Ami Mizuno | Sailor Moon

D-3

[More than anything else, Ami is curious about how science works in this strange new world. There'd been studies that showed plants reacted well to music and conversation even back on earth, but nothing quite to this extent. It's curious to say the least.

That curiosity is something that would have to wait for another day. Right now she has more pressing things to attend to, like figuring out just the right amount of positivity to save the plants without hurting them. An experiment of a sort after all, simply because she can't seem to resist the idea.]

Let's see... use this one as the control group. [She gives the small cluster of plants an apologetic look as she passes, heading to the next cluster purposefully.] So nothing for you right now. Sorry.

[Continuing on her way, she pauses at the next cluster, staring down at the sad little plants without really seeing them. Positive thoughts, huh? A small smile curves her lips as she closes her eyes and pulls up a series of memories from the past that are a familiar comfort. Eating with Usagi and the rest of her friends.]

Honestly, she's such a pig sometimes!

[A small giggle slips past her mouth, remembering all the times her friend had made a mess or gotten food all over herself. Sure, it's a bit silly, but Usagi's unrivaled exuberance is one of the things Ami secretly loves most in life. If Ami's being completely honest, there are times she's a little jealous, wishing that she could live with the same unfettered openness and honesty as the other girl, but that's a topic for another day. Right now it's time for positive thoughts only.]

Oh! [Ami gasps as she opens her eyes, surprised to find that the plant was now much larger than it had been previously.] Oh geeze! [Another little giggle.] Much more of that and it probably would have blown up. I'll have to be more careful next time!

[Jotting a few notes down in a small notebook, Ami nods her head in satisfaction before checking the time and moving onto the next cluster. Time for test number two.]

Let's see...it's probably cheating to use the same emotional trigger twice, right?

[Ami worries her lip between her teeth for a moment, before settling on some new memories. A perfect score on a test. The feeling of rain on a hot summer day. The satisfaction of finishing a good book. The quiet, little things in life that Ami adores.]

Oh.

[The result isn't as immediate this time, the plants slowly improving in quality and freshness. They're nowhere near as big or healthy looking and honestly it stings a little. Which is silly. She's being silly. Emotions are silly, but it's not like she can stop how she feels! Panic flares up as the process starts to reverse and she quickly takes several steps back away from the plants before she can do more damage.]

That's... that's not quite what I thought would happen. I wonder where I went wrong?
