Has your character interacted with the Arehtei before? Yes, a few times.
Why is your character running? Armin has a personal fondness for Peromei, after meeting a few times. He also realizes that people often have questions for Arehtei that don't get answered because they simply can't find them, and having representatives might help alleviate this problem.
Why should your character be chosen: Armin's relationship with hope has been central to his character development, both in game and in canon. Hope drives him; it's what he relies on when the outlook is grim, it's a distant dream that fuels him through challenges normal people would otherwise call impossible. It's what's fulfilled him ever since he was a child.
His hope is also more pragmatic and realistic than most. It's not as though he feels shining optimism towards all things-- those impossible challenges I just mentioned? Armin often feels that they're impossible too. But he knows that nothing will be gained unless you try. And try he does. Again, and again, and again. His hope becomes even stronger as he struggles, until it becomes belief.
In game, he has fought with the idea of Arehtei, and magic that relies on emotion. At first, he felt it was invasive, and unfair. People can't help what they feel, right? But after awhile, becoming more in touch with his emotions has improved his general outlook on life, and he (sometimes begrudgingly) realizes that striving for inner harmony benefits him as a whole.
He also just likes Peromei. He remembers their talks well, even when they weren't under the best of circumstances, and he wishes her all the best.
Challenge preferences: A good challenge would be one that addresses the fact that Armin's hope is not some kind of magic lightblub that's always on-- he's not blindly optimistic at all times. Hope is his struggle, not his nature. It's something he fights for.
Armin also operates on a moral greyscale. While he feels personal grief at the loss that's been caused by war, he also understand it's necessity, and has made choices that led to people's deaths. His feelings on the matter are easily summed up by two of his more famous quotes: "No one person is good for everyone." and "In order to defeat monsters, we must also become monsters." So a task that challenges that aspect of his personality would be good too.
Extra + Questions: No questions! If it means anything, Armin has a very good activity record, and I'm on every day, so people wouldn't have to wait long on me if Armin is needed to do representative duties.
