Monthly Mod Announcement: December
Hello everyone! December is here, and it’s hard to believe that the end of 2018 is already fast approaching! With the end of the year being so busy for everyone, we’ll be keeping things light this month, with a mini-event later in the month rather than something full-scale. In addition, there will be no IC calendar this month, but it will return in January! As a reminder, we also do activity a little bit differently in December, and details on that can be found below.
As far as life on the island is concerned, the Notus season has begun in earnest, and December/Ennea will bring some light snowfall with it. This is also the time of year when several Otherworlders like to share winter holiday traditions from their homeworlds with one another! Though the last few months have have been tumultuous at best, we hope that this month will give everyone a reprieve and a chance to relax.

JOBS & TASK BOARD
The Task Board has been updated so characters can start taking on odd jobs if they are so inclined. Details as to how the Task Board works and sign-up (if applicable) can be found on the said post, as well.
In addition, there is a Job List sheet that lists out more permanent jobs available for characters. The link to the job list can be found here. These are different from the Task Board jobs as they can be used as part-time or full-time jobs and do not have any specific time period. If you want your character to have a job, that's it. This is also where we will list character run businesses. So if you have one or are thinking about one, there will be a place where it can be referenced and looked at. You can even make tasks relating to your business.
The location of each task is determined by the colors they're labeled with. So, White = Verens; Yellow = Shaarnath; Pink = Theasthai; Blue/Grey = Briarlan; Purple = Excursions; Red = Plot.
Note: We always welcome and encourage players to submit various tasks for the Task Board! However, in the interest of fairness and making sure that player-submitted tasks can be integrated into the Board in a timely manner, we ask that if you would like your task to be included that it be submitted no later than five days prior to the start of the coming month. Otherwise, it will be included the following month. Thank you!
EMOTION TRACKER UPDATE
The Emotion Tracker has been updated with a new set of sheets for July through December. If you forgot any threads from last month, you can still submit to the tracker and just have it count toward this month. This includes any events that occurred.

Anyone who is interested in the fancy breakdown of points and emotional trends can find it here, but don't worry too much about it if numbers aren't your thing.
Though the emotion tracker is balanced overall this month, some Arehtei are leaning significantly more negative than others, while a couple are skewing a bit more positive. None of these are large enough differences for anyone to be concerned about, of course, and especially considering recent events, balanced is quite a good place to be. Time will tell what the end of the year will bring!.
MYSTERY GIFTS FOR NOVEMBER
Players who submitted to the Emotion Tracker last month are invited to choose an IC Mystery Gift from the list below for each contributing character! Below is a top-level where you can let the mods know what item you've chosen. These Mystery Gifts will appear at the foot of the character's bed once they wake on the day of your choice. If the character doesn't sleep, it will be at their doorstep.
Here are the Mystery Gifts for November:
- A sexy police costume
- Mood-inducing scented candles (pick a scent and an emotion and it will help your character feel this certain emotion when the candles are lit)
- A crystal ball that reveals a five-second future memory of the user
- A pair of gloves that evoke happiness
- A live chicken
- A pair of pyjamas that guarantees good dreams whenever they're worn
STATE OF THE AREHTEI
Appointments can still be made with individual Arehtei here, complete with updated player list. Here’s a glimpse of where each of the Arehtei are at right now:
- Aiada - Aiada is still trying to put on a brave face with Thras' death, and refuses to mope about it. Her sprites can be found around the city perched in the branches of buildings, just listening to others talk and watching. If noticed, they'll wave back!
- Daimonia - Daimonia is still trending negative on top of everything else, and sees no reason whatsoever to come out of her own sulk. Lately she has taken to swimming around in the canals of Theasthai in her tiny form, occasionally surfacing to eavesdrop on people in the hopes of getting some juicy gossip. She can be tracked down, but it will take some doing, and she seems to be refusing to emerge from the water out of sheer pettiness. She could perhaps be bribed with figgy pudding.
- Elios - Elios has been communicating with a lot of Otherworlders lately and has said that he will give Thras three months before he searches for whomever was responsible for Thras' death so he can get his revenge. Seeing as the leader of the rebels has been captured, though, Elios has decided to hold off and just wait peacefully for Thras' return. He seems to be working with some natives in restoring Diateris and exploring more of it. He's looking for something…
- Peromei - Peromei has only sunk deeper into her gloom, despite the rebels' capture, and is more likely to be found in her ruined lands than anywhere hospitable. Although she will accept any telepathic communication, it will be difficult to get her to meet in person—almost as difficult as improving her mood.
- Piphron - Piphron has indulged himself enough in his nice, long sulk, and his domain has become slightly less hazardous for visitors. At least, no one need fear being singed anymore. Though he remains in a foul mood and will laboriously delineate the sins of humanity to anyone wretched enough to pay a visit, he can, at least, hold a conversation without erupting in anger. He will remain in his mountain for the month.
- Sosyne - Sosyne's self-imposed exile will come an end this month, and she won't be returning to the lake. Instead she'll be hanging around Verens in her mini form, her default expression being the judgiest grumpiest expression a tiny whale can make. She realizes the Otherworlders have done their best with her attack and Thras's death, but she's still not happy about it. She'll be available for regains and interactions, but her mood won't be improving anytime soon.
- Thras - While there has been no further word on when Thras might be reborn, the citizens of Shaarnath await him with bated breath. For now, his temple remains empty.
EVENT FOLLOW-UP + POLL
Thanks to the efforts of both those who set out to pursue the rebels, as well as those who did their part by offering aid to Shaarnath itself, things are beginning to stabilize in Thras’ city. Though there were some casualties during the fighting, through your efforts the rebellion’s leader, the Lady in Red, has been brought into custody, as have a large number of the men and women working beneath her. Though they will certainly be questioned about their actions and motivations, there’s still the issue of what’s to be done with them.
Shaarnath’s particular brand of justice demands execution for such treason, but given that Shaarnath’s old ways are a large part of what caused this problem in the first place, the city’s leadership is open to input from the Otherworlders that Thras has deemed so important to this world’s survival and prosperity.
There are a number of different options to be considered, and each player will have the opportunity to vote, or otherwise offer input. The current options are:
- Execution: Traditional Shaarnath punishment for treason.
- Imprisonment: Lifelong imprisonment, with little to no hope of release.
- Rehabilitation: Imprisonment with the intent to rehabilitate the criminals and reintroduce them into society at a later date. This will not apply to the Lady in Red.
- Exile: Banishment from the city, which would mean sending the rebels back out into the desert, but without access to what remains of their stronghold, which will be repurposed by the city of Shaarnath itself as an outpost.
- Other: Should any Otherworlders have other thoughts on the situation they’d like to make heard, they are certainly free to do so.
You can cast your votes here! Each player is allowed one vote per character, as characters are sure to have differing opinions on how to proceed.
THINK TANK + NPC APPLICATIONS
We are still in need of a new Think Tank member and player for Daimonia Applications were originally open through November, but have been extended as the slot still needs to be filled.
What does a Think Tank member do? Primarily, each member of the Think Tank is responsible for an Arehtei and handles their regains and appointments, as well as offering a monthly “state of” for the monthly bulletins. In addition, Think Tank members have input on worldbuilding, Arehtei development, plot and major events, so if you love Empatheias and have ideas you’d like to share and see put into action, the Think Tank may very well be the place for you!
Applications for the Think Tank are here and will be open until the end of the year, with the intent to bring the new team member aboard in as soon as possible. We hope to hear from you soon!
DECEMBER ACTIVITY CHECK + BONUS
Just like the previous years, December will be a lenient month for activity! We'll still require activity, but we'll only require half of the usual amount, meaning either 1 entry or 5 comments.
As a bonus, those who do complete the normal activity requirements will receive a one time free pass to use in 2019. If for whatever reason you end up not being able to fulfill AC, forgot to post hiatus, or so on, you can use the pass instead of taking a strike. This can only be used once, and it's only for 2019.
Any previously unused bonuses from 2018 will be purged at the end of the month, so don't forget: even if you still have a pass from the previous year, it won't be valid after the end of December!

I understand if I have to be removed rather than given a strike, and if that is the case, I do intend to come back in January. But I had been looking forward to a lot of plans with CR in December, including Ayumu & Hifumi's birthday party, so I'm here asking for a strike. I'm sorry to be a bother, and I hope this doesn't come off as rude! I only want to point out I've been very active, and I'll be willing to meet whatever increased activity requirements you deem acceptable. I'd really like to have a lot more fun with everyone here!
