Character Name: Dezel
Canon: Tales of Zestiria
Brief Personality: In a nutshell, Dezel is a former lone wolf sort who is in the process of learning to be more personable and social. After years spent being essentially "alone" among his merchant/assassin family due to their inability to percieve him, plus his crap ton of issues and emotional baggage, Dezel got to the point where he automatically kept those who could percieve him at arm's length. Emotions beyond anger, hate and frustration were also difficult for him to process. Being in Verens for well over a year has helped him remember the importance of friendship and open a bit more, however, and though he remains the super serious sort in most cases, he has learned how to get close to others again and to be more open and honest with his friends and with himself. Of note, Dezel is also an excellent cook and has a major soft spot for animals and nature in general.
Appearance: For those who can see him (and for more information about seraphim visibility, check this handy-dandy guide here!), Dezel is a nearly 6'1" (185 cm) tall wind seraph with tan skin, shoulder length white-silver to green gradient hair and triangular shaped, shark-like teeth. His eyes are green, though they're often difficult to see due to his shaggy bangs and the way he tends to wear his black, amulet adorned top hat pulled down. He dresses largely in black and green, and tends to wear the same gear on a daily basis for very personal reasons. (Though once in a while he can be convinced to try a change of pace dependent on the occasion. He just needs to infuse any new clothing/accessories with his mana and "own" it so that it becomes just as invisible as he is to most humans.)

Slice of Life or ADVENTURE: Being a wind seraph, Dezel has a natural tendency toward wanderlust and likes to venture outside of Verens from time to time to get away from the routine life, sights and noise of the city. He's also used to life on the road and as an adventurer of sorts, given his travels with mercenaries, merchants and then the Shepherd Sorey. He's also a skilled fighter and does decently with support in battle. These are things that are easy for him to take on, however, so as his player I do sometimes prefer slice of life situations. As Dezel isn't the most social of creatures, it's good for his character development to be in awkward/difficult situations where he's forced to deal in words rather than with artes/weapons.
Current Activities/Developments: In some ways, Dezel is still reeling a bit from the false memories event in that while he previously accepted his fate at home, he is no longer so accepting of it now. If he could somehow alter his own timeline to fix his mistakes, he would. At the same time, he is also trying to make the most of his time in Verens and recently quit his job with the Enforcers to become Rose's business partner so they can run the Sparrowfeathers merchant guild on the island and beyond. Making their committment permanent through marriage is also on the horizon.
Future Developments: Somehow, Dezel still hasn't made much progress in learning Dunamis, so that should likely change. He also needs to deal with a lot of the self-loathing that's cropped up again due to the false memory event. Knowing he can't go home has left him feeling guilty and restless, and he either needs to learn to let that go or discover a way to change his own fate, if such a thing is even possible. Likely he and Rose will also need help with their wedding, and with building up their business/managing the shelter they want to take on maintain for the less fortunate in Verens.
Shipping/Romance: Dezel is obviously very taken. Given his level of obsession devotion to his fiancee, he has no interest in anyone else and either wouldn't notice any attempts to flirt with him or, if he did notice, would end up flustered/annoyed. (Mind you, I'm not saying flirting can't or shouldn't happen... the result would probably be a brush off or something negative, though.)

Seeking: Honestly, just about anything, really? My personal preference is more toward positive CR, though, and I do like placing Dezel in situations where he either has to deal with extremely positive sorts (because they tend to be more than he knows what to do with and that makes interactions entertaining) or those who may somehow need his help outside combat situations, since that may force him outside his own comfort zone.
Offering: Dezel is the grouchy, serious, straight man sort who tends to get teased by others if just because his flustered reactions can be highly entertaining. He's got a softer side to him that makes him a surprisingly good uncle/older brother sort, however (some of us jokingly like to call him "Dadzel" in relation to how he treats his much younger CR). His barriers do take some time to break down (the journey is half the fun?), but once someone gets through to him, he can be a very loyal, protective friend.
Not Interested In/Avoiding: While I do enjoy slice of life RP and that can be very good for Dezel's development, I always want those kinds of interactions to have a point behind them. If a subject of discussion is too mundane, there is that risk that Dezel won't be able to maintain interest, as he's never been the sort for small talk.
