Welcome to [community profile] empatheias' test drive meme. This test drive is to help interested players test their characters in the game's environment. We've included a few prompts that incorporate specific elements of the game, though you'll find all of them have a lot of leeway for players to get as creative as necessary. Before diving in, here are a few things we'd like to remind everyone about the game in general:

  • Date reminders. Reserves open Monday, July 25 and Applications (Canon | OC) open Sunday, August 1st.

  • OC Reminder! Just a quick reminder that original characters are currently allowed. Those interested can also use the test drive. OCs do not need to be reserved.

  • Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.

  • Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.

  • Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.

  • First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples! Reminder: We only require one sample and it can be done in either format. We have also made a change to our sample requirements, so look over the Applications page!

Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!

• Prompt A: How about giving the emotions a try?

• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request. Creating jobs for the purpose of the test drive is absolutely doable.

• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes...

• Prompt D: EVENT SPECIAL. Feel free to check out Light of Helisium beach party and use the prompts from there! It ranges from standard fare beach fun to the major highlight of the year: Verenthian Warrior. It's like the extreme Ninja Warrior obstacle course but with a twist. There are also giant crabs that may or may not be set loose. Alternatively, maybe you'd prefer the masquerade side of things. A chance to pretend to be someone you're not and perhaps find romance.

• Prompt E: IT'S A BUNNY INVASION! Driven out by the gophers that have swarmed the fields, the bunnies have turned toward the city for food. And as luck would have it, many of the farmers are also transporting their crop to the city storehouses for safekeeping due to aforementioned gopher problem. One of the wagons carrying large crates full of carrots and lettuce has turned over, and those bunnies are just swarming all over the place. Oh, but you can't kill them. The Wildlife Society is encouraging more humane methods. They are: crates made out of cushions, pillow traps, carrot costumes to act as bait, and a special ocarina that is said to help attract the rabbits. The ocarina may or may not help depending on the tune played and may actually make them angrier.

• Prompt F: There's a new popular game in town where two people work together to get through a specially designed maze. One person goes through the maze while the other is standing on a platform above, using telepathy to give directions. The catch? The maze is completely dark and the one going through it only has floating ball of light to help illuminate their path. The one giving directions has a clear view at least, so it's up to them to get their partner out. What makes the maze "fun" is that there are various "traps" and obstacles in the maze. Nice partners will help their friend avoid them. The trolls, however... Well if they'd like to see their partner get splashed with paint, hit with pillows, or have random costumed "creatures" pop out to scare the crap out of them, that's an option, too.

• Prompt G: Make your own! It could include fake explosives and/or jars of hot wax.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!

[... Huuuuh. Okay, that makes more sense.]

Uh... Do we lose points for beating them? I haven't really won yet.

[He was in the middle of it when he got tossed away. Speaking of...]

I don't think I got a box.

I don't think we really lose points, but what do you mean by won yet?

[Like...does Kirishima want to beat the giant crab???]

You wouldn't have it if you went straight into fighting the crab, right? I can get it, but there's a timer on the box so we have to keep passing it back and forth. [And he sounds like he really wants to beat the crab...]

Against him.

[He points to the back, to the same crab tossing people around like it's noone's business. Kirishima's tough, he can handle a few tosses. Maybe.]

I just saw people being tossed around, so I figured that was the point of it. Guess that means we can't try to have them for dinner...

[Look, he's not really that bad, but when else do you get the chance to eat giant crabs, huh? It's a once in a lifetime experience.]
dekuru: (what da fuq man)

[personal profile] dekuru 2016-07-24 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)

[He looks at the crab that's tossing people around. He feels like that some of the staff should have restrained the crab at this point. Or maybe that's the staff being tossed around. Uh oh...]

We might want to incapacitate it. It looks like it might get really dangerous for the other participants and no one seems to be restraining it at all. I don't think we can eat it though.

[Please...don't eat the giant crab.]

[But Deku...]

Right. Okay, think you can help me with that then?

[He says, grinning and jerking a thumb towards the direction of the crab, not at all fazed by apparently the lack of a crabby meal. He can make do.]
dekuru: (ugh)

[personal profile] dekuru 2016-07-26 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't. Eat. The. Crab.]

Yeah. I don't want anyone to get too hurt.

[And everyone knows that Deku is gonna jump in no matter what to protect others. Because he's a protective idiot. Still an idiot though.] We need to stop it.

You're the expert at planning.

[He points out, largely because well-- It's true. Kirishima's answer to everything has always been hit it as hard as you can and hope it crashes and burns. Not the best plan, but when you're essentially the consistency of a battering ram, it's quite useful.

Probably not so much with a crab that doesn't want to topple over.]

So, got any ideas?
dekuru: (Wait!)

[personal profile] dekuru 2016-07-26 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[He looks at the crab and around them.]

Most of the crabs had at least their claws tied up. Which means that there should be materials around for recapture incase they broke free from their confines. Ropes or some kind of object that can keep them tied up.

Do you know what a bolas is? Well, we won't be able to have one at the size of that crab, but we can act as the weights with a rope. If we can entangle its legs and both of us use enough force to knock it one way, it'll fall over from being unbalanced. We can take that time after to tie it down proper then. It'll hopefully minimize any damage around us and also damage to the crab. [PULLS A PLAN. OUT OF NOWHERE?]

Does that sound...good?

Sounds like it could work!

[He says with the confidence of a guy who-- probably has no idea if it'll work or not, but you won't know until you try, right? He probably should stop being so positive, because sand isn't supposed to grow plants and he's been growing plants accidentally this whole time they were talking, but oh well. At least the area around his feet look nice, with sunflowers, just to emphasize his enthusiasm.]

I'll go find the rope, you wanna distract him before he tosses someone else?

[Cue someone screaming in the back.]
dekuru: (sonic fast)

[personal profile] dekuru 2016-07-31 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Look, man. Having stuff grow instead of making the earth shake is probably a better option. Izuku can pretty much cause earthquakes with intense feeling.]

Just be quick about it!

[He's already activated Full Cowl and is charging towards the crab. He can be a good distraction. If he utilizes his increase speed, he can use that to dodge the crab's attacks and keep its attention on him.] I'll keep the crab's attention for as long as possible. [He'll also try and make sure no one gets injured.]

[All right, hero time! See, this is much better than delivery, and he's a little distracted running and catching the last guy who was tossed in the air before he actually goes around to find a rope. Or whatever that crab was tied with. Can't ignore the saving portion of the job you know.

Give him about a minute or two to grab some rope from the sponsors, because their crab is going wild, and he's hoping Midoriya doesn't get turned into sashimi before he returns.

Don't get sliced up, man.]
dekuru: (s-scary!)

[personal profile] dekuru 2016-08-04 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is terrifying.

That's basically what Izuku is thinking about. He can feel the tremors from his panicked feelings manifesting, but he has no way of calming them down. Not when a giant crab claw just slammed against the ground right next to him.

[The saving grace is that the tremors seem to unbalance the crab and stalls it here and there as it tries to keep balance.

It's a good thing that Full Cowl has him moving faster than his normal speed and he hasn't resorted to needing to punch the crab yet. He does not want to punch the crab. That would be mean. Even if the crab is very much trying to beat him up. HE WON'T STOOP AS LOW AS THE CRAB OK.

Please hurry with rope...

[personal profile] hardashell 2016-08-05 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
[Heads up, Midoriya. Help is coming.

Kirishima's got no idea how Midoriya thinks they'll get this wrapped, but he's guessing between the two of them, Midoriya's probably better off trying to do it. He's too focused on not hurting the crab that it impresses Kirishima, but that won't do.]

Hey, I got the rope! You wanna do the honors while I hold him down?

[He promises he won't try to eat him.]
