

For those who wish to track down the vandals, please get in touch with the players of Blue, Archie and Plumeria!)
  • 800 sylvs Open
ST0103 VTSB Coalition The CrystalTech Research Institute and the airship docks were the primary targets in Verens. CTRI focused on the development of weapons and advanced machinery on airships, and various prototypes and data were taken. Although nothing was taken, there is evidence of forced entry at the airship docks and there is fear that plans for a new type of airship has been compromised. These facilities have been testing new "security camera" devices and assistance is required in combing through the images. One of the prototypes also has a tracking device, but the sensors have been damaged.

(OOC: All locations can be examined for clues, no witnesses. Those following the tracking device will be using new prototype speedships for fast travel as well as tracking devices that must be powered by one's crystal. They will eventually be led to Inoman, near the shrine.)
    1800 sylvs Open
ST0104 VTSB Coalition In Shaarnath, the northern crystal mines have been raided, the historic battlefield vandalized, and the Great Library had an attempted break-in. However, a security guard was able to stop the attempt although the suspect managed to escape. Traces of dunamis use has been detected and thus those who are proficient in it are requested to help track down the culprits.

(OOC: All locations can be examined for clues, security guard can be questioned. Several noticeable chunks of metal from the battlefield are now completely gone, large pits in their place. Follow the tunnels out further into the desert, but beware the creatures that dwell beneath the sands along with an unusually hot, scorching sun.)
    1800 sylvs Open
ST0105 VTSB Coalition In Theastai, the Great Amphitheater and both towers were the main targets of theft. In the Amphitheater, numerous machines, props, and costumes are missing. In the East and West Towers, large amounts of crystals were taken. There is no forced entry in any of these locations. Some potential trails have been found and we need several parties to follow and see where they lead.

(OOC: All locations can be examined for clues and there are performers who can be questioned. Follow waterways to find bits of debris that eventually lead to the Crystal Cavern. Numerous traps and ghostly "apparitions" lurk within, as if guarding something. Beware of the reflections from the crystal walls and floating crystals. Use of performancy will be most beneficial.)
    1800 sylvs Open
ST0106 VTSB Coalition The main targets in Briarlan were Fyxit Wells and the Institute of Techmotion. A significant amount of inventory and scrap parts were stolen from Fyxit Wells, and data servers were breached at the Institute. Special explosives were used in each location and we have some leads that need to be followed through.

(OOC: All locations can be examined for clues and researchers can be questioned. The information will lead searching parties to a large, old warehouse on the outskirts of the island near what looks like an abandoned airship dock. There are numerous malfunctioning machines around the area and inside the warehouse keeps shifting like an illusionary maze. Investigators will be given unique weapons to test and use throughout in appreciation of their efforts.)
    1800 sylvs Open
ST0107 Captain Mack Barrow We need janitors to clean our airship bathrooms during our trips. Yeah, our bathrooms are pretty horrible and I can’t go in there without gagging, but we’ll pay you good money to swab those decks! Watch out for rowdy sailors wanting to pick fights or not leaving the toilet seats up! 550 sylvs per day Open
ST0108 Beastmaster Hunting Guild Helisium was fun, but it looks like we aren’t the only ones having frolicking in the summer heat. Watch out for these monsters and put an end to their celebration!

Cracker Phoenix: After all those fireworks went off during Helisium, Verens and Briarlan have seen a rise in Cracker Phoenix numbers. These duck-sized flaming birds are born from the remnants of fireworks and fires lit for grand celebrations, and their feathers are hot enough to burn unprotected skin. They won’t try to hurt you, but they’re flying fire hazards and bad news to any plants or wooden houses near them! Catch them and bring them back to us, but try not to hurt them. Anyone who wants to keep a Cracker Phoenix as a pet must secure the necessary licenses and fireproofing manuals.

Creeperpillar: These oversized caterpillars with sharp teeth can be found in densely wooded areas or caves, and are notorious for coming out at night to carry away livestock. They are masters of camouflage, but easily give themselves away with their stench (they always smell like rotting meat) and their clumsy gait. Get rid of them!

Bifronze: Several locals have claimed to have encountered this particular creature, rumored to be a demon, in the docks district. It masquerades as a human, often a shopkeep or dock worker, and will do whatever it takes to try and lure its prey away from populated areas, isolating them. Reports state that those who were successfully lured away saw it shift into what appears to be a shadow holding a scythe, followed by a vicious assault. None of the victims so far have sustained any physical wounds— the damage appears to be psychic in nature, as victims are drained of their energy and left to collapse, with at least two victims having been reported as comatose. Conventional weapons won’t work on this one; bring magic and lots of it if you want to banish this menace. Maybe even an old-fashioned exorcism?
500 sylvs per Cracker Phoenix captured alive

    1000 sylvs per Creeperpillar

1500 sylvs for assisting in hunting the Bifronze
Open to groups of 2 or more.
