TEST DRIVE MEME: SEPTEMBER
Welcome to
![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png)
- Date reminders. Reserves open Monday, August 25th and Applications open Monday, September 1st.
- Emotions are key! Empatheias' premise focuses on how anyone's emotions can affect their environment, be it big or small. While not every emotion will cause a reaction, significant ones definitely will. How much effect a character will have will ultimately be up to you, the player. Also, while we're giving a lot of leeway for the test drive, keep in mind that there will be some limits in the actual game.
- Everyone has an amulet. All characters have a unique amulet that is specialized for them. It will contain all of their emotion drops and it serves as the network device. Remember, communication is telepathic. Otherwise, it works basically the same.
- Assume the character is already in the game. Because "OMG WHERE AM I IS THIS REAL LIFE" threads aren't going to be very helpful in this test drive! Plus those are going to happen in-game, anyway. So to make things easier, just assume that they've been around at least a week or so. Still learning the ropes, but not a complete "first day" experience.
- First or third person allowed. Your threads can be in either first or third, but we'd advise being flexible about it. Remember, these threads can also be used in your application for samples!
Now with that out of the way, here are some prompts you guys can work from!
• Prompt A: Create any scenario that could cause your character to display some kind of emotion, be it big or small, and write out how it changes the immediate area. Are there literal sparkles everywhere because they're so happy? Or is the ground starting to twist and warp due to their anger or frustration? Things exploding? Rain clouds? Since this is a test drive, don't worry about any limitations on effects—just write whatever comes to mind! OR write a prompt where they're the ones being affected by someone else's emotion.
• Prompt B: Refer to the Task Board and choose a task your character may be interested in taking up. For this prompt, you could have your character ask for help, already be in the middle of the job, or react to it in some way. Perhaps they were an unfortunate victim or want to create a job countering an existing one. You could even have a prompt making a job request.
• Prompt C: How about giving the amulets a go? Start a telepathic conversation and see how it works. Remember, the amulets are sending out the owner's thoughts so might want to be careful about how the stream of consciousness goes…
• Prompt D: How good is your character using an elemental core? They're magic-like rocks that have one of the three following elements: fire, air, and water. On their own they're not too bad, but they are quite sensitive to emotions. Be careful or that little handwarmer could suddenly create a small blazing inferno!
• Prompt E: Steampunk technology is a lot more advanced than basic medieval technology, but still inferior to modern day devices. No electricity, no cars—just this strange magitech, steam, and clockwork gear systems. How "tech savvy" is your character now?
• Prompt F: Make your own! It can even involve cake and rain.

For your threads, put the Character Name and the Canon in the subject line to help readily identify them. You're also welcome to use more than one prompt for respondents to choose from. If you have any questions or want to brush up on the game information, refer to the Game Information entry. Otherwise, tag around and have fun!
Yuusei Fudo | Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's
[It's only natural for Yuusei to be drawn to the world's technology once he starts actively exploring it. This particular tech is just foreign enough for him to be confused by it, but it's not so far off from the basic general workings of his world that he doesn't feel...a little familiarity with it. Or so he likes to think.
The absence of electrical power doesn't disturb him, even if it does mean a lack of computer to input some sort of coding. In the end, even if he was a good programmer, his real strengths lay in putting together a steady framework with whatever scraps he could find. (His friends would likely have said differently, but Yuusei knew that Bruno was the superior of the two when it came to programming in general.)
Instead, Yuusei finds himself almost fascinated with the clockwork gears and how they manage to drive the majority of these machines, even with the absence of something ongoing and never-ending, like Momentum. Steam was a suitable substitute, if not harder to produce, but...with something like those elemental cores around, he supposes it wouldn't be nearly as difficult here.
Inevitably, Yuusei keeps looking back at those clockwork gears.
They remind him of his father's Planetary Particle...]

Wahhh!
( not exactly coherent, but she can't find the words to accurately represent the way she's feeling right now. she's never seen technology like this, and the clockwork gears are definitely new. back where she was from, technology was extremely advanced. so seeing this is cool to her. the way the gears spin is captivating to her excitable little mind. ) Cool! A~a~awesome! Shiro has never seen anything like it before!
no subject
Ah, is that so?
no subject
Mm! Where Shiro lives, there are lots of things! Big rides and big b-b-boom speakers! But Shiro has never seen these kinds of things. They look fun. ( she giggles and finally turns her attention back to the boy, grinning ear to ear. ) Do you think Shiro could ride on them?
no subject
[Right down to the overuse of onomotopieas. Goddammit you're giving him so many Rua vibes how does he not respond to that.]
Sounds a little like where I'm from, too. It's more advanced than this, anyway.
[And even the bad ideas, too.]
I wouldn't advise it, unless the locals say you can.
no subject
( those were the words she was looking for. big rides and boom boom speakers still sound better to her, though. regardless— the thought disappears within a few seconds, her attention caught by the next thing he says. in which she puffs her cheeks up with air. not pleased with your answer, dude... )
Shiro never had to ask anybody if she could play at home! Shiro wants to ride the spinny thingies! When the "locals" aren't looking, Shiro's gonna sneak on. ( with that being said, she immediately bursts into another smile. master plan confirmed! ) Good idea?
and then i went to her profile to find out more about her and...WELL THEN. 8]
[you're seriously not thinking of riding on one of those cogs and geard, are you]
IM SO SORRY i swear she's an innocent baby..
Dangerous? Nuh-uh! Shiro thinks it looks fun!
from what im reading about her i think im gonna enjoy her lots
It might be, but it looks like it'll hurt too.
thats good cuz she sure is a wild ride
( she looks absolutely delighted by that! shiro proudly puts a hand to her chest and beams at him. )
Shiro doesn't feel pain, so she can definitely ride the spinny thingy!
she's already going for one if these tags are any imdication
[oh, child]
I highly doubt it would matter once your body would be ground to mincemeat.
no subject
( her hands are flying up into the air now. she looks like she's about to take flight into space. )
Shiro doesn't like meat! She prefers candies and cookies and... pudding! ( the point has definitely flown over her head, but take this valuable information instead, yuusei. )
no subject
[So. She doesn't like meat, is it.]
If you get caught by the wheels, you'll turn into meat.
[Ignore the fact that you are technically meat, plz.]
no subject
( she's really not getting the point of this. but when he mentions the whole "you'll turn into meat" thing, it looks like a light bulb goes off in her head. finally, something she can comprehend. )
Meat! Bloody stuff! Shiro has seen that happen to clumsy people before in the loud sparkly games back at Shiro's house. But that won't happen to Shiro, no matter what! Because... Shiro is Aceman! ( and here she'll just strike another pose. a really heroic one, for good measure! )
no subject
[The whole thing is really putting the mental image of one of Rua's hyperactive "imma hero!"antics in his head, but he'd prefer an explanation, anyway.]
Aceman?
no subject
( aaand that's exactly what it is. definitely a variation of 'imma hero!' antics. )
Shiro is Aceman, so she never gets hurt! Shiro protects her friends from bad guys. Like this! ( shiro flails around and punches into the air before settling back down, confidently nodding her head. ) Like that!
i-i might have to read deadman wonderland now because wow what a precious
[child please]
you should its so good + shiro is a lil angel
( a word that might as well be foreign to her... )
But Shiro told you, she doesn't get hurt or feel pain! That's why Aceman is the most powerful superhero ever! ( a beat before she's bouncing towards him, and then bouncing in front of him. ) Shiro will show you sometime!
w-waaaaah
A...aaa, but you need to set a good example. Otherwise other people wouldget hurt trying to copy Aceman...
no subject
( CHILD LOGIC!!! shiro puffs her cheeks up. )
They have to be strong and fast like Shiro! That's what it means to be Aceman!
no subject
no subject
( a little song-like thing as she gets what he says. if she had more friends, she'd probably be more concerned for everybody's safety. but she only has one, and that makes a lot more sense when he puts it all into perspective. )
Shiro understands! Shiro protects Ganta because he's so weak and can't do anything alone... that's why she became Aceman! It's like that, right? Shiro has to protect people like Ganta?
no subject
[He can smell the circular, innocently self-centered tangent that'd come off of this all over again. Maybe a different perspective would help.]
Have you ever seen Aceman putting himself in danger even though he wasn't helping anyone?
no subject
No! Aceman only jumps into action when somebody weak is in trouble.

[dunno shiro do you really wanna be getting superhero lessons from Mr. Martyr Complex here]
