Eren might not be a ninja, but he can be pretty fast when he wants to. Not quite as fast as Raphael seems to be, which is amazing. No wonder he said he'd slow down... but Eren doesn't want that to be the case so instead he's doing his best to keep to his pace.

It's also distracting him from whatever they're supposed to be watching out for in the maze.
