I'm not saying you must take the lead. She may be willing to as well. What I am saying is to be open with communication. It sounds like you two are still getting to know each other so you just need to be open with how she makes you feel, things you like and dislike and so on.

I believe I should be happy to, were I possessed of nothing to fear. That is to say my surest way of disappointing her would be to open up about my emotions. They are not what most people would call standard.

She may have similar fears about herself. Standard is something that only defines what is common and no one will be exactly like it. If you fear it so much, see if you can get her to open up and if that may ease your fears.
