[Proto Man decided to answer the call to try to pacify... scarecrows, of all things. Sure, the easiest thing to do would be to use the Proto Buster to reduce them to smoldering piles of straw, but he got the feeling the locals really didn't want things handled that way. So, when in Rome, you do as the Romans do. Opting instead for a non-violent start, he approached one of the scarecrows and it immediately turned on him. Apparently, it really didn't like something not human in its field, thinking it might cause trouble.
Before he could do so much as get past the greeting, he had to draw his Shield and hold it in front of him to block a series of pokes with a pitchfork.
He patiently tried again.]
I'm going to have to ask you to stop doing that. You're not going to get anywhere with that. [The scarecrow didn't stop trying to stab him, only bouncing off his shield every time. Proto Man sighed.] I'm not here to cause problems. If anything, you're creating them by poking at me with that thing.
[That didn't stop it. Proto Man turned to whoever was nearby to ask a question.]
