TEST DRIVE: MARCH
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Wednesday, February 22 and Applications (Canon | OC) open a week later on March 1st.
- OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?
• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...
• Prompt D: The rainbow colored paint darts are back and "improved." The colors match those of the Arehtei, so purple is anger and calm, orange love and hate, pink joy and grief, etc. There are two different versions of these guns:
So either grab a gun or be an unwitting target. Note: it's possible to be hit with more than one dart, so have fun with that.
• Prompt E: There is a new type flower that has started to bloom around the island. No one knows its origins, but its scent is so wonderful and colors so vibrant that they are already spreading all over town. However, researchers have discovered something alarming: the flowers are actually absorbing the emotions of those around them and are related to the plant that had produced the apathy toxin from a few years ago. While locals can help collect those already in town, help is needed in destroying and containing the plants out on the island.
• Prompt F: Interior designers have been hard at work designing new things to make homes, buildings, and even the area outside of those two look vibrant and ecstatic, and their newest creation is flooring that responds to your feelings! The color and design will change to match how you’re really feeling at the time… or most of the time it will. They’re being shown outside in wide-spaces, to get as many people to test them and enjoy them as possible, and the color and design is based on what the person standing on them associates with that feeling.
• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include geese and/or potatoes.

• Prompt D: The rainbow colored paint darts are back and "improved." The colors match those of the Arehtei, so purple is anger and calm, orange love and hate, pink joy and grief, etc. There are two different versions of these guns:
- Emotion Seeking. The darts will actually seek out those who match the negative emotion of its type. So if there is a pink dart, it will seek out someone who is currently feeling grief. When hit, the intention is to make them feel the more positive emotion and thus hopefully improve their mood. Keyword: intention. Sometimes it can just make it worse…
- Random Target. The darts are completely random and will hit whoever the gun is aimed at. Again, the intent is to help spread positive feelings, even make a happy person feel even happier! But like the other type, it can make it worse instead.
So either grab a gun or be an unwitting target. Note: it's possible to be hit with more than one dart, so have fun with that.

While locals can help collect those already in town, help is needed in destroying and containing the plants out on the island.
- Kill it with fire. Best way is with fire, so grab a torch and help produce some controlled fires. Of course, if it goes out of control, you'll want to put it out fast. There is one side effect to this method. The ash and smoke released from the flowers contain all the emotions they have absorbed, so there may be some unwanted effects happening around the environment. Maybe even influencing your emotions.
- Deadly aroma. The sweet scent actually carries a type of toxin that relaxes the mind and muscles, making the victim feel so calm that all they want to do is just sit there and continue to be with the flower. Sounds innocuous until you realize that it's just a way for the flower to drain out the emotions to a complete apathetic state. When it's just one or two, it's not as harmful, but when you're in a field of them… Just be careful and wear the mask. Otherwise, you may find yourself lying in the flowers forever. If you see someone in this state, get them out quickly!
- Mismatching. While most of them will, in fact, work as advertised, there’s a good portion of them that will actually show a random color and design—for example, if you’re happy to see someone, maybe it’d normally be yellow with a lot of hearts! ...But in this case, maybe it’ll be red with a lot of storm clouds, as if you’re angry and upset to see them.
- Holesome fun. Younger locals have made a game out of these floors as well : one person holds up a card with a certain color and design (you decide), and the person on the tile has to match it exactly, using whatever emotions they can to try and manage it. For example, blue with flowers. Of course, it’s a little harder if you happen to be standing on one of the mismatched ones… Adding to the pressure is a time limit: if you can’t manage it in five minutes, the tile the person’s standing on will actually break and they’ll fall through the ground, thanks to certain nanobots’ rising popularity. Don't worry, you'll be helped out. Or stuck there to be laughed at.
• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include geese and/or potatoes.
For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
Shinjiro Aragaki | Persona 3 FES
[It wasn't a difficult choice. The word 'animal' all but caught his attention the second he decided it was time for him to go out and do something useful with himself. What he hadn't expected (or perhaps, didn't think about at the time), was what would happen the second he found one... or two... or three.
Until eventually there was a small group of dogs clambering around him with excited, wagging tails and cute little barks as he tried to evenly spread out the dog food he'd been carrying in his pockets.]
Alright, alright, calm down. There's more than enough for everybody, you don't have to fight over it. Geez...
[Prompt D : Rainbow Darts of Emotion.]
[There's a very long, unimpressed stare down at the dart gun in his hands. He's not sure how he got roped into carrying one, but he's just thankful that it looked different enough from his Evoker to not be a major issue, if the need for his Persona did arise.
He's not against the concept of helping people out, though, and he'll take another few seconds to turn the 'emotion gun' from one side to the other - before he's looking for someone to aim it at.
Or get shot by, since he's not really paying attention to who else is carrying one. ]
[Prompt F : The Tile Game.]
[The sight of a very tall teenager surrounded by a group of children is a pretty hard thing to miss. Though he's trying to give them some mild protest as they drag him closer to where the tiles are located, it's lacking any kind of edge. If anything, he might even be smiling a little.]
I'll play with you for a little while, but don't expect this to become a habit. Got it?
[Wildcard.]
[Bring it. :>]
I'm sorry in advance - B
Look at all of them!
[Unlike Shinjiro, he doesn't have food in his pockets so he's about as interesting as a brick to the puppies who pay him no attention.]
Aaa--um...sorry, sorry! Are they yours?
Nothing to be sorry about! *^* Hello there.
Followed by him immediately shoving his hands in his pockets, and standing up from where he'd been crouching down.]
Huh, what are you - I mean, no. They're not. [Ignore that bit of embarrassment fluttering around him as one dog proceeded to tug on the edges of his coat with a whine.] I was just feeding them, 'cause they were hungry. That's all.
Hello hello it is nice to meet you!
[Most people would probably be afraid of Shinjiro, despite the puppies around him, but Eikichi doesn't seem to mind it at all. He bends down and takes one in his arms. It's not food but attention is always welcome.]
Oh no collar, nothin'! These guys strays, then?
[
Or maybe hobos just like you Shinji]Nice to meet you too! :>
You take that back, deathmetal.]Mm. [He wasn't really sure how to react to the comment, aside from momentarily casting his gaze off to the side and lowering his face further into his coat. Realizing this guy seemed to like dogs too, though, made Shinjiro relax some.]
Yeah, they are. [Glancing back at Eikichi with a sigh.] Apparently they've been causing trouble around here, or something. It's not their fault though. They just don't have anyone to take care of them and are just trying to survive the only way they know how.
no subject
Social Link level 1 unlocked I mean.He holds on to the puppy as it begins to chew at his silver collars.]They are pretty young. Don't seem to be afraid of people either...there's a bunch of strays back home too. What did they say they wanted to do with them?
no subject
[Like where you live, or before you got here? The answer to that question is important, because one of those means there's more doggos and cats to find.
His thoughts get interrupted when the same canine currently hanging onto the corner of his coat pulls a little too hard, and he reacts by lightly scolding the pup with a 'stop that! I'll give you more in a second'. The first whine it gives off is ignored, but the moment he hears the second, Shinjiro reaches down to lightly pat the dog on the top of it's head.]
... Far as I know, they just want to find safer places for these guys to live in. Least, that's what they told me when I asked them myself. [Aka interrogated for an hour.]
no subject
...oh that's good. I ain't much of an animal guy, but I don't think doin' away with them to get them out of the streets would be a good idea either, you know?
[Is he purposefully ignoring Shinjiro's cute moments, or just silently accepting it without making a dramatic plate about it? The world may never know.]
no subject
[He's also not going to openly admit it, but he is appreciative that this guy isn't making such a big deal over him giving the dog attention. Which is why Shinji continues lightly scratching the top of the animal's head, looking somewhat brighter in the process (thanks to a few tiny sparkles in the air).]
Yeah. That's what I was thinking. It's not like there isn't enough people around here to give them a home.
no subject
[Welcome to 1999, buddy. Students are disappearing, and the Kirijo group is covering up its tracks.]
...well that's if the Iwatodai of my world is from your world as well. I'd be surprised if its not. [At least the puppies make this a little easier. A bit of a cold wind blows, echoing Eikichi's sudden uneasiness.]
...yeah.
no subject
[Unless something extremely horrible happened after he died (with SEES most likely behind it because it's them). A thought he reflects on for a split second, before coming to the conclusion that Fuuka would have told him if that'd been the case. ... Probably.
what is different timelines]no subject
[Let that sink in for a second, cause he'll go for a two-for-one combo.]
Also I'm also a Persona user like you. I wasn't sure when I should mention that...
no subject
[The word 'persona' immediately has him fall silent, before he's just blatantly staring down at Eikichi with a look of disbelief. The dogs temporarily forgotten, as he hadn't noticed there was one chewing on his boot.]
What, you serious?
I'm going to assume he has his SEES arm thing
[He keeps patting the puppy's head. It helps him calm down a bit. Somewhere Jackson is jealous and has no idea why.]
Truth is, I'm from 1999, your time. Maybe not exactly the same world either it's complicated. My friends and I, we used Personas to fight demons.
He absolutely does, yes!
Didn't realize there were people like us that far back. Sounds like your group had your own problems, too, if demons are anythin' like the shadows we fought. [He'll go back to crouching down, if simply because he needed some doggy pets as well. Which the two by his feet were immediately eager to receive, 'cause yo attention.] Yamagishi must have forgotten to mention it.
[... So he's absolutely going to ask her about you later, friendo.]
no subject
You're friends with her, right?
[You're not going to harm her, are you?]
no subject
[He's catching that serious look and sending one right back, albeit briefly. Obviously not really caring too much about whatever this guy was trying to imply, given he had no reason to prove his friendship to someone he just met.
So no straight answer for you, deathmetal.]
no subject
[10\10 on the threatening look, he'd seen about the same back him with all of the students at his school. The guy nearly smelled delinquent.
Also it's visual kei okay Eikichi stop arguing in strikeouts.]She's a really nice, bright girl. Didn't want any harm coming to her. [But with THAT out of the way, he's back to smiling! Looks like despite his crazy appearance, there might be some sort of seriously to Eikichi.] Ane-san was a persona user for three years before we met her, so users might have been going on for a while. Our methods to summon are different, mind you...and I can use more than one persona. Oh! And I've been tryin' to teach Fuuka how to summon hears without an Evoker!
[Bragging? Yes, maybe a little.]
no subject
[Doesn't mean Shinji won't keep an eye on her, but he is glad to see she's making friends here. Strange as they may be.
And talkative.]Second time I've heard of someone being able to summon more than one, too. [Small pause.] ... Or that you could do it without an Evoker. It's not harmful or anything, is it?
(no subject)

F
Aragaki-Senpai.
[She comes over, nodding respectfully to him.]
Are you all going to play a game together?
no subject
Hey! Pay attention, it's dangerous to just blindly follow along like that. You could trip or something.
[There's a few giggles, causing him to give off a short sigh as he went back to addressing Fuuka.]
Yeah. [A few kids chime in with similiar responses.] They keep mentioning something about magic tiles and want me to compete with them to see who can go the longest.
[He thinks it's a stupid idea, but... well, you know.]
no subject
She clasps her hands in front of her.]
Could I join in as well? I don't know how to play, though, so you all will have to teach me. Is that alright?
no subject
[He'd also agree with her train of thought, if he wasn't feeling conflicted about it himself. Not that he'd ever openly say that around Fuuka. She had enough on her plate without him adding something idiotic like that.
At the notion of her wanting to join, however, three kids were excitedly making their way over while Shinjiro stood with the two left behind. One of them already jumping straight into how to play, while the ones behind them chimed in with any details they felt needed to be added - basically 'match the picture with the tiles, the tiles change based on emotion, whoever can do it the longest wins'. Conveniently leaving out the bits about falling into a hole - whether that was intentional or from reasons of how eager they were to play with new people, was anyone's guess. ]
no subject
Okay, I think I've got it.
no subject
[The two kids besides him give some protest, but go quiet when Shinjiro glances over with mild disapproval. Then again, this is the first time he's heard them put any effort into what the game entails without it being some kind of excitable jargon.
Given, he'd been kinda going along with it from the start, as he assumed he'd figure it out as they went anyway.]
