TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
Asami Sato (Legend of Korra)
Apparently her confidence manifested itself in a constant stream of wind. Asami's hair drifted behind her wherever she walked outside, and the gust blew stronger when she made the ballsy decision to go take a look-see at the Airship Facility she'd been hearing about. Perhaps she wasn't the only foreigner who'd be interested in the trip, so she gave the amulet a whirl to summon a telepathic invitation:]
Does anyone know anything about the Airship Facility? I was thinking I'd like to go check it out.
[This was noted right beside the task board. Sorry if her awesome wind blew away the page you were looking at.]

When the wind of her arrival makes the papers flutter, he only chuckles and reaches out to hold the one that he's currently reading flat, glancing at her to give her a friendly smile before he turns his attention back to the paper in front of him. A moment later his attention is divided again by the message, and impulsive as ever he opens it up, 'reading' it, and then sending a response in voice.]
I don't know anything, except for where it is, but I'd like to see it too!
no subject
Smiling, she responds with a voice:]
That works for me. I'm at the task board now, but we can meet a little later if you need more time to get ready.
no subject
You are? [He asks, and then realises that it's silly to continue like this when he still finds it a little unnatural and unnerving. Instead, he speaks out loud, looking around at those around him.] Hello? Who is it who wants to go to see the airships? [Well, hopefully his accent is somewhat recognisable, if not his voice.]
no subject
That would be me! Isn't that funny. [She grins and sticks out her hand for a handshake.] My name's Asami, what's yours?
no subject
no subject
She releases his hand and places hers on a hip.] Whichever you prefer. It's your name, so I'll give you the final say.
[She begins a stride.] C'mon, let's get to know each other on the way.
no subject
[He matches her stride easily enough, assuming that she knows the way until he has any sign of anything different.] Why do you want to see the airships in particular?
no subject
You could say I have a special interest for vehicles. [She smiles directly at him and shrugs her shoulders.] I own an automotive and technological company back home, and one of the things we make is airships. I'd like to see how they differ here. How about yourself?
no subject
I've flown planes, though! And I have a sleigh that can fly, but I only use that at Christmas. If you make them, can you fly too?
no subject
That flying sleigh, though. A brow raises with the effort it takes to fathom something like that being possible.]
No, I can't say we've ever had flying sleighs... but you could arrange a seating area on the back of a flying bison, if that counts. What's special about kris-miss that you summon flying sleighs for the occasion?
no subject
[What an excellent description, I'm sure she'll understand completely.]
