No giant major events, but that's only because we're spreading it out to optional small groups instead!

» CALENDAR

The main calendar spreadsheet is here as reference.

Here are the basic dates to keep up with:

  • 3/01: Canon and Original Character Applications open.
  • 3/04: Applications close; Reservations close; Intro log posted.

» JOBS & TASK BOARD

The Task Board has been updated so characters can start taking on odd jobs if they are so inclined. Details as to how the Task Board works and sign-up can be found here. In addition, there is a Job List sheet that list out more permanent jobs available for characters. These are different from the Task Board jobs as they can be used as part-time or full-time jobs and do not have any specific time period. If you want your character to have a job, that's it. This is also where we will list character run businesses. So if you have one or are thinking about one, there will be a place where it can be referenced and looked at. You can even make tasks relating to your business.

The location of each task is determined by the colors they're labeled with. So, Blue = Verens; Yellow = Shaarnath; Pink = Theastai; Purple = Excursions; Red = Plot.

IMPORTANT! There is one task on here that is plot relevant: ST0306. The details are in a section below, so please refer to that. There may also be an interesting hunt slipped in the lists...

So if you'd be interested in any of those, be sure to check out the Board!

As always, we highly encourage anyone to fill out task ideas. (Or if someone is actually crazy and willing to help be our task board generator, we will gladly hire you.)

» EMOTION TRACKER UPDATE

The Emotion Tracker has been updated with new sheets. If you forgot, you can still submit to the tracker and just have it count toward this month. This includes any events that occurred.

This month's survey link is here. Thanks to a suggestion, there's a slight change in the format that hopefully provides more clarity. We've also had feedback requesting a kind of tally for individual responses and are working on that (I say "we" I really mean Slip, thank her everyone!).

Here is the screenshot for the end of last month:

Green, but not a huge number like the past. It's going to be interesting to see if the survey format actually affects how players put in their values, such as more likely to put more points in one spectrum or the other.

And of course Aiada is the most positive because she's a cheater and there aren't enough jealous people on the island apparently—kidding. Poor Thras, though. What the heck happened there?? Star Wars people did you do something again— Peromei is also in the negative again (oh dear) as is Sosyne, but what else is new.

Anyone who is interested in the fancy-schmancy breakdown of points can find it here—but don't worry too much about it if numbers aren't your thing.

» ST0306: THE COMPASS EXPERIMENTS

As we mentioned last month, we're breaking up how to investigate the new plot things to better spread the load and not make it too cumbersome or overbearing for the rest of the game. For the compass, this has been put to the Task Board for volunteers to help figure out how it works. This is what will happen:

  • Reacts to crystals. Researchers will have at least determined that the compass's crystal rod points in the direction of greatly concentrated emotion energy, specifically stored within crystals. What does that mean for the floating one, that's a different mystery for another day. But for now, they wish to test if anything happens to the different aligned crystals as all of them are Simpathis aligned. For those who volunteer, here is what will happen:

    • Complete crystals. Anyone with a complete crystal, the rod will twitch and start to move toward it, but it'll fling back to neutral.

    • Incomplete crystals. Crystals that are in progress or broken will have no reaction.

    • More crystals, more reaction. The researchers will group everyone up, and the more complete crystals there are, the stronger the reaction.

    • Aiada, Thras, and Piphron. Those aligned to either of these three will elicit the strongest reaction. The crystal rod will even take on a faint hue of the one it is pointing toward (so green for Aiada, yellow for Thras, and blue for Piphron). The more there are, the stronger the reaction. It does not matter if the crystals are positive or negative. Aligned characters will also feel a strange, small pull toward the Arehtei's respective domains.

There is no similar reaction to the other alignments.

  • Follow-up: After a few weeks, the next step will be to take the compass to various locations and see what happens. This will primarily be done during the second half of the month and we will do a formal sign-up in another announcement. But characters are free to go ahead and discuss experiences.

There will be an open log which will have a couple of other things that will happen with the compass, but the above are the important points.

Doesn't seem much for this portion but the second half will be like a fun scavenger hunt!

» RESEARCH ADVENTURE OPTIONS

Also mentioned in the last mod announcement was the potential for characters to go out and find clues for research behind the stuff revealed. While it is preferred for there to be player initiative, here is some help to organize and give direction.

Research locations. For the moment, the three main cities are the best places to research in first. We'd like volunteers for the following groups, and will give the details for participants to use. Use the sign-up threads and deadline is March 10th.

Next step. After that, it will be up to the players to use the clues gathered to organize groups to head to the next places where more details will be given. Some will be false positives, but still yield useful information.

The only deadline for this is we'd like for research to complete and follow up to at least START by the end of March. We'll remind folks at the Mid-month announcement and see how things are going.
