It's for this reason that he's somewhat less than surprised to see his brother working at it. Only somewhat, though; he had no idea Kristoph was even here but considering everyone else he's come across, why not his brother as well? (He can personally think of some very good reasons but just like back home, the universe doesn't seem to have taken his feelings on things into consideration.)
Of course, the site of his brother sitting with a dog at his feet, a book in his hand, and absolutely no shackles or bars, that itself is the greatest surprise.
