The tattoos were unusual, but Sandry's foster-brother had tattoos as well, though his were on his arms and had the tendency to shift around under his skin. She also hadn't clued in that his ear shape meant he wasn't human: why would something minor (albeit unusual) be a marker that one was a different species?
[OOC note: Sandry can see active magic -- would she see anything from Fenris's tattoos? I'm assuming that she doesn't see anything unless she focuses or Fenris does something with them.]
