TEST DRIVE MEME: DECEMBER

Welcome to

empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

Date reminders. Reserves open Monday, November 24th and Applications open Monday, December 1st.
Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

PROMPTS

• Prompt A: Things are a bit out of control right now, and that includes your emotions and the elemental cores. Just the slightest feeling will be exaggerated. You were only smiling a little? You're now a walking light bulb. Just a little pout? Strong torrential rain is now over the entire block.

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…

• Prompt D: The current state of the city has left a lot of the usual magitechnology useless or barely functioning. For a modern analogy, it's basically a blackout and you're left with appliances that are running on low batteries. Fortunately there are plenty of torches and other old fashioned "technology" about. So how do you make do?

• Prompt E: The city is worse for wear and needs help getting fixed up. This can be done one of two ways: physical labor or using positive emotions to help speed the process a long. Which do you try?

• Prompt F: BONUS EVENT BASED PROMPT! Pick a prompt from the Harvest Festival. What choice would your character have made?

• Prompt G: Make your own! It can even involve squirrels or a cart of oysters.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

[Kor had taken on a request to make a delivery, as per the details on the task board. It should be a piece of cake for him; After all, being a mule for Wanderlust was what he was paid to do! ...Okay, so he wasn't exactly being "paid" for those services, but it was still a skill he got to demonstrate!

...Or so he thought. He managed to find the delivery location (or at least the place he thought was the location, the instructions were pretty vague, after all), but it seemed like actually making the delivery was another matter entirely. He makes a few knocks on the door barring his progress.]

Hello! Special delivery here!

[He waits about 20 seconds. Maybe he could just leave the package here? ...No, no, that wont do at all. What if they don't ever get it?! He knocks again.]

Anybody home?! Helloooo!

[He really hopes someone answers soon. He can't just go back and say he tried... After all, Kor Meteor doesn't just try, he DOES! ...and he really does want to make sure this gets delivered, and quickly.]

[Somehow, when he came to this harvest festival looking to have a good time, this isn't exactly what he had in mind. Honestly, he hoped to be on the other end of this, being the one to dunk the other person. That seems WAY more fun.

But still, he had to make the best of this situation. Surely this part would be fun too. So he decides to egg on his challenger a bit.]

C'mon, gimme your best shot here! I'm sure you won't be able to get me!

[so Jude was busy doing RESEARCH. very IMPORTANT RESEARCH. because they all want to get home quickly, right? that means he has to study dusty old books as much as possible to see if he can uncover anything that might get them home faster.

so far it hasn't done anything but educate him about the town's esoteric cultural practices, but hey, he's trying!

anyway, because of all of this he didn't hear the knocking on the door until Kor starts to shout. And so he goes over to open the door.]

Hello? [Jude wasn't expecting any deliveries but this guy looks... antsy. And is carrying a huge box.]

[Oh thank the whale, someone finally showed up!]

Hey there! I've got a delivery here for you!

For me? I didn't order anything myself... What's the name on the package?

[there are a lot of people living here, after all.]

Let's see... [He squints at the box, tilting it, turning it, trying to get a good view of the name. It's such a huge box and the label is perched in the opposite corner of where he's holding the box.]

It's addressed to 'Alvin...'

[The last name on the box appears to be illegible. It doesn't even look like words. Just a smudge. Who the heck addressed this?!]

...Ugh, no good, I can't make out the last name. Anyway, it's for an 'Alvin'! Does he live here?

[Oh. It's Alvin's. He should have guessed.]

He doesn't normally use his last name, but yes. He lives here.

[but hey that looks like it's kind of heavy. Jude reaches out to help Kor with the box. When he touches it, it feels cold, like it's been refrigerated...] What's in here, anyway?

[Kor appreciates the help, and he starts leading the box into the apartment so they can get it set down.]

I think they said it was a delivery for twenty pounds of beef?

[Kor. you have chosen poorly. Kamina will just be tossing the ball up and down and up and down as he grins at the guy sitting like a duck at the booth.]

[dude, is he actually starting to crackle with MASSIVE EMOTIONAL ENERGY OF AWESOME? cos maybe. maybe he is.]

[he's not going to give just his best. it's going to be his SUPER BEST. when he throws that ball it's as if it was fired out of a cannon with how explosive it flies toward the target. heck, it's on fire! ...no really it's on fire. Kamina your emotional spirit may have been overkill.]

[For a brief moment, Kor is simply awestruck. He can feel the sheer raw emotional energy this guy is pouring into that ball all the way over here, and it's simply amazing. Astounding! It's like his power levels are over nine thousand!]

[--Until that ball collides with the target. The sheer force of the impact is enough to actually pierce THROUGH it, leaving a nice perfectly circular hole in it. And the only thing louder than the impact is the scream and splash Kor makes as he hits the water.]

GYAAAAAH! [SPLASH!]

anyway, at first Kamina is just standing there with a proud smirk on his face, arms crossed over his chest, and completely ignoring the stares and soon to become angry shouts because he broke the target. whatever, he did awesome.

but whenever Kor resurfaces, he'll just continue to grin and call out to him.]

How was that for ya?

[Whenever he manages to come to the surface, he takes a minute to catch his breath, sputtering up water. Man, that is not what he expected to happen.]

Wow, that--[cough]--was amazing!

Course it was! Charged it up with everything I got.

[that he has way too much of. he might have dinky amount of spiral energy, but he makes up for it in pure adrenaline and spirit!]

Didn't think it'd break the target though, heh.

Woooow... You must really have a lot to be able to pour that much into your throw, then... You don't even know your own strength!

Heh, well, don't think I could do that normally—but it would be cool if I could.

[there's something about the guy that makes Kamina feel more familiar with him. but what is it...can't quite put a finger on it...]

Thanks, I'd really appreciate it. [It's actually surprisingly hard to climb when you're sopping wet and chilled to the bone.]

[and holding out a hand. hope Kor is prepared for a manly, hearty pull out of the water.]

[He takes the hand and allows himself to be pulled up out of the water. He wasn't quite expecting the force of Kamina's pull though, so once he touches land, he stumbles forward a bit, before catching himself and standing upright.]

[Kamille had no idea why he was drawn to this particular stall. This kid seemed to be a bit younger than him, but there was something about him that attracted his attention. He didn't feel any pressure coming off of him, so he wasn't a Newtype like he was, but he seemed to exude a sort of... strength that most others didn't have, like he somehow trained his soul to become stronger.]

[He was lost in his musings until Kor's egging brought him out of it.] If it's my best you want, you can have it! [Taking careful aim, he chucked his ball at the target, hitting it dead on!]

[It was a perfect shot, Kor mused, as the platform disengaged and sent him plummeting into the water below him.]

Why does this keep happenniiing?! [SPLASH]
