Honestly? Probably because it isn't a common food in our area of world, so unless Hunk had lived somewhere that it was common... it seems a little odd. I mean, I didn't even think about it til you mentioned it looking like food goo. Then again, there are a lot... and I mean a whole lot, of things that are normal food in certain areas and totally weird in other areas on Earth.
