1) There would be a look of recognition at the name "Simpathis" with some who may repeat it in thoughtful murmurs. The shadows in the sanctuary will have a similar reaction but seem a bit more animated. However then they got lost in their memories and the sense of giving up and apathy returns. Similar reaction to whether the goddess is Simpathis. For "Who attacked you?" they will mention "outsiders" and "those who lost their way." From the sanctuary, the shadows will also mention, "they are ones who forgot the teachings of balance and harmony" and then look a bit mystified, as if wondering what those teachings are or where they had learned it. Other clues (and related to the final question) would be mentions of "angry and hateful nations" ruled by those who had been "overcome with greed and jealousy" and "only sought power and destruction."
2) If shown a brief image, there would be another look of recognition and admiration, but again it seems to get lost and covered in fog. As for other possible symbols of the creature, there do appear leftover statues, but most are destroyed by some explosive blast, as if specifically targeted. If not that, then it would seem as if they just eroded, but at a much faster rate than anything else around it.
3) Verens will not yield any reaction, but Areta will spark some recognition. Murmurs of "the protectors" and "they came to help" will be whispered, but not much more than that.
4) The moment they disappear will be quick, so they would have to be nearby for it. But if they do happen to see the piece, they will look at it in awe and may seem to cry, whispering, "at last she will be found" before disappearing.
5) Unfortunately there is not. The library would have been in one of the districts that was completely destroyed and no longer exists. But there are remnants of book stores scattered everywhere. The books left wouldn't be completely whole, both from the destruction of war and the erosion that has hit the city, so care will be needed in handling them. They also cannot be immediately read due to the ancient script, however those who have seen the text from Inoman and that sealed room in the mountains may recognize the text as similar.
