TEST DRIVE MEME: JULY
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Friday, July 18th and Applications open Friday, July 25th. Game will begin Friday, August 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind!
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: With the influx of people suddenly appearing, the locals are a bit on edge. So rather than having your character’s emotions affecting the environment, someone else's is affecting them! Maybe they were just passing by and someone had an emotional outbreak of sorts. Now they have to figure out how to deal with the aftermath—or will their own emotions make it worse? Needless to say, NPC godmodding granted 100%.
• Prompt E: Make your own! It can even involve booze and/or cats.
• Prompt B: The following are generic task board prompts that characters could have taken up as a job.
- You have to collect X number of materials. Find a partner to make it easier!
- There's a hostile creature attacking some of the neighboring farms. If you got a weapon, they could definitely use your help!
- How about helping around the town? Delivering something, helping patch up a sign, cleaning out some of those rusted gears—the locals would definitely warm up to everyone.
- Make up your own task/quest!
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
C
[the words come like an explosion of enthusiasm and positive energy, likely sparking inside Rikka's mind like a bright, explosion of pinkness]
It's really you! I'm hearing you in my head! This is so exciting!
no subject
Yes, Mana, it's me. Is it really that exciting, though? You know what my voice sounds like. I just don't have to be next to you anymore for it.
[...Which shouldn't make her as happy as it does, and it radiates as a feeling of warmth across the "line" even as she tries to sort out the feeling. Of course, that comes across, too.]
Not that that's a bad thing, either. I'll feel a lot better about this place if I can check in without having to find everyone.
no subject
[leave it to Mana to blatantly state what she's experiencing, because that warmth is something she's picking up on as well]
... And oh yeah, that's a good point. We can keep tabs on each other when we're in trouble, can't we?
no subject
[Pause, blink.] Wait, you heard that? This might take some getting used to. But yes, I'll definitely be happy about being able to keep track of everyone. Our Communes should still work, but this will be faster.
no subject
[just as the warmth shown through moments before, Rikka can likely get a sense of Mana's regret and embarrassment... something that Rikka doesn't likely experience all that often.
But she recovers quickly, her next statement coming through clear and decisive]
Right! If it's more efficient, it's more efficient, right? Besides, this feels closer, to be honest!

It'll be nice for us to be able to talk without my having to come over so often, too. So... if you ever want to talk, I'm always here.
no subject
Mmm, I could stand to be a bit less excited though. I'm glad, though, we can work something like this out, quickly.
no subject
...It is convenient, though. Whether it's important or not, we're only a reach away from each other. Although I wouldn't object to a visit or a sleepover, either. There are some things that are still best communicated in person, you know?
no subject
... though, ah, on the subject of sleepovers and stuff... is there any reason why we shouldn't all try staying together? We can live together all time time, I think!
no subject
We... could, I guess. I don't see a problem with it. It'd just be something new for us to work with. It would mean we wouldn't get separated easily, and if something happens we can respond quickly. [And she'll be close to the people she's worried about most, but she's not going to share that.]
no subject
[there's Mana getting excited again...]
no subject
[Someone remembered that the links tend to pick up stray thoughts just a little too late, and her embarrassment is clear as day.]
no subject
Hey now...! Don't talk like that! You're Hishikawa Rikka, the swallow to my happy prince! You're the amazing person who makes it possible for me to reach people... and as far as I'm concerned... you're one of the prettiest and smartest people I know...!
[Mana's "tone" is firm and assertive... but as emotions are being carried over, Rikka can also feel the affection and trust Mana has in Rikka. Oh and hey, this is one of the first times she's ever called Rikka pretty...]
no subject
Even the most beautiful painting suffers if it's on a dirty canvas. It's nice of you to say that, but... I just don't know that I believe it. Smart, I can agree to. But there's a reason you're the leader and not me.
...Don't tease me, Mana. I'm really not in the mood.
no subject
[yes, she's very hard and firm, with that stubborn instance and complete confidence in what she's saying]
Please, don't let this get you down. This is a good thing, and I'm happy to share this chance with you. Because you're you Rikka...!
